What really sucks is I was hoping to get into the top 150 for b/p today. But the portal was very, very slow, and I got a lot less b/p than normal. Which I'm sure happened to everyone else. I don't even know if we had 100 submissions today. Now I have to wait some extra time to get into the top 150. >_<

I just caught up on all my other usual haunts in Wi/Ht?, after 2-10 days of neglect... alas, my neglect of this topic goes back much further than 10 days.

So anyway, no attempt to catch up on this one today, I'm done posting for the day anyway. Just wanted to drop by, in spancker/Xkwizitesque fashion and say HI, ALL!

Nothing too big to announce here. Moved up from #19 to #18 in VP... got pushed back down from #18 to #19 a few days later. Eh. Um... that's about it. gfox has no nifty statlandmarks to go "ooooo" about and receive congratulations on. #;-}>

Oh, and one important thing: I was just talking with SCD about how I tend to get around to replying to any post directed at me that's in any of the big topics around here EXCEPT this one (i.e. if you write a post that's to me in part or in full... in the reviewer topic, the abusive review topic, the top 500 exp topic, the NG total listing topic, the RC list topic, Dogma's topic, the top 50 topics, my two list topics, etc. etc. etc.... I will see it, sooner or later, and reply if I feel it's necessary/fun)...

but alas, when it comes to posts in here... well, let me just illustrate by typing out a quick summary of what I have and haven't read of this topic (gaps are in boldface):

pages 553 - 712 -- tried to read most of this, but a lot of it was a month later or so
pages 713 - 763 -- didn't bother to even try
pages 764 - 765 -- came back for ONE page again
pages 766 - 793 -- no reading again
pages 794 - 795 -- yet another ~1 page visit
pages 796 - 829 -- gfox was gone again
pages 830 - 842 -- made a good effort to read everything, did so
pages 842 - 862 -- back to oblivion

(to anyone who goes "WTF? How could he know that?": I make shortcuts to all the pages of this topic that I fully read. I just went through the folder with those shortcuts and assembled that list in 5 minutes or so)

Anyway, as I think you can see... there are big gaps where I haven't read this topic. I may have read 60-80% of it... but within that 20-40% that I haven't read might lie plenty of posts directed at me (from the list I just made, I'd estimate I haven't read between 225 and 250 pages of the current 862, BTW).

I always figured that if someone wanted me to read something and I never replied, that if it was important enough to them, they'd come and tell me in one of my list topics or something... where it's quieter, slower, harder to miss... and where I check more often... but maybe it needed to be said:

Exactly one year ago, Sentinel_specter of Flashregs signed up for his Gold Grounds account on Newgrounds . Since then, I, Sentinel_specter has posted 2,236 times. These means 2,236 times in the last year I have read and reviewed a post, and commented on it, or much less frequently, made my own post, most likely regarding flash. 2,236 posts in one year averages out too 6.126 posts per day. During the first months of my visits to Newgrounds I had over 20 posts a day at times. I have greatly reduced my posting habits to around 2 posts a day now, but my average is still high from previous posting sessions.

In the last year I have deposited my experience 335 times for a total of 3,350 experience points. I only missed 30 days out of 365 in the year. There was a 93.06% chance that everyday I would have deposited and I plan on continuing this ritual, which it has become.

In the last year I have Blamed or Protected 7659 movies submitted to Newgrounds. In the last 365 days, I average 20.984 movies Blamed or protected a day. Broken down, that is 14.495 blams a day, and 6.487 protected movies a day.

I have brought my way down from being ranked 500,000+, to now under 175 in the top Blammers and Protecters after one year. I am now ranked 171 out of 633,947 users on Newgrounds.

I am ranked 1,145th place out of 633,947 for experience points after one year.

In one year, I have reviewed 110 flash movies, coming out to .301 reviews a day. Out of those 110 reviews, 30 were replied to.

All of this data was taken at 16:48 New York time, 12-01-04. Chances are, most of these stats will change through the course of the day, and by tomorrow all of it will most likely be different, but as of now this is how things stand.

