Well I'm making progress, but I'm itching to use the net more, and also play some games that are locked away on my laptop. It's quite boring being in the real world again :P
Oh I saw Rage Against the Machine in and was up the front so I nearly died, as well worth it.Awesome! Three... very different bands, but I'd love to see them (and haven't).
Saw REM, Aphex Twin among others, was an excellent weekend indeed
I know, that was the great thing about the festival, the bands were so diverse. I got to see people I've always wanted right after one another.
Ah you not really old, we still love ya no matter what age ya are :PAwww shucks. Thanks, man.
If you got internet connection you could be 13, and we'd never know. Age don't matter :P
Haha, not anymore, but it once was. Damn you MTV generation & video games :PThey're the reason bigger brains and taller bodies are never gonna happen? Whoa. O_O
Yup, trust me I'm a scientist. Even though I may be a computer one, I'm still a scientist :P
I know, he just sings that way, I noes :D I still like U2 just because of how good they are after so long.Well, that's one reason to like them. I still like U2 because of how awesome their stuff from 1980 to 1991 still is to this day.
They've changed with the times but still sound like U2. If Bono only shut up once and a while :P
They are suppose to be one of the best bands live, and I still haven't seen them yet. Which is disappointing. But the niche they've fallen into is kinda like everyone likes them. And that is really what makes a band so great. Also they're music RAWKS :PI saw them on the POPmart tour and the Elevation tour, but did not see them on the Vertigo tour, alas. So.... two of the last three post-album tours.
Well I've heard them practising for their Vertigo tour. The stadium they were playing was near a place I use to stay in dublin. Like a whole day of free U2. Was pretty awesome :D
My gf's never seen them, and she woulda loved to seen them in 2001 but was not in town when I went to the Elevation show, alas. Damned expensive tickets...
Well you've got time to save up I suppose. :P
Yeah I know, I meant now. But I can see you're very passionate about teh U2zWell, I like a lot of music, but I think of them as my #1 favourite. I have around 32 U2 CDs. And maybe like 8-10 R.E.M. and Led Zeppelin CDs are my second and third most, so... that should say something, I suppose?
Jesus, that's alot of U2. I don't think my dad has that much, and he's another uber fan.....
I've been longer and I'm only 19 :P Tis in my blood, but yeah I know you seem to be one of these UBER fans that you hear about :DWell, I'm just saying I ain't no bandwagon fan, wasn't trying to actually get into a "I WAS A FAN FIRST" type thing, or even something bearing a slight resemblance to such a travesty. #;-}>
Well I think you're a fan, so you're ok in my book :P
I actually had War on tape around 1988 or 1989, and I liked it a lot, but I never really heard any other U2, so I can't say I was really "a fan" at that point. I guess you could say I've liked U2 since 88, but only really came to know them and be a fan in 1993 (which is when I heard Pride on a TV advert for the "In the Name of the Father" movie and found out from a friend at school what album it was from... he thought it was either War or Unforgettable Fire, I ended up buying both CDs, and of course discovered I already knew some of the songs on War fairly well, and that the very next album was hiding what would become my favourite U2 song, track #2 on Unforgettable Fire.... I got Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby and Boy and October and Rattle and Hum and Zooropa within a few months of that discovery, and the rest is history).
Well you couldn't of fallen for a better band in my reckoning. And it sounds like you really have fallen for em. I've found recently that I know the words to U2 songs that were being made around my birth. So there must have been alot of it playing in my childhood. Which is kinda cool. :D
Yeah I hear ya. But I bet if you had Guinness from Ireland, you'd be blown away at how good it is even compared to what you get over in the USYes, I've heard enough people say/write that it's better in Dublin to know I should damned well be jealous of the likes of you for that reason if no other. #;-}>
Still have to go on the tour of St. James' Gate where they make the stuff. And they've got special editions and brews in Ireland. Don't know about the US, also how much is a pint of Guinness where you are. Just out of curiosity?
Haha, but I'm allowed as I live in TEH EURO, with our currency of POWER :PYet you guys (Ireland as a whole, I mean) voted against something most of TEH EURO wanted to be voted in. #;-}>
Yeah, but that's cause that recent treaty, I think that's what you mean, took away our liberties etc. I voted NO. We were also the only country with a vote given to the public, all the rest were put infront of governments. So the real voice of Europe wants NO really :P
Haha, Shanus' American history > gfoxcook's :PHEY NOW. #;-}>

Which is 'Pride'?
I heard a new album is coming out by the end of this year, and after that they´re gonna go on tour again in 2009 (heard they were coming to Rotterdam on the 10th of June ´09). So there´s your chance. Tickets are quite expensive though, about 130 euro´s :(Already? That seems ahead of pace for how they've been since 1993 (what with Pop in 1997 (SO FREAKING LONG AGO NOW, it's amazing), ATYCLB in 2001, I think it was, and what... HTDAAB in 2006? 2009 will be almost like their 1980s album release pace. O_O
Nah, HTDAAB was released back in 2004.
I think you´re confused with the 'U218 singles' album which didn´t contain much new stuff, except two new singles (which weren´t too good imo). Can´t really be considered a 'new album'.
So they are keeping their usual pace of one album every 3~4 years (and a few "Best of..." in between).
