Nice. :) Bit surprised you say you thought they had died btw, did they do anything to make it seem that way, or just leave without a trace? Guess I'm still a bit naive, but unless there's some post about it I usually just assume people are elsewhere. Even when it does become official someone's passed it's hard to believe, feels like interacting online - without face to face contact, the presence you feel from someone never disappears the same way as it would in real life. So much harder to grasp people really die, online. Especially when their accounts live on, maybe... well, anyway, didn't mean to delve into the pondering of potentially depressing afterrealms here...

Yeah, generally I'd say don't assume disappeared-off-the-face-of-yer-internet-borders peops are dead unless A) a family member posts on their account saying they're dead, B) you knew they had a terminal illness, or C) they were pretty old and you haven't heard from 'em or heard anything about 'em for decades (not just years).

That said, I did just turn 40 in June, so... time does go on by, doesn't it.

Went to the newgrounds shop today and they told me I needed to hand in my golden spear. Was so upset about it until they gave me my replacement which is a new and improved molten spear in exchange for my old one.

In other words level 59 is now mine. But despite this it is not really a big deal >_<

I just looked it up on nglogs, I passed 19k blams on 14-05-21 (of course date format is yy-mm-dd), so it took me over 2 years to get the last 1000 blams. Okay, my overall B/P pace dropped to like 2 per day a while before that, but it's still quite sad to see. Especially considering how easy it was to get like 50 B/P a day in 2012/2013.

Editing the post to say this:

Hey, nice reading this. I know you had some trouble with your parents back in the days (even thought about changing your name back then, if I'm not mistaken?) so it's a) nice to see you held out for so long and b) that you are finally moving out. It's always a big step and even though sometimes it's big trouble, in the end it's SO worth it!
Also, we should totally hang out one day. I know we came close to meeting up last time I was in Manchester (back in 2012 it was, I think?) but you had just started a job then and didn't have time. It's not totally unlikely that I will visit Manchester again or even Liverpool in the future. ^^

I'll forget even aiming for #1, though. I know they all say to aim for the top but for the EXP rank? Maaaaybe not that.

It's always a big step and even though sometimes it's big trouble, in the end it's SO worth it!

Admittedly, it's that stuff that I kinda wish I forgot about. Probably shit I said around a decade ago. I won't deny that I had some maturity issues back in the day but I like to think I get better with age and I say they have as well, particularly to still put up with me even to this date.

Nothing has happened or anything to cause me to move out. I just had that fated moment where I had found the ideal place for me to move in. Not gonna lie, the block on the outside look likes shit, especially the back garden but it's the inside that counts. For a one person flat, I've got a fair bit of space to work with and there is local shops and pubs as well as very handy public transport nearby.

However, what really brought me to this place is the fact that by moving in, I'll be living in the same block as one of my best friends. I've had many times hanging out at his place for drinks and smokes (but none of the latter anymore due to recent quitting) so I've even felt home there and now I can get to live not in that very flat but as a neighbour to it! I can't say how the other tenants are but the fact that I've got him as a neighbour is a step up by lightyears from the chavvy twats that I've had for nearly 25 years now.

While he has plans to move out in a year or two with his girlfriend, I say it's a great start to move elsewhere for the reason of having a friend there already! I was actually saying to him I was willing to take over his flat if it were possible but then I looked up properties online and by sheer luck found a place to rent in said block so I immediately acted upon it. At this time I'm still in pending stage of the application for references and all that but that should be sorted by the end of this week.

As for the whole name change, that is something that had been in my mind and admittedly still does so even now. Back in the day it was more due to being bullied over my name in school which lingered on for a few years after I left but nowadays if I really want to have it changed, it'll be more due to finally being sick of all the jokes I get about tennis. However, by doing that, maybe a bit of a novelty about me would be lost in the view of others. At the end of the day, though, a name change would still be down to myself and myself only and chances are, the majority of my family and friends will be fully behind it.

Also, we should totally hang out one day. I know we came close to meeting up last time I was in Manchester (back in 2012 it was, I think?) but you had just started a job then and didn't have time. It's not totally unlikely that I will visit Manchester again or even Liverpool in the future. ^^

Oh totally! I know we only talk to each other on here a few times a year at most these days but if you're ever around, definitely give me a shout! However, I remember how anti-social media you were and quite possibly still are so I can't just tell you to drop me an inbox on Facebook or Instagram when you make plans to come to Liverpool or Manchester. However, what I am willing to let you do is simply drop me a PM when that time comes. I'm still depositing on a daily basis (although slipping up here and there now but still doing well nonetheless) so I'm bound to check any PMs I get on here.

I feel I've said more than enough about myself here and how I've been lately so I want to hear how the rest of you have been in the however long that we've not posted here for.