Reflection
I wasn't planning on making a big deal about it, I wasn't even planning on making a post. But, I remembered it was my 1 year anniversary and rather let it slip away like nothing happened, I'll go ahead and right about it. Plus, it's been fun tallying up my stats and everything. :D

Anyways, the last year has been crazy, I never knew I would fall this deeply into the depths of Newgrounds. I figured it would be a little hobby I'd enjoy from time to time. But no, it's changed my life, as corny as it sounds, it's true. I had visited NG a few times, staying up late so my parents would go to bed so I could play the Sim Date games...yea, we all did it, and I am not going to lie about it. I only went to newgrounds for those, didn't even know there was the BBS or a portal. I figured everything was professionally made and that everything submitted was made by the creators of NG and that all of it was made by companies. I knew NOTHING of the real story.

I join NG after about a few years of visiting occasionally. After the first month, I got flash, found the portal, and started posting like mad. This was the first forums online that I have ever been a part of it. Now, I am a registered user on tons of forums, but I don't post quite as nearly as much as I did on this one.

I remember it must have been less than 3 weeks after I got an account on NG that I got flash. I was immediately sucked in and there was no escaping. I had no idea ordinary people like you or me all over the world were submitting stuff that they made in flash and submitting it to this site. I had NO idea. I thought, if they can do it, I sure as hell can. Well it's been one year since then, I've gotten flash, I've become a NG Flash Regular, and I moderate my own website of tutorials for Flash. I have written many Flash Tutorials, and I use flash just about everyday. It makes me so sad knowing that I have no flash to show for my work, but I know, someday I will make something and submit it to NG and it will be a success. With all I have learned, I'd kill myself before I promised I wouldn't submit a flash to NG, because it will be done, hopefully sometime soon too.

During my stay at Newgrounds many many exciting things have happened. In no particular order, I was introduced to flash, and am now a flash enthusiast. A very prominent Flash author named Livecorpse is caught in a shoot out with the police and kills himself. Newgrounds has mixed feelings, and it truly was a sad time. Flash Author CerealBoxClock of his own website and good friend of my friend Dan Fleming is killed in a car crash. Very sad, especially knowing that I knew someone who was very good friends with him. The Flash Regulars Lounge is shut down after all. We spammed that place like crazy, but it was the only reason I stayed with NG for so long. If it hadn't been for Star_Cleaver, ioi8, LOTI, NB, qwertypod, Ludy, Cappy, Burst, Mercurius, Deathcon7, Iamthom, Kama, Amish, -007-, AngryAxl, CrookedAsterisk, NegativeOne, Ozcar, Pika, Joe, and Tom of the Super_Flash_Bros, I wouldn't not be where I am today on NG. Since the The Flash Regulars Lounge's demise, we have started up our new site which can be found at www.flashregs.x3fusion.com . We host tutorials of Photoshop and Flash, and would love for you all to join up. It was sad seeing the The Flash Regulars Lounge go, but I think it was all for the better, it was going downhill fast, and plus FlashRegs would not have been started and FR has been a success so far I think, it's still in it's growing stages though. Last but certainly not least, Tom Fulp releases the consol version of Alien Hominid. This is huge freaking news, seeing as this started off as a flash game, this proves to anyone doing flash, even the simplest projects you are working on now can turn into something huge like a consol game. Never give up and this can be you someday. Definitely a major thing that happened to Newgrounds, huge.

That about sums up the major/important things that have happened to me on NG, it's been a great run so far, and it's not over yet, although my daily posting count has been dropping forever. My B/Ping is slower than ever also, but I am hanging in there, and I don't expect to leave any time soon, so hang around to see what's up with the new flash.

It's sad, but I am no where near the fan I used to be of NG. I still love it, or else I wouldn't come, but it's going downhill for me...I seem to be slowing down soo much. I realized there is so much more to life, I got a girlfriend, I have been more active with school, NG is great, but it's going to get my anywhere, if I wasn't still a huge fan I wouldn't have taken the time to write this up, but it doesn't mean I am as obsessed with it as I used to be.

Heh, SeeD I have the same problem, I just anticipate it. It really isn't that hard. Vote on a flash twice, while looking at your clock. And when you get the error you can see how far your clock is. Then merely change the settings to match NG. I'm just slow when it comes to the quickdraw, I always notice it's 11:59 a bit too late, and I dash over to a flash and end up being a minute off. >_< *Goes to next page only to see YoinK already said all of that.*
