Yeah it does suck and discourages many users about depositing. Too bad Tom didn't make new levels sooner but the choice was his. I think you'll have only like half of what it is now to level up, like 500 or 600 hundered points now that the levels will be doubled.

Also, good job with 19k blams Mr.Firestorm, I only just hit 19kb/s when I got my Colonel badge way back when. But yeah, I'll save my other one for later. :)

Recently, I've been getting more, protects than blams on any given day... and this has been going on for a while now. I've noticed two main things:
1: Massive increase in content submitted by 'groups of users'. SS, Plastic People, Kitty Krew, etc etc. This means insta-protects. (Not that I ever vote anything above 2 on that crap).
2: A real decrease in <100kb 'first flash' shit. I don't know why, but there just seems to be way, way less n00by flash than there used to be.

People can argue that it doesn't belong on the site all they want, fact is it's there, and they don't have to watch it.

Back in the ol' days, when a 4-5meg file was considered huge, I think less people had cable internet, and as a result the bigger files (more commonly saves than blams) stayed in the Under Judgement phase a lot longer than the smaller files letting people like me - who are normally on the portal when all the American's are asleep - have a crack at getting more protects than blams.

I'm getting myself around 2:1 but I'd love to get most of my weekly points with saves, it's much more fulfilling to see great flash - I might even write more reviews as well, fulfilling another stat-based urge!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that feels this way. I was thinking to myself this week that I thought the Portal felt different. So many 'insta-protects' are getting through and I noticed that high grade submission from non-popular authors are even more disperse than before.

Frankly though, I tried to blam the extra-lame group submissions and I'm pretty sure that if all the 'big guns' tried blamming them too, they wouldn't get through. Not that it's that important anyways.
