I submitted a game yesterday and won daily 4th place. It was somewhere around a 3.8, but was slowly downvoted all day and night. Oh well, I'm happy with the 4th, even though it would have won 3rd if it wasn't downvoted.

Servers shutting down is a common thing in IT. Blizzard is still in business as well, but they shut down the servers for playing Diablo 1 online a long time ago.

But these are games themselves we're talking about. There's no way they'd stop people from playing certain games to save servers. Not until they go bankrupt.

I wanted to stay in college longer but I already changed my major once, which caused me to be in school longer than the average and I didn't want to bury myself in more debt than I had to, like you mentioned.

But yeah, I miss the learning aspect the most. You don't do much of that after you graduate; there is no one to teach you, to push you knowledge-wise anymore.

Just saying that I don't like the idea of Steam.
I don't want to be online all the time to play the games I want. And I don't want to load up another program to play a game (well, I have to in some cases like old DOS games which require DOSBox or some emulated games... but I don't like to do that as well ^^).
Plus I want to be able to play the games I purchased in 20 years+ as well. And I also like to go to flea markets or garage sales to "hunt" for the games I want.
Plus it is always nice to know you could simply resell a game if you don't like it.

Those are all things Steam doesn't offer me.

I wanted to stay in college longer but I already changed my major once, which caused me to be in school longer than the average and I didn't want to bury myself in more debt than I had to, like you mentioned.

No me neither. It would kinda suck if you just got out of school and see that you are 10,000+ euros in debt. Of course you could probably pay it back within a couple of years, but still... I'd rather spend that money on other things. Like I'll probably be busy finding a house and such.

Exactly. Any student loans you take out have to be paid back in ten years; that the law. So if you rack up lots of debt then you will have to pay back more per month.

After securing 250 B/P this week I'm so close to 3000 saves and Corporal that I can practically taste it. 1000 blams feels like it's going to take forever though. Which I suppose is a good thing; means more people are submitting quality flashes than garbage lately. There was a point in I think February when at least half the flash submitted each day was utter trash.

Lol, I don't know if you still had lectures the day after, but I've always found those people a bit strange. The people that just get drunk on normal weekdays while they still had lectures or projects the next day. Of course I can see the fun and you don't necessarily always have to show up sober, but I wouldn't want to turn it into a habit or anything.

No me neither. It would kinda suck if you just got out of school and see that you are 10,000+ euros in debt. Of course you could probably pay it back within a couple of years, but still... I'd rather spend that money on other things. Like I'll probably be busy finding a house and such.

Exactly. Any student loans you take out have to be paid back in ten years; that the law. So if you rack up lots of debt then you will have to pay back more per month.

Hmm laws are slightly different here I believe. You won't have to pay anything back in the first five years, but afterwards your debt will increase with like... 2% per year or so (just like an ordinary loan, except cheaper) and then you have to pay it back within some amount of time.

Fortunately you will receive the first five years of student support as a 'gift' so if you finish your study in the minimum amount of time you won't have to pay anything :)

Nah, and I heard that once you start working and stop studying, it's gonna get harder and harder to get back into studying and learn new things.

I would think it would be hard to go back to school once you start working because there is little time for it but I'll manage with night classes and such. Of course that down the road for me.

Aw, but I think night classes would suck. Or at least, there is indeed not much time and if you're already working 40 hours a week I wouldn't want to spent the evenings following courses. But I guess you don't have much choice these days...

Yes, there are some student jobs that you can only get when you have a pre-degree. But it's a bit pointless anyway. ^^

Well if you can get a better summerholiday job with it it's not so pointless :) All I can get at the moment is stupid, repetitive jobs that require as little thinking as possible and earn as little as possible.
