This isn't exactly a standard achievement for this thread, but today I surpassed 180 average medal points per game. I set this as a goal about a month ago when I started going through some games I began but left unfinished. It turns out I left a lot of points behind. According to nglogs, on May 1st I had 15,552 medals worth 360,255 points from 2,098 games, which was 7.41 medals/game, 171.71 points/game, and 23.16 points/medal. I now have 16,269(nice) medals worth 383,315 points from 2,129 games, which is 7.64 medals/game, 180.04 points/game, and 23.56 points/medal. Notably, my points per medal stat rose dramatically along with my points per game and is at the highest it's ever been. This is likely because of how many difficult and highly valued medals I earned as a result of this challenge that I previously avoided or was unable to get.

For a more normal achievement, I also just passed 100 reviews a few days ago, 94 of which were for games.

Nice. Unfortunately if you plan to keep that stat high it seems you won't be able to play a large amount of smaller games out there... all the DeathTiger0 point and click puzzle games for example, with just one five point medal each.

I admit it's an interesting currency, veiled in intrigue and mystery, with plenty of potential, I just don't want cash to disappear. It's a convenient format for entirely anonymous trade without a need to rely on any third-party services. No technology, no connection, no ties that may potentially falter or be abused.

You see how hard they're trying to get cash to disappear hmm? ;) Imposing all these restrictions, making it far more difficult to use or attain than it really needs to be...

Ah, well maybe we're of the same mindset after all. :) I do too, but I'll keep on using it as much as I can if only to preserve what social integrity we have left here!

Yes, it's a "Volkshochschulkurs" (compound words, yay!). And learning a language has much to do with speaking, so the teacher can correct mistakes. I'm also kind of glad I'm not learning swedish (sorry ;) ), but I don't think I will ever be able to distinguish all those "sj" sounds, haha.

Yeah that's another thing. A few years ago there was no shortage of cards with free withdrawal, but now, suddenly it's harder than ever to find one. My old card expired and I had to start looking for an alternative, and found there were basically only two banks (out of the 20-30 I researched) which didn't have a ATM fee nor a card/account fee. Everyone else either had one or the other. Free card but they don't let you use it for free unless it's specifically for card payments/online payments, or a debit card without restrictions, yet you pay a yearly fee to use it.

Finding a card that doesn't add a margin to the default currency exchange rate's no easy task either. In the end I have 3-4 different ones for different purposes, for travel, for ATM, for regular playments.

Fortunately alternatives like The Cash App and N26 seem to be making it a bit harder for banks to compete with unnecessary restrictions, just hope the game-changers don't eventually grow to the point they start imposing the same restrictions.

Ah, well in that case it makes sense. Back in the day though, even the smallest towns had their own... as a kid I remember going to the post office to make a deposit. Every town with at least a couple hundred inhabitants seemed to have one.

Yet you can pay with Finnish cents in Latvia, and maybe you'll get some from Spain in change? ;) The global order of things reduces the appeal I feel. A souvenir needs to be truly tied to a particular location to have any personal value. Collecting items isn't as fun if there's not a certain challenge to it either.

That's true, but if it's a battle of comfortability verses individuality I'd definitely go with the latter. I'm not a great fan of the 'anything that makes life easier makes life better' approach. Too leisurely a lifestyle and you lose your competence, and confidence, and sense of accomplishment when you do something worthwhile.

May seem like cash is a trivial aspect of it all but still... I don't mind those extra calculations. It's one of those small challenges that actually make travel fun IMO. :)

Luckiyl I can get by with two cards. One from my regular bank and one for my savings book. I can use that one to withdraw cash abroad wihtout additonal costs a few times a year.

This town was mostly farms a few decades ago. We don't have a post office either (but the next one is only 2km away, so there's that). But we do have a McDonald's, because the Autobahn is close by, lol.

Yeah, but you can't really do anything with the coins, except for collecting them. If that's you thing, great. But for me it's another inconvenience to stack up on piles of money that I can't use. ;P

Ah, that's quite the difference. That said the majority of the population here is also centered around Stockholm, a tenth of the people in an area equivelent to maybe a hundredth or less of the total landmass, so in the countryside the density is even less. But maybe the number above gives an accurate comparison after all if it's the same way in most countries, everyone gathering in the main cities...

Honestly I suppose I'm not much of a coin collector either. I just usually save a few each time I've been somewhere exotic and return with a little spare change. An otherwise inconvenient monetary surplus becomes a set of simple souvenirs just like that. :) I do collect a bit too much of too many different things though.

I think in Germany it's very evenly distributed. Of course there are "hotspots" like Berlin (3 million), Hamburg (1.5 million), Munich (1 million) and of course the Ruhr Area (5 million). But there really isn't an area like the Finnmark, where you can drive for an hour and never even see another car, let alone some small town.

I guess the most famous is "Fischers Fritz fischt frische Fische, frische Fische fischt Fischers Fritz", it's a guy (maybe the son "Fritz" of a guy named "Fischer") who fishes fresh fish.

Another good one is "Brautkleid bleibt Brautkleid und Blaukraut bleibt Blaukraut" (Wedding dress remains wedding dress and red cabbage remains red cabbage).

Not a tounge twister per sé, but still funny: "Tschechisches Streichholzschächtelchen" (little match box from the Czech Republic). Basically it's a sort of shibboleth: if you are not a native speaker, you will have great problems pronouncing it correctly.

And if you are from the Ruhr Area, you most likely will speak 8 "sh" sounds, instead of only 4 (note that "st" and "sp" are pronounced like "sht" and "shp" in high german, with only a few exceptions).

I'm just going out of my way to find the bad ones. I find that I can grab somewhere around 5 a day. Might not be a lot in the later levels, but at least for now it's kind of easy keeping about even when depositing experience points.

I also ran into someone who had 240 copy/paste reviews of the same exact 1 word "lol" over and over that were too old to clear without being marked first. That helped quite a bit. :P But yeah, at least 2-3 stolen submissions weekly that I mark up as well. I try to B/P right at midnight and I'm always finding something so I just switch over to this account when I do.

How do you usually know what's stolen? Easy to figure out via submission descriptions if the user isn't why they say they are? Doesn't seem so easy if the submission doesn't happen to be on the site already though. If you don't know the real artist's style already.; frequent a bunch of other content streams.