... great stuff! Congrats on the moving out, first and foremost... the job secondly... and the smoking/vaping cutting down on lastly. YOU DID WELL! Dragon is credit to team!

I'm apparently #98 now. But still #50 in blams, amazingly. Congrats on passing me, bro!
Blimey, all the way down there now? Thank you, though even if you were one of those that I hoped would never stop but every little helps and I'm so close to the top 50 now yet so far... although after I reach that, I'm kinda like "What then?"

Yes. I'm awfully low in exp. I should really deposit more even if I can't be arsed to b/p (or just p) or post much except around CD season.

Anyway, I've deposited 3 straight days thanks to CD17 and I'm gonna try to keep it going a bit longer than usual this time of year for old time's sake. We'll see how that goes, tho. ;)

Aim for the top! Always aim for the top!

... and me, I'll aim to get a bit up again but maybe not quite into the top 50 again. I was there once, that may have to be enough considering how inactive I am now.

I'm glad some of my ol' friends from this place got to pass me, tho, I remember having fun passing people back in the day... ah yes.

Hey, nice reading this. I know you had some trouble with your parents back in the days (even thought about changing your name back then, if I'm not mistaken?) so it's a) nice to see you held out for so long and b) that you are finally moving out. It's always a big step and even though sometimes it's big trouble, in the end it's SO worth it!

... Indeed! All the drama... who needs it, I tells ya!

... Indeed. go for top 50, then top 25, then top 10. Or somesuch.

Noishe, noishe. Just be careful being around smokers... don't let it tempt you back into starting again if you'd prefer to stay smoke-free!

At the end of the day, though, a name change would still be down to myself and myself only and chances are, the majority of my family and friends will be fully behind it.

... I know it was probably bad having the same name as a famous sportsman, but man... you gotta realise that compared to what some kids go through because of their names, tennis jokes... it could be far, far worse is all I'm saying. ;)

Well, there are many people I'd like to hear from again. Coop for example.

I'll forget even aiming for #1, though. I know they all say to aim for the top but for the EXP rank? Maaaaybe not that.

Yeah, even if everyone would stop depositing right now it still would take years. I'm surprised I even made it to the Top 80.

That's pretty cool. When I moved out it wasn't too far away from my mom and my dad also lived nearby. Then my brother moved in a few streets down from my block (later, I moved into the same street, lol). And one of my sisters-in-law also bought a house very close by.

I can't say how the other tenants are but the fact that I've got him as a neighbour is a step up by lightyears from the chavvy twats that I've had for nearly 25 years now.

Many flats would be way better if other people didn't tend to be so annoying. First flat we also moved out because it really became unbearable. First there where some kids on the 8th floor (and we lived on the 11th floor!) who kept the whole house awake by listening to loud music all night long (LITERALLY all night long). Took quite some time to finally figure out where that noise was coming from, so we could finally complain to the landlord.
After we got those two idiots quite, the neighbours right above us would start listening to loud music, running around, singing karaoke (and singing BAD) way past midnight. I think it was a three room flat, but they always had like 20 people up there, with little kids. What the hell?
I remember one night on 24th of Decemer I went up and asked if they could turn down their music, as it was already 4 am. Ok, they agreed (after some discussion with a heavily drunk guy). But guess what? On the very next day, they started blasting their shitty music at full volume again? Are you fucking kidding me?
I finally called the cops on them, that kept them quiet for at least some time. All in all we spent 1 year suffering from loud neighbours, that shit really gets to you.

As for the whole name change, that is something that had been in my mind and admittedly still does so even now. Back in the day it was more due to being bullied over my name in school which lingered on for a few years after I left

Hm. Being not a native speaker I really have no Idea how you could get bullied over your name. I think it's for the best I don't know it. ;)

but nowadays if I really want to have it changed, it'll be more due to finally being sick of all the jokes I get about tennis.

I guess that can get pretty annoying. I share the same last name with someone who was in the news for a few days. An oarswoman who was at the olympic games in London. During her stay there people discovered her boyfriend was in a right-winged party in Germany (and considering the history of this country people still get pretty upset about that, and for all the right reasons, I might add). My mom got some calls from a few press people asking her if she was related... propably because she's only listed under her last name (no address either) in the phone book.
I got one or two people asking me at work if I was related and THAT was annoying as hell. So I can imagine how you must feel.

Well, I do have a fake facebook account for all those sites where you cannot create accounts anymore, but they force you to log in via twitter, facebook, etc. but I don't really use it (plus, I really don't know how FB works, so... ;) ).

However, what I am willing to let you do is simply drop me a PM when that time comes. I'm still depositing on a daily basis (although slipping up here and there now but still doing well nonetheless) so I'm bound to check any PMs I get on here.

