I originally submitted the Idea of EXP reward to Tom, with the current system for levels it works because its a once a month reward and there will be pre-requisites for it to apply so it shouldn't effect the level system to much.

They had to. It's one of the key scenes in the book. Without the ring, the whole story wouldn't work out. So there's really no reason at all to cut down the riddle scene.
But yes, it was very well executed. I liked how Bilbo really was fiddling around in his pocket before asking: "What do I have in my pocket?", just like it was described in the book. And how he slowly realizes that he is invisible while wearing the ring.

Anyway, I can honestly say that I'm glad they broke this up into 3 movies now. :P (I can't wait to see Beorn -he should be pretty early on in the next movie...)
As much as I enjoyed it, I still don't think three films was really necessary. Two, maybe, but three feels a bit like milking considering the book is only what.. 300 pages thick?

That's my main criticism as well. LortR had to be done in three movies. It's three books, after all. It just wouldn't work in one or tow movies. But "The Hobbit"? I don't know...

By the way, what was up with the crusted bird shit on Radagast's face...? 0.o
Maybe it was meant to be some kind of fungus or something? I have no idea.

No, it was guano. Because... well, there are birds living on his head.

Yes, that is enough time to get to know each other. And still, there's a lot to discover about your "significant other".
Indeed. There's still so much more to find out and my mum keeps asking me if I found out anything else about her. My mum can do with getting off my back once in a while.

Ha, I'm just glad I moved out (or... had to move out ^^) rather quickly after meeting my wife.

They probably could come up with 500 more episode ideas. However, I think we can both agree that stopping at 25 seasons would be a fair idea.
Yes, that's enough.
I always like round numbers and 25 works fine. Stopping at 400 episodes with the movie would have been another reasonable place to retire but they had to go further.

Even M*A*S*H ended after 11 seasons.

Still plenty of fire, though.
But a cosy fire.
Just watch out. It may be a bonfire but Grisu shall find a way to make the fire bigger. ;D

He's more keen to keep it small or putting it out, though. See pic.

Although this can't apply to everyone as it covers top 10,000 active users in EXP, it's still a large majority of us so everyone getting +50 EXP for doing this is pretty fair to me. However, this will completely ruin deposit rates altogether and getting an additional 50 EXP each month would put me well above 100% deposit rate within a few months time. Personally I'd like to hear feedback from EVERYONE who is an active depositer on this site.

I don't like the idea, as although I'm an active depositer, I don't vote on the best of the month, as I don't have time to go in depth and pick out the top 10. Sure, a couple of minutes will tell me Blam or a Save score, but to watch each of the whole pieces would take a day.

I'm telling the truth, dammit!

I'm at a Crossroads here - do I continue, or do I just let him win? Nah, I still have Hope and Vital Signs and I still want the Limelight! It may be a Sweet Miracle if I do win, but I will learn the Lessons that come from each and every one of these song titles.
That's right, Coop, put on your Bravest Face and Stick It Out! Because For What It's Worth, it is our Mission to use every last Rush song in the form of a pun! We must Hold On!

I think I'm approaching Red Sector "A" on this one, losing touch here. You can have the Limelight, if you come up with a pun for O Baterista, deal?

I think they tried not to make it as boring as Fellowship. Lesson learned.
Fellowship was boring, compared to the other two, but it did have its moments. (Boromir's last stand against the Orcs and of course Gandalf vs the Balrog both give me goosebumps.)

Yeah, but those films got better as they went on through the series. This works for Star Wars, until Episode VII is released :P

Frontal laser cannon? What, do I lose the ability to jizz?
No, you just jizz lasers that deal death to those you deem unfit to enter the Portal. There is no compromise here. (Yes, you get a blam-cannon for a save milestone. I didn't think that one though. Deal with it.) :P

I'm not sure that any Mrs Coop would like having a blam cannon inserted in her, lest she give birth to a P-Bot...

Nice, but do you have to parachute in? That's fucking too much.
Ether jet packs or we ride in on winged washing machines -which is more believable? lmao

Drink plenty of Red Bull.

I always preferred Glamdring.
Glamdring is awesome, too; it's on my LOTR sword wishlist. It's just the big, broad curve of Orcrist's blade that I love so much. The thing is though, if I get Orcrist, it's going to set off a chain reaction where I'll have to also get Glamdring and Sting. That way I'll have the complete set of the swords that were found in the troll's cave. That's going total at least $500. Fuck.

Better get saving, then ;)

Knowing the story already, I did anticipate a higher level of comic relief in this movie, when compared to LOTR. It's not entirely a bad thing, as The Hobbit is a better fit for that kind of thing, as you said. I just think there was a scene or two that NEEDED to be serious that were just made silly by being a little too lighthearted.

That is true perhaps. I agree that the scene in the Goblin caves was so silly that it started to look a bit cartoony. Like how they dashed through the caves and not a single arrow hit them. Heck, they didn't even have a scratch when they walked out.

The riddle scene with Gollum was excellently executed in my opinion. I was a bit worried they were going to cut that scene a lot, show like two riddles and move on, but they gave it a proper amount of time.
Yeah, I was worried about that, too. I think they knew it was the part of this first movie that many people would be anticipating the most. They did it justice.

Indeed. I think most fans would not have liked it if they neglected this part of the book.

