Believe me, I've tested it. The ABS kicks in and it just chatters when you're on ice. No real degradation of speed at all, except from the friction between tyres and ice. I found it much more effective to press the brake pedal repeatedly. If that doesn't work, slow and gentle application of the handbrake can also help, as it brakes the rear wheels, as opposed to the front ;)

I could understand if the name was changed after passing judgment but if that's what the name was from the start, then I couldn't agree more. The author's description clearly admitted to stealing my flash so there was no excuse at all!

Yeah, the handbrake will help out some but it'll just lock your wheels more and cause to you to skid. The ABS system is meant to help keep control in a stop rather than slowing you down as fast as possible. I think auto engineers figure if you can dodge whatever you're about to hit the better rather than have some overkill break system that will jerk you to a stop in seconds.

I guess if you want to stop as fast as possible, you could always try and put it in reverse. Ha!

When did I say I was speeding on ice? I pulled a nice spin yesterday in a deserted car park, but that's intentional / different :P

What was wrong with it? If it's just overheating issues it could just be a build up of dust and lent stuck in the heat sink and cooling fins. I typically have to open my laptop up and blow it out from time to time.

I do drive at the speed limit sometimes. It was this that caused some know to tear past me and get caught by the patrol car hiding on the bend over the Xmas break.
