Houston was 2nd place of 2009, AFAIAC. B) to me, the 7777 is far more a strong feature of that number than the 37 thousand part of it.

C) A number like 33,337 would be far worse to me. An actual 37 at the END of a number* (or a 37 on its own, of course, the very worst of all) is far far far worse than a number that just happens to have a 37 in the middle like a 423765, say, or your 37777 retirement number.

Take You Down. I see some comments claiming that it was a very early Achtung Baby try-out. Has bits and pieces from the solo´s of Lady with the Spinning Head, The Fly and Ultraviolet somewhere.

The music is almost identical to the 4 minute Lady... but the vocals... the two vox at once thing is very experimental, so it's no wonder THAT version of Lady never made it onto AB (still wish the final version had), and... I don't think the words are anywhere near as fun/cool sounding as Lady's... also, there's one spot in the song that really reminds me of another U2 song's lyrics... can't put my finger on it. May be another b-side, in fact. Ugh... can't figure it out.

Well there is "Wake up dead man". And at 3:25 it sounds very similar to the intro of Ultraviolet although the lyrics are slighty different. But it´s the same melody.

For the rest I can hardly follow the lyrics because of two voices singing different things.

Don´t know many of the B-sides of U2 singles either, although I like Salome and right now I´m listening to Big Girls are Best which sounds really good. To my suprise it´s the B-side of Stuck in a Moment while it sounds like it comes straight from the AB era.

Anyway, wild. So glad they kept the music and changed the lyrics.

Anyway when searching for the song again, I found this. Seems like an even earlier version of the other take you down song. Although it doesn´t really sound the same.

You can hear some parts of Until the End of the World. And you can even hear Bono giving instructions to the band. Somewhere near the end at about 5:00 also seems to sound a bit familiar...

Anyway, it seems like they really wanted to have Take You Down on AB, but derived half of the album from that song instead.

Well, you COULD say that, but you have to remember that Valve keeps adding stuff to TF2 and changing how the classes work, and there's constantly new custom maps being made by TF2 players.

Speakin' of Dublin*.... have you been to a U2 concert? The two I've been to where my fave two concerts of all time (and I've been to... uhhhh... at least 40-50 or so, in my life), but then again, I've never been to a metal concert, so... I can't compare any of my concert experiences to your Metallica or Whitesnake ones.

(* - not because all Irish people MUST love U2, but rather because I know U2 often starts or ends tours in their home town, and probably plays the most tour dates there in Dublin vs. any other city in the whole world, except perhaps New York)

Personally I don't like U2 at all, Bono especially. They'd be popular enough in Dublin (they own a lot of property in the city centre) but they're not my cup of tea, and a lot of others in the south would share my view. I respect them musically, but in my view they're a bit up their own arse about being the "biggest band in the world", although you could blame the Irish media for purporting that. I thoroughly enjoyed the Soth Park episode feautring Bono though: linky.
