I tend to only visit the Politics Forum if there is something that I uniquely know i.e.the Oklahoma is backwards thread, or Native Sovereignty issues topic. Other than that it's more one person's view verses another in which nothing is truly right or wrong (not including the idiotics like Birthers, Tea Partiers , Got-ya journalism, etc) in which things just goes around in circles.

The decline is affecting everyone on the BBS from the activeness of crews in the CC to the Wi/Ht Regulars on the RCVL. I just hope that it's just a lull and isn't anything permanent. Newcomers to the LUL come and go as well. I'm not sure what really turns them off, the long discussions or the wrong idea that they need to do a list to post here.

How long were you guys together before you asked her to marry you?

Good luck then! You'd be amazed how much money you can waste...I mean save in only a couple of years. I wound up dumping...er..investing over $10,000 into my wedding just because we bought stuff over 2 years or paid for deposits/bands ect.

Was this with a lot of help from family or not? I'm assuming both sides of the family will help out quite a bit with money on top of us both saving up for it.

You wont be pigeon holed because of your degree. In fact, if I remember correctly, most law enforcement only requires you have at least 2 years of college. A criminal justice degree is a leg up, but not always a requirement.

To get a degree in law enforcement in the local area I think it's a 2 year degree. I already have one year done as all of my general education classes would transfer over and I would just have a years worth of classes to take.

Don't fret if you're having second thoughts about your major now. A lot of jobs just require you have a degree and they don't care what you majored in.

Yeah, I'm just going to finish my current degree and see what happens from there. In my area there's a lot of rich home schooled kids that the parents pay for someone to teach them at home. It actually pays better than a regular teaching job and you only have one child to worry about.

On top of that, my finance's family actually ones some private schools. :P And even on top of that, her family is good friends with the mayor as well. Getting a teachers job is all about politics anyway. Then if I see the job isn't for me I'll move onto something else.

Wait, what did I miss? Why can't you?

Well almost all of the meets are on Saturday mornings, but I have to get into the city at 12:30 each Saturday for orchestra rehearsals. If the meets are early enough I can make it to rehearsal on time but some of the meets are simply too late. If I miss three meets I can't be on the team, and I'm not about to skip a rehearsal.

Fortunately it looks like I can do both, provided the meets don't run late and there isn't much traffic. We'll see.

Third place in lifting competitions and supposedly not in great shape? You must be in better shape than I am.
I mean I get tired when I walk up the stairs or have to be on my feet for too long. Let's forget about running around for more than a couple of minutes. Strength is there, but endurance isn't anymore.

Ah, that makes sense. Endurance is important though, so you might want to consider a...physical therapist? Did I get it right this time?

No, they look at me for the hat now :P

It's a black fedora, with white pinstripes.
Yes, that's definitely worth looking at. The fedora needs to make a comeback since to me, there is no simpler yet more effective way to look important and classy.
I must go and buy a black pinstripe suit now, to match. Then I'll look the dogs bollocks.

Is that a good thing? That's not something I'd want to look anything like. Anyway yes, definitely get a corresponding suit. Then post a picture of the entire ensemble.

Alright guys, how's this for an NG accomplishment?
Within 1 hours time, I've become a B/P General and reached level 43 (which is also my favorite level on Newgrounds!)
Voting power now @ 12.37
My game plan for Newgrounds goes as follows; continue to B/P until I reach the final badge, at which point I'll slow the amount of time I accumulate B/P, and take a small portion of time a day to get medal points from playing various games here, as currently I have none.
I'm not too active on the forum the past month, but I'm quite sure that will change, so 10,000 posts isn't far off. I'm also less than 100 saves away from 10,000, I'm certain by the end of the year I'll have easily made it to the quad 10,000 list.
20,000 experience also less than 50 deposits away.