I guess that would be the best option. But I still have AIM, ICQ and so on. Even Threema. But no WhatsApp.

I feel I've said more than enough about myself here and how I've been lately so I want to hear how the rest of you have been in the however long that we've not posted here for.

As I've told in another thread already, my wife and I bought a house a few km south of Hamburg. Plus, I got another job pretty close to where I live, so my commute isn't 45-60 minutes with public transportation, but about 15-20 minutes by bikes, so that's pretty awesome.

And... well... we tried to have kids. But it didn't work out so far. :(
And yes, misscarriages suck major ass and we suffered through three already. I guess we where lucky after all that it happened pretty early during the pregnancy and not like after 8 months or so. Plus, miscarriages aren't that uncommon, either. It's just that nobody ever talks about it.
Right now I'm thinking, the state the world is in right now, it's propably for the best to NOT have kids. We'll see what the future brings...

I got about 100 saves. Before, during, and day after. There were only ~80ish, same as the last two years, submitted on the actual day from midnight to midnight, I noticed. Glad it's kinda steady, at least, but the %age of submissions that was clock-related was way down.

Damn, that is way way less than what I remember it used to get. However, the last time I even got any B/P on my account was such a long time ago. Probably like 10 years now.

I'd rather make the mistake on the BBS while writing about it... than talk correctly about it and then fuck up the actual voting.

Too bad you didn't catch onto the mistake right after. You could have edited it out (I keep forgetting the BBS has an edit button now).

Well, I've checked in more recent than you have but outside this thread, I doubt I'm remembered all that much on here nowadays.
... NEVAR! And if that's the case, it's because of your name change.... everyone loved the dragon! ;)

Touché. I did feel like I dropped into obscurity on here after I moved away from Bahamut. It's a name I've long abandoned and the only times I even have that name around nowadays are my email address (although slowly phasing that out), my PSN ID and Last.fm. I only have it around for those two simply because I am unable to change my name for either of them.

... great stuff! Congrats on the moving out, first and foremost... the job secondly... and the smoking/vaping cutting down on lastly. YOU DID WELL! Dragon is credit to team!

Thank you for all of them. It is indeed a lot accomplished in that time and I think the way things are going now, there's still tons more I'll be doing. One other accomplishment I have made in that time is finally getting myself to go on flights again. I went to Dublin last month for a weekend trip and that marked my first time on a plane in almost a decade! It was also my first time abroad since Paris in 2011 so I can only wonder what I'll get up to next year.

And yes, I did go to the Guinness Storehouse while I was there and I must say, the Guinness was divine everywhere I went. Even the first pint there was like the best I ever had but now I'm back to sub level Guinness over here. :P

Also, when you say Dragon is credit to team, I gotta say... I don't think I'm as much of a dragon fan these days as I was back in the day. They're still awesome but I just lack that fascination for them these days. If not dragons, what animal/creature do I like most then? ....I guess goats... goats are metal!

Blimey, all the way down there now? Thank you, though even if you were one of those that I hoped would never stop but every little helps and I'm so close to the top 50 now yet so far... although after I reach that, I'm kinda like "What then?"

Hey, just means we'll have you around for a bit longer this time. :P As for me with the deposits, it seems I've missed yet another one very very recently. I knew I forgot one while I was away the other weekend but now I've slipped once again. Dang, I'm starting to get bad with this now. I won't be surprised if this was a missed one from not getting the deposit done before an 11 hour shift at work and then not remembering to do the daily deed at all when I got back home. Ah well, my rank is still secure for the time being if I stay sharp after this.

I'm thinking top 40 once I reach #50. With getting to the top 50, from the looks of things, I'm still a bit of a way off until I'm even there despite being only a mere two ranks away.

I've been around smokers many times since I quit. As a matter of fact, just being around any actual smokes makes me feel sick these days. Vapers I can tolerate being around as long as I can get some nice scents of flavours from them. The worst I've feared about possibly getting back into it is when I'm on a night out and having many to drink. I'm still fearing now that I may end up falling back onto it but if results so far are anything to go by, I should be alright with my smoke-free life.

... I know it was probably bad having the same name as a famous sportsman, but man... you gotta realise that compared to what some kids go through because of their names, tennis jokes... it could be far, far worse is all I'm saying. ;)

Well, the tennis jokes were after school when a certain tennis player became more and more of a notable sports figure. At least I can say my very own name has trended numerous times on social media.

Yep, probably like five years just to get to #1 for me and that's if I'd still even have the depositing habit by then.

Many flats would be way better if other people didn't tend to be so annoying.

If my mate's words are anything to go by, there shouldn't be much troubles with the other neighbours (if any). Of course, I'll have to do my part by not being the obnoxious neighbour myself. Really, I think I'll just be the same with volume of stuff as I am back here.

