I was modded? When was I ever modded? And no, I never "nearly DOSed the site," the actions I was taking never affected site performance to a significant degree. The problem was that it had the potential to cause problems.

Exactly the point - we are the ones who decide what is an achievement, as we make the lists. We don't respond well to being flamed about our hobbies.

Though I do remember when everyone did give congrats for that but it feels like it was so long ago even though it hasn't even been 6 months yet.
Under the old system, we never used to congratulate levels 2-9 because they took 5 days each to achieve. It's not that much now and by ignoring people who blatantly spam the place, we hope they get bored and go away. From then, they can either return with worthwhile achievements or not at all, both of which suit me.

I would primarily define +1 posting as the former option, namely, users whose posts are devoid of any useful or new information, and are blatently just posting in order to add to their post count. Whilst we are getting a fair few of these types of users in this forum lately, we do also get the other type of +1 poster, who, like you said, may be posting in good faith, but who nevertheless post useless information. Either way, whether in good faith or not, when repeated many times over, both become an irritation.
Mmm, yeah, I can see why. Is the first kind of post actually allowed on the BBS?

So... in essence, you're saying "aside from everything that has changed, the system hasn't changed, therefore, anything and everything is possible"? Well, yes; that's certainly true.
And of course it's possible to for the sliding scale to reappear. It's also reasonable to assume that it's possible for that to happen (obviously, since it IS possible), but it's not reasonable to assume that it WILL happen, even if it's "probably", "more likely than not" or even "with a more than theoretical chance". There is absolutely no evidence for that, and much evidence against it.

Yeah, not too sure about this one. My personal standards dictate that total stats are only achievements every multiple of 5,000, seeing how it's EXP, B/P, Posts, and Reviews put together. It's just too easy to get multiples of 1,000 in total stats.

Well, yeah. If people are going to get pissed off and flame us when we don't congratulate them for something that we don't consider an achievement, then they shouldn't come here.
Given that the system seems not to have changed, aside from the new levels / fixed requirements, I find it reasonable to deduce that it is possible for the sliding scale to reappear, once a user reaches level 60 and continues to deposit.
I think there's arguments for both sides with this one. I can see the sliding level requirements returning once someone reaches level 60, but we won't know for certain until someone does get there, which won't be for a while yet. So let's all enjoy this period of static level requirements =)

No, it's a bannable offense. "Bumping any old topic without a good reason and new information" is against the rules. I think a handful of users may have been banned for it, though you can never really be sure if they've been banned or if they just get bored and stop posting.

Mmmm. Well, in the end, it probably doesn't make a difference, I suppose - after all, the purpose of a ban is ultimately to cause the problematic behaviour to cease, so if people stop posting on their own, that works, too.