Frankly, I wouldn't care a lot about that. Although I gotta agree with you in some way, I think everybody still likes or does something when they were kids. My dad still enjoys a lot Tom & Jerry each time they show it on TV. I still enjoy the songs of my favorite singer for kids each time I listen to them (Sir-Nuts knows who I am talking about :P).
But if someone forces someone to like something which is pretty obvious that person will not like it, then it's just plain wrong.

Oh and by the way...

Well, they got a tough luck loss last night and the bigger talking point was probably either the fan's Web Gem (Sorry Coco, you're a pro - we expect it from you :P) or the ball boy trying to get a girl's number, by giving her two foul balls. Smooth.

As for the Cards, you can hope that the off day does you good. Back to it tonight and Jake Westbrook toes the rubber against Bumgarner (lol), so it could be difficult for you guys.

Burnett Vs Hernandez tonight - 1 star pitcher that gets no offensive support against a number 2 pitcher that hasn't been at his best this year.

The habit of forgetting to post in the LUL. You've done it a few times now and the first thing I always do on the BBS is posting here. Well, I might post elsewhere beforehand but most of the time, my start for the BBS for the day is right here!

Slow is right to describe the album but regardless of speed, it's good.
Still, Starblind is a perfect tune for EVE Online

Starblind, eh? Sounds like an appropriate song for Starcraft... Even though I've never played it before.

Fuck, don't even go there. It was bad enough when I ALMOST got addicted to it.
Show us the picture - "World of Warcraft has successfully been uninstalled from your computer"

I would but that was on deviantART and I nuked all my accounts on there after realising how much of a shithole the site truly is. Seriously, deviantART should rot in hell.

I can't do that anymore. I've had my one and only shot at the 100th flash.
Now make a proper 101st flash?

Yeah, I never saw it as an "real" album as well.
They never are and never will. Helloween's Metal Jukebox isn't a real album and neither is Metallica's Garage Inc.

Right. Those CDs are kinda nice and always a nice tribute to other artists, but I dislike how the media always treats those cover albums as "new material" from the band that brings out one.

Yeah, A Night at the Opera wasn't easy to get into but eventually I found myself to enjoy the album overall. Sure, there are some weak tracks but they're still good. As far as I know, Blind Guardian have yet to release a bad album.
Yep. I really hope they never release a bad album. A feat not many bands where able to do.
I'm not sure how long the band will go on for.

You know, when I saw the band pictures in the booklets I thought: "God, they really look old now."
I would hate to see them go, but we just have to face it: They won't be around forever.
Also, I just read: Blind Guardin will be headliners for Wacken Open Air 2011. But I don't think this will be enough for me to visit this festival again.

But I need money to go abroad and the economic state makes it even worse.
You also need free time to go abroad (I really envy those people that travel around for like half a year through various countries and continents).
Either way, we lose. :P And yes, I do wonder how those can afford to travel through various places for half a year. They have to be millionaires.

Rich parents maybe? But I think some also work in side jobs while they are traveling through the countries.

Just avoid something that you predict will be too awesome.
It's hard to do, but I try.
It's either that or actually find a monitor that won't explode from seeing epically awesome stuff.

Maybe the company which build it can release some sort of firmware update to prevent monitors from exploding.

Don't know what it will take to get the Cards back on track, maybe beating up somebody named Bumgarner would do it. Both teams have been heading in the wrong direction so they both need a win, now.

Burnett should be fine, it's just the M's.

I know that statement isn't true, but as far as I know girls tend to swarm around social network and photo sites. They wouldn't go to nerdy websites like NG which are flooded with horny teenagers, would they? 0.o
Believe it or not, there's a fair amount of females on this site.

I don't believe it!

Actually, we could do with more.

Yes. I think I have almost convinced my gf to make an account.

Yes, but that would only get me to the castle basement! I need at least 70 stars before I can kick Bowsers ass again and save the princess!
Then get those stars and so on.

But that takes aaaaages. Unless I do the 5 minute speedrun, but I can't do that long jump trick :(

But playing new games would cost me tons of money, which I don't have. If I had money I would've probably bought a Wii long ago.
Just get the occasional new game or find a newer game that's not too expensive. Also, I thought you HAD a Wii.

