Sure there are shades of gold but that really deals with how much light reflects on it. Place a piece of gold in a dark closet and it's black; put it in full light it's golden.

These guys aren't having any trouble with the new version. Could it be a script or add-on you have interfering?

I don't think so. I've been having trouble with Firefox as well now actually. Similar problems arise. But I think the reason might be that too many people are on the internet here. NG is a pretty heavy website and perhaps my dad and brother are downloading tons of stuff at the moment so that my connection becomes incredibly slow =/

Hmm more people who weren't happy with the Gamefaqs contest, what a surprise. Honestly I'm getting fed up with them because it's the same damn characters every year, including the same handful of joke characters (L Block, Missingno) and it's always so easy to predict what's going to happen.
Any character from really popular Nintendo games will do well and any Final Fantasy character will do well, and considering at least half the characters in the contest fall into these categories it's pretty easy to predict what will happen. Easy enough for me to come out of it with a score of 358 anyway. Only big mistake I made was having Aerith win everything up to the quarter finals and then she lost first round.

I seriously have no idea what's causing my connection problems with NG at the moment. Apparently it doesn't matter how many people are using the internet here or which browser I use. In both Firefox and Opera, NG only partly loads or doesn't load at all. Other websites work fine on the other hand.

It's not just you, I've had a few problems loading some pages here as well. Other sites work flawlessly. Nevertheless, I'm sure it was the site and not us.

This is why I ended up making my own contests. I exclude GameFAQs' winning and runner-up characters from my contests as well as joke "characters". Infact, even mentioning the word characters to them is insulting enough.

Yeah refreshing the page is something I had to do a lot as well. Anyway I just downgraded my Opera version back to Opera 10.01 and it works really smoothly again. Not sure for how long though, but I think this might have solved the problem. So maybe you should try to do the same if the problem arises again.

I guess maybe Newgrounds just isn't ready for the new browsers yet? I thought liljim once said that that could be a problem.

It may help to do a clean install of Opera. Save any files like the wand.dat and notes.adr, then uninstall Opera and delete any Folders manually (there are some of them, so it might be the best to use the search function to find them all).

You know the only correlation that I'm seeing is that it's a problem with you guys across the pond. I haven't any such problems at all with the site with FF 3.6.2. You can try and renew your address and clear out possible bad DNS address and see if that works.

* Flush your DNS ( Go to Command Prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter.)
* Renew your IP Address by disconnecting and reconnect your connection.

What? Their code is up to standards as far as I know (well, xhtml transitional). Even if it was a little messy most browsers can run in quirks mode and render it proper. My hunch is that it's an ISP or DNS issue if you are having trouble with both Opera and FF.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I actually don't know that much about DNS and ISP stuff so... All I know is that downgrading my Opera back to 10.01 seems to have solved the problem. Otherwise I'd still keep this older version, because I agree with Bahamut about the lay-out and sidebars and stuff. It's ugly and unpractical, so I'll stick with this version until Opera comes up with something better.

My whistle, it is gold now. I recently did a search for all the really crappy videos with EMO in their title and flagged all the abusive reviews in them, I wonder if that did anything to help...
