Well, personally I really listend to those songs I put up there, and I don't care what others think about it (and sometimes only people who understand german can read what I am listening to ;) ). If I listen to "Insane Clown Posse" I put that in there. If the next song Winamp brings up is from Cyndi Lauper (yep, I have two songs from her ;) ), then I put that up there, too.
So, now one may ask why I bother to make a "Listening to:"-List if I don't care what people think about it? Because I am interested in what other people listen to and maybe they are interested what I am listening to. But I still don't care what others think about my taste of music ;)

That's good. ^^ FWIW, BTW, I don't actually think that people are not listening to the songs they put in there - I just sometimes have a feeling (again, generally speaking!) that the knowledge that these songs will be listed in a public post may influence what people listen to in the first place.

In other words, I think that some people might just skip over that Cindy Lauper song if it comes up, for example, and hope that something "better" will come up next. Similarly, I think that people whose taste is less "cool", so to speak, may be kept from posting these lists at all for fear of being looked down upon or having their taste sneered at. (Not necessarily openly, of course, but still.)

Ah well. :)

BTW, people who're interested in what *I* listen to can check out my last.fm (which, I freely admit, has more than its fair share of embarassing stuff, from Sesamstraße to Bill Ramsey... ^_~)