I had one for a while, but it actually belonged to some friends of mine. They didn't play that much anymore though and it stood in their way, so I took it from them for a couple of months.

Anyway, I guess I could do that, but meh... I don't know, I think I enjoy classic games more. Somehow I got the feeling that they don't make that many platformer/adventure games anymore, which is my favorite genre.

Yeah, but doing a 1000 of them would take 30000 seconds = 500 minutes = 8.33333333 hours. Imagine what awesome stuff you could do instead in that amount of time.
You needed to consider the time I take to watch the flashes as well. ;) I went through 150 Clock Day flashes on Tuesday and spent most of the day doing them. Today, I'm going to see if I can take down Clock Day 2005 in one big swoop.

Again, imagine all the awesome stuff you could instead in that amount of time.

Well me neither. I doubt his movie will ever be on TV though, unless they're doing some 'crappiest movies of the 00's' thing =/
I was hoping someone would have uploaded it on YouTube but that's not the case. I guess I can just buy it from an eBay seller.

I've seldom seen a full movie uploaded on Youtube. Heck, it's already hard to find one full 20 minute episode of a series.

Alright fine! But don't come crying to me when you find out she's actually not a dragon.
The only reason why I'll be crying is if she cheats on me again!

Oh and she will! I bet she's secretly got an eye on Coop and is pulling that old 'make him jealous by dating his friend' trick.

Yeah, we still need to find out what's up with that.
I tried asking him that but he couldn't hear me at the time and then got caught up with other people. I had very little time to talk to him and there was a few other things I wanted to say such as wondering how the office reacted when I won the Behemoth chicken.

Oh well, I guess he is a busy man. I bet everyone wanted to take a picture with him.

Yep, and it's a catchy title for our first single.
Finally we can make a move with taking over the audio portal. Although, I remember saying to Coop at the meet that it would be great if he was an audio mod but he wasn't too keen on it. :P

Damn. Oh well, we're just gonna take over the audio portal fair and square then. By being as epic as Queen!

Then we'll take over the hitcharts in the UK and USA, kicking those attention whores like Lady GaGa and Justin Beiber out.

Ironically enough, I can not think of a good pun with the 'funny bone' in it. Go ahead and make fun of our language.

Anyway, so when I whack you on the head, you will get all tingly now? That's gotta be annoying.

I was very excited to go and see The Expendables somewhere soon, cause I thought that had to be the ultimate action flick with that kind of cast. But alas, I heard it was a great disappointment from anyone who has seen it. I might go and see it anyway though.
Search on YouTube for "Geriatric Action Heroes" I believe it's just this, but someone thought it would be a good film.

"All of these old action heroes. Plus we can kill that bastard Statham off as well!"

You mean the Headcases one? Lol, yeah I heard it was kinda lame like that. Old action heroes being old. Jet Li and Mickey Rourke being the only ones with a good role I heard, but they didn't get that much screentime. Or not enough.

I would've expected Jason Statham would do well (actually he was my only hope that this movie would actually turn out to be good, instead of a B movie action flick thing), but I've heard nothing of him.

Too bad Jean Claude van Damme passed for The Expandables. He could've saved the movie! (well, I heard he is playing in some decent movies lately)

In any case, this needs to be redone because this idea is just too awesome. Next time they gotta bring in guys like Vinnie Jones and Clint Eastwood as well. And let it be written by Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarentino.

I'm sure your gf will appreciate you saying that every time she brings you some coffee or tea.
She knows that I hate coffee. Plus she rarely makes me tea, I have to do it myself, or go to my parents or friends houses to get served :P

Well you can throw out that joke over there. But maybe more like: If this is vodka, bring me beer. If this is beer, bring me vodka.

Don't forget your Lincoln hat while pulling off this joke.

Thesis? Well I heard you generally have to finish that at the end of the summer, or at least that's what they have to do here. But I know a lot of people are waiting and searching for months before they finally get their thesis ideas approved.

