I learned this a few weeks ago: It doesn't matter if the foul was intentional or not, a foul is a foul. So, even if a player slipped on wet ground and then accidentally tackles the opponent, he still can get a red card if he blasted a scoring chance.
I have not seen the scene in question so I don't know if the foul itself was so bad that a red card was justified or not. But the intention doesn't matter in this case.
Also I think the ref will never be seen in the Champions League (or an international match) again, he was VERY bad from what I have read so far.
Also also, Barca stands no chance against ManU.
