Hurrah, I finally levelled up my blam/protect rank to Elite Guard Sergeant First Class today, and at the same time snuck inside the top 500 ranked b/p users!! :)

Is a long way to go until the next rank though, in both b/p and experience points :(

Two more days and I'll be level six :) Damn, I'm proud. of myself.

One question thought. How many times do you have to blow whistle to gain a better one. I really, really badly want that nice silver one :)

And btw, thank s to schneelocke who give me my firs words of encorugment on this forum on page 1400 of this topic.

Sad but true. I've got a lot more stuff going on now instead of NG: Retrogade, World of Warcraft, a couple of personal software projects, and of course college. I'll try to bounce around here a bit more often, though; I'm online most of the time, anyway. Heck, I've still got all of the data from all those NGTL runs; maybe I'll try compiling them into an archival program.

Well, I've been juggling an idea around for the last hour, and I'm feeling a bit creative today, so here it is:

Phase 1: Use the last-pull NGTL data to make a list of known username-profile matchups to make a Newgrounds user search program. If username not found, program will try BBS search for posts by that username, or Google search. If a new username is found for a profile, or a new profile not listed by NGTL is found, username is added to an override list that is sent to my server each program run. I'll have a script on my server that will compile each user's override list into a master list that each user's program will download each day.

Phase 2: Build profile stats and calculator abilities into the program (use code from NG Lister for pulling profile info). Possible plugins for Firefox and/or IE to pull profile info as a user browses NG (BBS, Portal, user listings, profiles, etc.) (that way information is only pulled once, eliminating extra server strain; this little breach in privacy will be made VERY clear to end users).

Phase 3: Build archival NGTL stats into the program. Possibly allow users to store information over time (they would have to run the program themselves to do it; no automated data pulling).

So what do you guys think? I'll build in a "kill" switch so that, if a file on my server has the kill command, or the user can't access my server, the program will not touch NG's servers. I've covered all my bases, as far as I can tell: no automated data pulling, and any data that is pulled would be considered normal user behavior. My question is: do you think there would be any demand for such a program? Is it a good idea?

Sad but true. Past experience has told me that automated data pulling is frowned upon here.

Of course it's a good idea, but would people accept you vs. wade (MMM HIS SHIT TASTES GREAT ):< ) or as i found myself saying in the middle of one of those phases "wtf did he just say?" aka understand and be intelligent enough to make good use of it, doubtful. Don't worry, most of that stuff was behind-the-scenes info. Basically, it'll start out as a username search tool that uses old info but gets new info every day through the combined efforts of everyone using the program, rather than a 1.5 million profile download. Then, later on, it'll do calculations (like experience points, etc.), show archived stats and maybe let you track your own stats.

Uh... I'm not really sure who the leader in the EGB is anymore. I used to be that EagleRock. He still is pretty much the main guy there, but I think its become whoever outranks who can boss people around, not that they do it much.

The main difference between our two clubs is that the EGB is much more of an army type convo. They do all the protocol stuff when speaking. ie. "Elite Guard Seargent Alias reporting in. Sir!" We both have the same purpose - protecting NG. But the NGDD is... a lil slow right now, not my fault. >_>