Well I don't know any better, so it's no big deal for me. I guess maybe the older students won't like it though, but I am unaware of the changes.
Here even the Bachelor students don't like the bachelor. And I can see why: It's way too much stuff to do in a too short amount of time. Plus, they HAVE to be in all the lectures because they all have a compolsory attendance. Very annoying.

Heh, luckily I don't have a compulsory attendance for lectures. If so, I might have quit my studies some time ago cause listening to all those boring ass lectures that cover 10 lines of text in 2 hours would've driven me crazy.

Unpossible. Unless we'll call ourselves "Scheepskamelen".
Sheep camels?

No, google images suggests that it has something to do with ships, not sheeps.

Brilliant sketch by one of Hollands finest comedian groups. I don't think you can follow it though.

I just bet you would've done that as a German guy.

http://www.forvo.com/word/swaffelen/

Now that I heard the correct pronunciation, it is pretty close to a sch at the beginning actually =/
People here do both the "schwaf" and the "swaf", so I guess there's no real "correct" pronounciation.

Maybe not. It doesn't really sound like a dutch word anyway, more like something people from Aruba brought over.

Yep, like the name Achmed contains the ggg sound. In Spanish the J is also quite similar to ggg but I can't think of any other languages.
Scots and gaelic, maybe. And welsh of course. The "LL" is a similar sound.

The LL? Lol.

At 8/19/10 06:10 PM, Fro wrote: How long were you guys together before you asked her to marry you?

jesus, I don't remember. I think a year? I remember we got a free dinner and a night at the super swank hotel we were both working at. (like $600 a night rooms, stars stay there when they come to the area kind of hotel)

Was this with a lot of help from family or not? I'm assuming both sides of the family will help out quite a bit with money on top of us both saving up for it.

oh, that was $10k of our own money. Her parents paid for some of our reception and my parents pitched in a little bit for flowers and the cake. The rest of was like, "oh, we saved up enough for the dress." pay for that. a couple of months later we saved enough up to pay for the deposit for the band. a couple of months later the deposit for the cake. ect..

To get a degree in law enforcement in the local area I think it's a 2 year degree. I already have one year done as all of my general education classes would transfer over and I would just have a years worth of classes to take.

I checked out a couple of police agencies to see what their qualifications were and yeah, it seemed to be 60 credits worth of college or an associates degree or 2 years of military service. If you have a good GPA and no felonies you should be fine.

When I went to a community college out of high school I wanted to do business, but I did a liberal arts program just in case. It was a good decision because when I got my associates degree and transferred I applied to the criminal justice program of my new school...but by the time I showed up for orientation at the new school I wanted to do political science with a pre-law minor. When I realized I couldn't do that in time to graduate on time entering into my senior year I changed it to social science. Lots of changes early on and really late in the game. You'll likely change your mind a few more times before you graduate.

One word of warning I have is to avoid specializing in your first 2 years, even if you plan on transferring to another school in the same major. I had a friend who did criminal justice at a 2 year college, and even though they had a bridge program with a nearby state school criminal justice program, he still wound up having a heck of a time getting all of his needed credits for his bachelors degree in criminal justice. He told me he wished he had just done the liberal arts degree in junior college just because the criminal justice classes sometimes didn't transfer or the 4 year school had some general education requirements he missed out on because his schedule was filled with criminal justice classes in junior college.

and, if you keep your credits very basic easily transferrable classes, if you decide to continue your education down the road you can jump right into what you want to learn. I know a lot of police departments have tuition reimbursement programs so you can get that 4 year degree after a few years of working and making money and you won't even have to take out a student loan. might even get a living stipend from the department while you're in class. Always something to think about for promotions.

Yeah, I'm just going to finish my current degree and see what happens from there. In my area there's a lot of rich home schooled kids that the parents pay for someone to teach them at home. It actually pays better than a regular teaching job and you only have one child to worry about.

another friend of mine got a math degree and has been getting job offers at private schools. They pay more than public schools and don't require you to have a teaching certificate

Maybe this is what Malachy was talking about when he was talking about pretending to be interested. Oh god she wants Jonas Brothers sheets for the bed as well... Maybe she'll grow out of it, but you wouldn't even think she would be into it as usually it's for the 13 year olds.

