I've been missing out on a lot of their music in the last few years though. :/ The most recent CD of theirs I own is Blackwater Park, which albeit a good one, probably is far different from most of their new stuff. (by new I mean AFTER 9/11 haha.) Any suggestions on some of their better CD's since then?

It's just that I always forget to check if a user has new newsposts.

Then make sure you never hear any of their songs. I truly was in so much pain then and you were lucky compared to me. Infact, if you ever listen to it, you'll regret saying a single bad thing about Manowar...Even though you should be already. :P
I'll never regret saying bad things about bad bands. I mean, a band that plays shitty music doesn't get better because some other band play even worse music. :P
Well, it was one way to try and make you like Manowar, which failed miserably.

It did indeed.

Obviously you'll never accept the fact that I'm right.
That's right, I won't accept it because you aren't. And because you aren't right I CAN'T accept it.
The problem here is that I'm right no matter what and you'll refuse to accept it regardless.

You're not right. That's the problem.

At 9/5/09 06:12 AM, Auz wrote: I´m not very familiar with this point system, but it sounds very interesting. So 1 goal and 4 assists is 5 points and the points determine the skill of a player? Any other things worth points as well, cause I can imagine it´s hard for a goalie and defenders to get into the spotlights this way. And also, I assume they use the points to determine the player of the year and such?
Well, each goal is one point and so is an assist. There are major trophies for the Goal Scoring (Maurice Richard Trophy) and points scored (Art Ross Trophy), which traditionally go to forwards, but Bobby Orr, a legendary Boston defenceman took home the Art Ross twice in his career - the only non-forward to do so.

Goalies tend to be assessed on Wins, save percentage and goals against average (Average number of goals conceded over 60 minutes of Ice Hockey played. Great goalies tend to weigh in with over 30 wins per season, a save percentage higher than 92% (Americans express it as a decimal though, for some reason) and a goals against average of less than 2. The best goalie in the league will win the Vezina Trophy, while the goalie(s) with the best GAA will earn the William M. Jennings trophy.

Aha so that´s how it works. The goalies part seems a bit complicated though, but I think I get it.

So they don't feel left out, the NHL awards the best defenceman the James Norris trophy. Seriously, the NHL has an award for everything :P

True, but isn´t it the same with football? I mean, they also hand out goalie, defender, midfielder and forward of the year every year. Plus European topscorer of the year. On top of that, I believe the English Premier Division also hand out similar awards for players playing in their division.

But there are no two awards for one position on the field, that´s true. And no point system either as far as I know.

Beside Phil and Gary Neville and Ronald and Frank de BOER, I only know about one half of the names listed.
Well, the Charlton brothers are a little special in England as well ;)

Charlton? That name doesn´t ring any bells here.

Mind you, George Cohen was a part of England's 1966 World Cup winning squad, then his nephew Ben was a part of England's victorious Rugby World Cup winning squad in 2003. An interesting family.

That´s interesting indeed. Although I believe it´s fairly common that sportsmen in general are good in several sports. I believe Johan Cruyff used to play baseball and could´ve made it to the professionals if he wanted to, but he choose for football in the end. I can also remember Michael Schumacher playing an excellent game of football in a benefit match. And I can probably bring up a dozen more examples.

So maybe Ben could´ve made it in the football world as well if he wanted to and George in rugby.

2 final notes. First off, I am now a Private First Class. Hooray, me. And secondly, on the subject of goalie awards in the NHL, they might as well rename the Vezina trophy the Roy trophy. I haven't played Bioshock, but probably the most epic intro I've ever seen is the one from Shadow of the Colossus, then again the whole game is an epic piece of art.
If it's that epic, I refuse to watch it until I get the game. Still need to find a good time to play it and the next PS1/2 game I was going to play was FFIX again.

Fair enough, it's really on an atmospheric and aesthetic level that it stands out, gameplay is fine but nothing spectacular. Personally it's been a while since I played, and I didn't get too far as there was a part I just couldn't figure out, if I find time I might dig it up and play it again as being older I'll appreciate the atmosphere more, and be better equipped to tackle the puzzles.

Exactly, and he did state his reasons as to why he didn't add that moment. You could say I've made a few mistakes on my Top FF tracks list myself and you know what, there could probably be a few changes done to the list but my top 10 will remain intact.
Whenever someone does a top X of Y there'll always be doubts, omissions and second-guessing yourself, so no point worrying about it I suppose :P
Exactly, I even had some people disagreeing with some of my decisions on the list. The one I remember very well is the little amount of FFVIII tracks and I thought was only fair for at least one person to complain about. However, as nice as the FFVIII soundtrack is, I much prefer the others. It still beats FFII, X-2 and XII soundtracks, though.