Sorry to hear about your obnoxious neighbours at one point. That sounds like how mine used to be or at least the one guy that was always the problem. However, we don't hear so much of them now but the mother is still a right sod. Most I hear over thin walls is stupid noises they make for the new generation in there.

I got one or two people asking me at work if I was related and THAT was annoying as hell. So I can imagine how you must feel.

Yep, like almost every time someone who doesn't know me sees my name, they will crack on the tennis jokes. I'd have thought by now I'd be tired of them but it really doesn't phase me at all cause I'm that used to it.

Awwww shit, so sorry to hear about all of what you and your wife have gone through. You wanted to have a family but fate has gone horribly against you in that aspect. I feel it's a bit of a personal subject but if your wife cannot give birth to a child, have you two had any thoughts on adoption? Right now I'm thinking, the state the world is in right now, it's propably for the best to NOT have kids. We'll see what the future brings...

It's hard to say how the future will bring for better or worse. The way I see it, the state of the world has always been ugly. I know a lot is going on right now but it has sadly always been the case with many issues through time and history. If I do have a child of my own, even if the world is in an ugly state, I can only hope they bring some beauty to the planet we live on.

Yeah, now that we moved, the other part of my family is closer by. My other sister-in-law and her two kids (no husband, because the father of the kids is just a giant douchebag. I'm glad my sil realized that, albeit a little bit too late), my parents-in-law are also a lot closer now, too.

Sorry to hear about your obnoxious neighbours at one point. That sounds like how mine used to be or at least the one guy that was always the problem.

Ah yes, I remember you wrote a bit about him. I mean, I like to play some songs at full volume from time to time, too. But I don't get why some people have to be loud at all times.

Yeah, but I propably only see messages a few years after they have been sent, so don't get your hopes up too high. :P

I guess that would be the best option. But I still have AIM, ICQ and so on. Even Threema. But no WhatsApp.
Dear me, you really haven't changed your internet habits. AIM, ICQ, IN 2017?!?!

Well, I'm not online in AIM very often, but I still remember the account + password. ICQ I use daily. Mostly because it's an easy way to communicate with my wife, lol. But seriously, it's much faster to write an ICQ message than to shout something and then only get a "whaaaaat did you saaaay?" back. :P
Also, a few (online) friends hang out in ICQ from time to time, so it's not entirely useless. Even in 2017. ;)
I also use XAMPP daily, which is a really simple protocol, so it runs nearly everywhere.

The main means of communication is Threema, however.

Awwww shit, so sorry to hear about all of what you and your wife have gone through. You wanted to have a family but fate has gone horribly against you in that aspect. I feel it's a bit of a personal subject but if your wife cannot give birth to a child, have you two had any thoughts on adoption? Stupid question, I know since surely that would have been considered at least once but I'm just finding out what the answer is.

It's not like she definetly can't have children, it's that sometimes a pregnancy just goes wrong, and it's really nobody's fault. Sometimes there's just an error when the chromosomes divide (it's the most common reason for a miscarriage). As I've said, it happens more often than one might think.

That 40+ years old couple with a little kid? They didn't just wait so long to have kids, it just didn't happen sooner. The couple with two kids where one is significantly younger than the other? Same thing, they propably had a few miscarriages to suffer through as well.

My ex-colleague told me that her daughter nearly died during birth, and that it's for the best IF the pregnancy goes wrong, that it happens as early as possible, and I have to say she's right. A friend of ours became a mother just last year and a colleague of her's lost her baby in the 8th month. I can't imagine what my friend's colleague and her partner had to go through... :(

So yeah, IF a pregnancy goes wrong, please let it happen early. It's still not easy, but a lot easier to cope with than losing the baby at birth or shortly before birth.

We haven't really talked about adoption, but I think my wife is against it. I'm not too sure myself either.

11 years on NG

Aaaaaand...
Gonna have a special composition featured in @RealFaction's Venturescape series tomorrow! It's looking like a fantastic ride. Really excited.

On a more somber note, one of my friends committed suicide not long ago, which inspired said song in the first place. If you're the praying type, please pray for her friends and family, some of which are also dealing with the aftermath of Harvey or preparing to get slammed by Irma.

Hope everyone is doing alright. I've been pretty off kilter for the past week.

Good stuff! Myself, I've hit 13 years on NG. Yeah, the ol' saying goes, now my account is old enough to make its own account on here... I've been here too long.

So sorry to hear about that. Thoughts are with you and family and friends of your lost friend.

Hope everyone is doing alright. I've been pretty off kilter for the past week.

I've been settling in with my new flat. Been sleeping in it for over a week now and things are running smoother than expected. Still some issues here and there, namely the hot water right now. The shower's fine but not so much the sinks... I'll eventually have it all sorted.