As much as I enjoyed it, I still don't think three films was really necessary. Two, maybe, but three feels a bit like milking considering the book is only what.. 300 pages thick?
I thought the same thing before I watched it, but now that I've seen it, I have faith the next two will be just as good. At least they'll be less apt to leave out huge parts of the story, like they did with LOTR.

Well the additions they made to the original story were pretty good scenes at least. Like all the extra stuff with Radagast and the scene at Rivendell with Saruman. I'm curious about how they're going to work out the side plot with the Necromancer.

Maybe it was meant to be some kind of fungus or something? I have no idea.

Also, I think they were trying to make some clear connections with the Lord of the Rings films, just for the crowd that never read the book.

I always imagined that part to be a bit silly. Like, how would Gollum even consider that to be a proper riddle? However, they made it fairly believable in the film.

They even cut a lot of parts of the LotR just to keep it all within 3 hour portions.

But oh well. It seems to be hip nowadays to split books in as many films as they think they can get away with.

Yes, that's my main beef; when they were captured by the Goblins. I actually didn't mind the comedic nature of the Goblin King, with his grotesquely sagging jowls. It was the general sillyness of their escape, culminating with the Goblin King saying: "That'll do!" in response to Gandalf slashing his gut. HIS STINKING, STEAMING GUTS SHOULD HAVE SPILLED ALL OVER THE FLOOR, DAMMIT!! (ok, maybe that's a little much) That was just a wtf moment for me, anyway. :P

Having alts is one thing, having them to participate in monthly voting is not cool. I'll say right now that I will definitely not make any of my alts get extra EXP from this.
I hadn't considered alts... Couldn't they make it so each IP address can only vote once, like with the Flash Portal? (That would really suck if two people in the same house had NG accounts, though.

That was further discussed in the news thread. Making it exclusive for supports could help that but there are consequences...

It can be difficult if one doesn't log in NG stats for 6 days and gets +60 EXP as a result making the system think they got the extra EXP from the monthly voting. I suppose you can track the deposit rate on your own but that's all going to be manual.
Honestly, I'm weary of looking at my deposit rating anyway. :P

I'll shut up about my deposit rating.

When you look at it that way, it doesn't sound that bad. Maybe they can compensate the challenge of the level system by adding ten more. It'll set the bar higher for the top users again but at the same time making progress a bit faster.
Adding 10 more levels at the highest tier would outweigh the 50 extra exp a month, I think. At this rate I'll be on my fucking deathbed by the time I reach the final level. LOL

Just try to keep that deposit habit. :P

Except I dread certain users PM'ing me.
Am I one of those users? :P

Nah, you're good!

Actually, I cannot argue with that.

Ha, I'm just glad I moved out (or... had to move out ^^) rather quickly after meeting my wife.

That's something I still need to do... Still not getting anywhere with that.

I always like round numbers and 25 works fine. Stopping at 400 episodes with the movie would have been another reasonable place to retire but they had to go further.
Even M*A*S*H ended after 11 seasons.

And most Britcoms only had 2-3 seasons.

Just watch out. It may be a bonfire but Grisu shall find a way to make the fire bigger. ;D
He's more keen to keep it small or putting it out, though. See pic.

I'm sure he has the more pure dragon side to him as well.

Sorry, I'm in bed, reading at that stage. It helps me to wake up. Perhaps if I move somewhere closer to work, I may start again...

Then again, I'm missing some days in the LUL myself so I'm not all that better. Not even made a LUL post for at least 48 hours until now.

I'm hoping they have this fixed. Not doing a damn thing about autoplay exploit for YouTube is one thing, this they better not overlook.

Making it exclusive to supporters would make it pretty cut-and-dry... It just doesn't sit right with me, having a (pretty important) feature of this site being available to "supporters only." Newgrounds has never been like that and I don't think it needs to start now -and that's coming from a supporter. (I know other users have said as much already.)

Anyway, if it comes down between supporters only and no exp bonus, I'd rather do away with the extra exp, honestly.

I'll shut up about my deposit rating.

What, about how bloody AWESOME it is? Yes, please do. :P

Just try to keep that deposit habit. :P

I would say that "I will", but it just doesn't carry any weight to me anymore; I've just let it slide one too many times. :(

Nah, you're good!

Just wait until I start bugging you about the Hexalist again. I'll wait until your final update is posted, at least. ;)

So I did some voluntary work at a local indie game shop today. My main job was meant to attend the Facebook page for the store for any incoming messages/comments about any queries but I ended up sorted out all the shelves for the shop. Well, almost all of them anyway. Made the place look a whole lot neater and the store owner was really pleased with the work that I did.

I'm glad it was discussed about before we all jumped ahead and had it on board. I didn't mind the idea at first but if it meant to restrict it to supporters only, I become less fond of it.

I'll shut up about my deposit rating.

Yeah, about that... I think what might be best to do is sort out the update on Sunday and alongside type up the step by step guide. However, if Sunday plans do suddenly change like seeing my girlfriend, then it could become more of a task at hand.

level 33!

It's just wonderful how the level 32 shuriken of this design aligns perfectly with the previous design's back-to-back shurikens. I have to deal with these damn things for 3 levels in a row now! >:(

By the way, this bomb thing is probably the worst icon I've ever had.
