That's a bummer, lost almost 300 reviews. And I was hoping I'd be able to climb a couple places with how many reviews I've done lately.

Maybe I get lucky and still do :P

Well, everybody that reviews lost some. I guess in a strange way, that makes us all even.

Maybe I get lucky and still do :P

Good luck with that.

Nothing I can do but keep reviewing, I suppose. It's still a decent way to spend my study breaks!

We should start a petition. Deficiencies interfering with what could be a perfect system - so much keeps disappearing! Users could review more and authors listen, and we'd all break out of prison with a warm and fuzzy feeling and a vision: no more inhibitions, on not reviewing content that might go wrong and end up missing.

I mean, if all the top reviewers rebel, Tom will probably have to change it. There is a secret upside to this for me. So many inactive users lost reviews, so now my threshold for entry is so much lower! The greater good matters more and blammed reviews would be an extra to the amount I'm already getting so I think that makes up for it.

Unfortunately most of the Top Reviewers aren't so active these days... I'm not sure those who are would be willing to stay idle either if they have an opportunity to climb while others are. :) But definitely have to bring up this issue a bit more. It's such a simple thing. Hopefully not all too difficult to make the change, if only staff agrees that it's the best way.

Hey at least some good with all the bad. :D

Aha. Kinda confused by what exactly was deleted here - have reviews on blammed submissions showed in our profiles all this time? Did they start showing with the recent change to the eulogy pages (where responses were made visible) maybe a month back, and now got removed again? Were blammed reviews only deleted on eulogy pages just now...?

That being said; I recall a time when threads COULD still be there but with the opening post deleted. Glad it got fixed eventually because it seems entirely pointless and bizarre to keep a thread around when the original opening post is entirely gone. That oddity was years before I became a mod too.

I remember stumbling upon threads with a deleted user opening the thread, but the post still intact. Don't remember the above, though!

Well you don't need to keep the entire thread, just the posts in each user's post history. Seems like something the user might want to keep. You might've written something you'd want to go back to, of which the use surpasses the post. For example: user icons in the user icon maker thread. Poems to a collective poetry thread. Drawings in a drawing challenge. All the work therein would still be valuable mementos on their own, and useful/entertaining both for yourself and for others. No reason to remove it just with the context gone. In my ideal NG all posts and reviews would remain on user profiles, and the submission/topic link simply unlinked when a particular submission/topic is taken down. For reviews the thumbnails could be replaced with a standard 'no image' icon as well, if those take up unnecessary space. The text that remains wouldn't be much of a burden, and there wouldn't be any disadvantages with such a system, would there? For those that care about disappearing content it'd be there, and for those who don't: it wouldn't make a difference.

To clarify:

Reviews for blammed content (games and movies) never showed up in your profile (or they shouldn't have done).

Reviews for content that had been unpublished (audio/games/movies) and art (deleted) should not have been showing up, but were - and it is those that are now hidden.

Any reviews that were lingering after full deletes should also be cleared up.

There are a number of reasons for entries (and their reviews) to be removed, some of which we are legally obliged to adhere to and I'm afraid that usurps any requests you guys might have about keeping them.

Thanks for stopping by. I still don't like the policy of deleting reviews for unpublished content, but I understand how it could bring up legal issues in some cases. I'll try to channel my frustration into more passionate reviewing.

Well that's a shame... but understandable, I guess (thoughts of revised ToS and legal loophole potentials roll into my mind... and out, out of my know-how). Thanks for clearing this up anyway. Good to know there's a reason it is how it is.

That seems unlikely, considering what liljim said. It's probably a glitch. I actually have no idea how my reviews were affected. I know at least a few of them were deleted, and there was a weird thing yesterday when they dropped by, like, 40, but they definitely weren't affected as much as you guys', because I have way fewer of them and I haven't really reviewed much stuff that was removed. I wonder if I actually gained a couple reviews. Probably not, but who knows.
Actually, now it seems mine have returned as well.

I had to double check just to be sure. Now, all of mine have returned. Within 24 hours they went from many gone to some back, and than all back.

It must of been all the complaints and PMs.

Scrolling down the list, it seems like not everyone is up to their pre-bug fix levels, though. I sure hope the reviews being reinstated was a collective action and not a selective thing...

The top 100 reviewers list, when it was last updated. Most of the people on there haven't gotten their reviews back since the bug fix. @FattyWhale, @M-A-R-C-U-S, @YoinK, the list goes on. It seems to me like only the people who complained about their missing reviews got their reviews back.

I really think it should be all or nothing. Not only does selectively appeasing the reviewers taint the integrity of the list, but it also doesn't really address the concerns I had with deleting the reviews in the first place. People aren't going to give others the constructive feedback they need if they think the piece is going to get removed - that includes WIPs, things that violate site rules, and others. That said, I understand if the site starts removing the reviews with the nefarious creators' work going forward. At the very least, I'd like to see more transparency about what Newgrounds is doing because I care a lot about the review system on this site. And I definitely want to see these new rules be applied equally.

Am I just peddling conspiracy theories here, or what's going on, @liljim?

Yup, I've lost 30-something reviews. I think this might be the world's first triple bug. So let's recap. First some sort of bug made me lose 40 reviews, then added them back, then took the ones on deleted submissions away, then took another 30 off. Man, it's been a roller coaster. Also, I'm pretty sure I have never reviewed 30 submissions that ended up deleted.

This is the second bug involving reviews. It has removed many more than the first one. Everybody is feeling the pain with this one.

I have been saying this for years. Why is everything such a secret? The Staff and mods should let us know what is happening with everything, not just reviews.

When a review is removed you get a PM and sometimes a reason why. When a post is removed you get no notice and no reason why. A PM about when medals are removed and why would also be very informative.