She'll not only want a set of jonas brothers sheets, she'll want a set in 900 thread count Egyptian cotton, a set in silk, a set in blue to match the bed skirt...

A few minutes, but what would they tell me? That they want to operate, when I don't like the idea of surgery at all.

While it probably would be annoying to have a doctor pestering you to have surgery, it might be beneficial to know what exactly you have.

Well what kinda hat are talking about here that's so nice to look at?
It's a black fedora, with white pinstripes.
Yes, that's definitely worth looking at. The fedora needs to make a comeback since to me, there is no simpler yet more effective way to look important and classy.
I must go and buy a black pinstripe suit now, to match. Then I'll look the dogs bollocks.

Starblind, eh? Sounds like an appropriate song for Starcraft... Even though I've never played it before.

EVE is much better - Starcraft doesn't get lost on the bloated behemoth that has become of Blizzard, since they forgot about the true meaning of Warcraft.

I was actually going to ask that, but I couldn't think of the Dutch to English translation. We call it a telephone bone =|
Awesome! International punchline fun!

*removes elbow* Hello? Yes, I'd like to make a claim - I was injured in an accident that wasn't my fault. Somebody threw a cricket ball at me and broke my telephone bone. Yes, I'm calling you from the other line.
Ironically enough, I can not think of a good pun with the 'funny bone' in it. Go ahead and make fun of our language.

Well, the bone is called a funny bone in England, so funny, plus telephone = that.

Anyway, so when I whack you on the head, you will get all tingly now? That's gotta be annoying.
No worse than brain freeze, when you eat some really cold ice cream.
Remind me to give you plenty of whacks on the head if I ever meet you at an NG meet.

Why can I sense that a comedic inflatable hammer will be brought along.

Yep, I love those kind of movies too and also the B-movie type with guys like Steven Seagal XD

Ah, I might have to watch it then. And not just on DVD...

I would've expected Jason Statham would do well (actually he was my only hope that this movie would actually turn out to be good, instead of a B movie action flick thing), but I've heard nothing of him.

The only thing I know Statham for is knobbing Kelly Brook a few years back.

Too bad Jean Claude van Damme passed for The Expandables. He could've saved the movie! (well, I heard he is playing in some decent movies lately)

Yeah, like this movie could have been saved by a man like Van Damme.

In any case, this needs to be redone because this idea is just too awesome. Next time they gotta bring in guys like Vinnie Jones and Clint Eastwood as well. And let it be written by Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarentino.

Or just gas the lot of them?

She knows that I hate coffee. Plus she rarely makes me tea, I have to do it myself, or go to my parents or friends houses to get served :P
Well you can throw out that joke over there. But maybe more like: If this is vodka, bring me beer. If this is beer, bring me vodka.

I'm not a fan of either, to be honest.

"If this is SoCo, bring me some Jack. If this is Jack, bring me some SoCo."

Don't forget your Lincoln hat while pulling off this joke.

I don't have one... yet.

While it probably would be annoying to have a doctor pestering you to have surgery, it might be beneficial to know what exactly you have.

I have a niggle. Nothing more, nothing less.

I must go and buy a black pinstripe suit now, to match. Then I'll look the dogs bollocks.
Is that a good thing? That's not something I'd want to look anything like. Anyway yes, definitely get a corresponding suit. Then post a picture of the entire ensemble.
Damn, I don't have the hat with me today. I'm working in the suit. >:(
It'll be so awesome, I can feel it. You should count the number of comments you get from co-workers.

Three - all of my co-workers seemed to love it.

Oh and looking the dog's bollocks is a great thing.
Okay, just making sure. Apparently I'm not very familiar with foreign slang.

Well, you learn something new every day.
