Why, thank you. As time goes by, the list should get more and more complicated. Hopefully, I'd like to be able to do what D0GMA has done, where you can click the "Average" column to go straight to the alternate list. But I'd like to do it to as many columns as possible. It'll take time, but hopefully this thing should keep getting better. Oh, and I'm also contemplating doing an overall list at the end of the month, showing the entire month's activity and average bp/hour. Hrm....

Well, before you go to far, you might want to sit down by yourself, or talk to me on IM, about the future lists you want to make for the NGTL. You, of all people, know that data can be sorted and displayed millions of ways, so think before you make.

Well, the list in itself is cool. It shows the stats at the current time. Once you start getting into comparisions with old data, things can get messy. Questions will arise that you never imagined, like:

Should I compare the user's rank with their rank last update?
Should I compare the user's BP/hour with their BP/hour last update?
Should I also include BP/day?
If I do that, should I compare that with the last update too?
How far back do I need to average someone's BP/day to give an accurate measurement of the number of days til their next rank up?
Should the monthly updates sum up the whole month?
Should they also include a comparison to the previous month too?

Nice! I was on and off NG for almost 12 hours and I didn't see more than 20 submissions submitted. It was like the portal froze.

I got to go to school in 1hour and 15minutes :( I haven't a clue what we're doing today, I think we might be sorting out our timetables or something. *sigh* Roll on Christmas holidays...

So I finally got around to watching the whole Beebo series (gfox delight). I had no idea Beebo, the cat who's name is the title of the whole series, is more of a comic relief to Harry. I mean, it could almost be called, albeit cliched, "The Adventures of Harry and Beebo!" Beebo's no star. I was expecting him to be able to talk in more than one episode. Maybe it adds to the humour and I'm just missing it, I dunno. It was just so different to my expectations.

That's not to say it's not hilarious though. It's no wonder gfox loves it so much. The thing that gets me laughing the most is when Harry beats Beebo in a fit of intense rage (which he so easily falls into). All this time, I've been missing out.

Stuff ADSL, it came through fine with my 56k modem. A useful trick is to load the next episode of the series while watching the previous one. It won't work all the time as there can be conflicting sound issues (especially if you're loading the episode with the noisy Harry-beating-Beebo-on-the-head-with-a-toilet-plunger preloader) but most of the time it's a good way to make the loading times go by faster. Haha, just thinking of Harry saying "What the shit!?" makes me snigger right now...

Anyhoo, im having a little problem with my comp, and since this is the brightest part of NG i was wondering if anyone could help. I have no sound on my computer at all. Sound is up, speakers are plugged in, checked the wires etcetera.... But still no sound, ive checked the settings and everything is fine. So does anyone have any ideas ? It also makes UJ movies a bit harder to judge since i have no sound, and i hate judging them solely on graphics, its not fair on them, and me. Help would be appreciated.

Have you tried reinstalling the drivers? It used to happen to me every so often and that would fix it, more often than not.

As above, I'd have to make the program write a new data file just for that purpose, so it's not really worth it. In contrast to a steadily increasing (or decreasing) rank like b/p or experience, the bp/hr stat can be completely different from update to update.

2) My time frame's shorter than D0GMA's; plus, I wanted something to distinguish my list.

Right now I'm working with a week. Seems about right; some people can rank up pretty quickly, but the numbers aren't too small that they would screw up the averages.

Yup. I'm planning on leaving out rank/level-ups and the special lists (rank/level-up and rank/level counts), but I'd like to try having everything else. Shouldn't be too hard, because I've saved a backup of the profile data from each update.

That was it =) The "luck" part came in how long it took you to find the page of "Old Submissions" on which your parameter started. If you're looking for a really accurate analysis, track down Wade's post on when they implemented the submission bans, find the last entry prior to that timestamp and work it out from there. That will give you a good before/after ban comparison to see how much affect the ban has had on altering submission content =)

ONE data point does not give you an average. The slowdown of late has been due to the fact that school has just started up for a lot of the submitters. The more data you have, the more accurate your final analysis ... and that one date you quoted (and yesterday even more so) are at least 2 SDs off the median.

When my PC chews up all the RAM it lets me know it's time to reboot by stopping audio. Presumably you've rebooted, but if not give that a go.

This also shouldn't be an issue, but another easy answer to try and check. The output port on audio is right next to the input port for audio. Change which you are into and test.

If still no sound, remember that the plug is just like a walkman port ... play something you know has audio and apply pressure to the jack. Occasionally something will occur that throws the port out of alignment and only by using the outside of the jack as a lever can you connect the circuit.

Always try the easy stuff first ^^

You are presuming that you'll rank up within the next week. Power to you if you do, but 24898 is your current total, giving you 161 since last update (5.48 days). At that pace it would take you until a few minutes before 30 September to make it. Base VP should increase from 9.36 to at least 9.39 in that time frame, bringing you up to 14.55/14.56 depending upon rounding. Your pace last update was only 3.43/day, which is where I got that 14.6+ It really just comes down to how badly you want this rank-up =)
