I'm using it as a tool to find users at the moment. Just pick a username you want to add to your contacts list. That way you can find anyone who might have a profile. I also found the person who got the name absentminded >_>

Think about popular flash authors. Fans probably email them all the time, asking questions about their work, but if the flash author doesn't come to newgrounds a lot, then no one will be able to find out anything.
It just makes more sense to have both. You can always hide your email anyways.