I suppose the whole thing can be simplified to "it's opinion" and that while a compiler would obviously invest time and thought into choosing worthy entries, there will always be complaints from those with differing opinions. It's like a Greatest Hits album, someone will always bitch that a certain song was omitted, same applies here.

Well, the Charlton brothers are a little special in England as well ;)
Charlton? That name doesn´t ring any bells here.

You've never heard of Sir Bobby and Jack Charlton? They were two of the 1966 squad and Bobby had the record for the most games player for Man Utd - Ryan Giggs broke that last year.

I know that Sir Ian Botham played football for Portsmouth during the close season of cricket. That's about the only cross-code player I know of.

Thanks for voting, Soapbubble! Your experience has been automatically deposited!

With that vote, you now have 4,440 experience points. You need 0 more to get to Level 21. The next Grounds Gold day begins in 18 hours, 30 minutes, and 28 seconds.

The more experience points you have, combined with BLAM and PROTECTION points, the more your vote is worth!

Another ugly icon. Almost at 10k total stats.

Yeah, but you should stop listening to such bad bands. :P

I was listening to Raining Blood earlier because I discovered the easter egg on the nglogs site, and I had to listen to the whole song. Haha. You guys all seen that? Click on your next BP rank picture.

Yeah, I've acknowledged the easter egg for a long time now, way before byteslinger took over. It's a nice easter egg but really annoying when you click on it unintentionally.

Thanks to:
michelinman. Only one alt has gone through it, I have five more alts that have to worry about getting it sometime. The others will either stop beforehand and one will actually stop at that specific level for other reasons.
You talking about the furry axe thing?

Yep, that fluffy axe thing. I'll give it something, it's not as bad as the level 26 shitblade.

The only album of theirs I have after Blackwater Park is Ghost Reveries. I still recommend it, however. :)
I'm gonna go preview it on Amazon now. I like their music, I just haven't been following it lately.

Sure thing. If you want a few more Opeth recommendations, just search for Opeth from my latest posts and you should come across some posts in the Metal Hell regarding the band and their later stuff. Supposedly Watershed is also worth checking out but I intend to get the remaining albums in chronological order.

Indeed so but sometimes the choices in such things is inexcusable. :P I mostly dislike Greatest Hits albums if they offer nothing new, unless it's Queen. My other exception would be if I only want one album of a band such as Cannibal Corpse. I don't particularly enjoy them as a whole studio album but a compilation with a disc or two (and not four like the one they have) would be nice.

Raining Blood is a good song, but besides that they sound boring. Hell, even Mayhem are better, even though they are stupid posers that play around with pig blood on stage. :P

I'm somewhat similar, if I'm trying to get into a band and see if I like them, if they had some sort of compilation/greatest hits album out I'd buy that as a priority, and depending on what I thought of it get other albums subsequently.

I think you´re right there. In the rare cases that I watch baseball, I never get all those seemingly random numbers that pop-up with every player.

Charlton? That name doesn´t ring any bells here.
You've never heard of Sir Bobby and Jack Charlton? They were two of the 1966 squad and Bobby had the record for the most games player for Man Utd - Ryan Giggs broke that last year.

Well I´m just not so good with legendary football squads from ages past. Although Bobby Charlton I might have heard of. Is/Was he not the coach of some team in the premier division? Or was he not the coach of the English team at some point?

Mind you, George Cohen was a part of England's 1966 World Cup winning squad, then his nephew Ben was a part of England's victorious Rugby World Cup winning squad in 2003. An interesting family.

I don´t know any players who played two professional sports at the same time. But there are plenty of players who play one sport at a professional level and are really good at several others.

No, I'm just biased as hell. I love the Avalanche. Haha. Ever since the Stanley Cup finals between the NJ Devils and Colorado where Ray Bourque got his championship in a Game 7... I cried that day. That series was so up and down. Definitely one of the greatest Finals of all time. (Again, biased as hell)

Yeah, I've acknowledged the easter egg for a long time now, way before byteslinger took over. It's a nice easter egg but really annoying when you click on it unintentionally.

It's mostly annoying to me because that is one of the best intros to a song ever, and the version it plays never goes into it, so I always have to open iTunes and play the full song after I hear it. Haha.

You talking about the furry axe thing?
Yep, that fluffy axe thing. I'll give it something, it's not as bad as the level 26 shitblade.

That ones not that bad! Haha. I think the fluffy axe is in a category by itself, but if anything above the first few levels comes close, it's 15 and 24.

Well i'm ranked 2,001st right now, and I've gotten 43 B/P today, so as soon as the rankings update themselves, I should be in the top 2,000 B/Pers. Not great, but not bad. :)
