War of the Portal - Part 4
16 - “Final Stand”
Interesting note: Story has passed 100 pages. This includes page break for each chapter, but still a huge feat.
Tom has his teeth clenched tight, staring at Gfoxcook while he thought carefully. He whispered as the others moved towards him, quietly talking about what the guard had suggested.
“What do you think?” wondered Kiba. “Will they listen to us or will they fight?”
“They can do whatever they want,” said Recon, “it’s not my life.”
Myst sighed as he spoke to Lightning. “Who exactly are these people and why are they angry at us?"
Lightning spoke to him slowly, quickly briefing the situation through. Myst nodded, finally understanding their reasons.
“We’ll work with you guys,” said Tom in a low voice, seeming to be ready to change his mind at that instant; “only if we don’t hurt you and you don’t hurt us. Is that simple?”
“Then so be it,” said Gfoxcook, “With the way things are going now, we have no choice but to work together. Are you really sure about this?”
“No!” Ramagi roared as she grabbed Tom, holding a strange blade of red flame against his neck. “I won’t allow it!”
“Ramagi, stop this!” growled SCD as he stepped to ramagi, realizing the weapon she held in her hand.
“Why did you leave us in the first place?” demanded Lightning. “We never hurt you!”
“You may not have hurt me,” growled the lady, “but your friend, Yoink did!”
“What did Yoink have to do any of this?” Kiba’s patience was running short.
“He left me!” she roared. “I loved him with all my heart!”
“I didn’t leave you,” said a familiar voice; “I never was into woman.”
Ramagi released her hold on Tom and turned around behind her to find Mazza and Yoink. Their faces were stone and they stood together holding hands tightly.
“Was that all?” Ramagi laughed. “Well, you should have told me from the start silly. I hope you have a good life with Yoink,” she looked back to Gfoxcook and the others, “alright, I’ll help you guys.”
“What the hell was that about?” wondered Kiba as Recon shrugged his shoulders.
The reformed group met up together as they discussed their plans, telling both sides of their story, learning who was capable in using the Power and who wasn’t. Yoink told their story of their honeymoon, not mentioning the death of Pure_Lionheart and ramagi was back to herself. It seemed that the hatred each person had for one another had faded and all was normal. The last stand against the final Geminus Lord was to be soon and such times to hate one another were unneeded.
The King of the Portal paced the room as he roared in anger, half burnt from the attack that had hurt him more than he intended to hurt his mortal enemies.
“We warned you,” growled one of the guards, “you should have nev–“
“Silence!” Roared the King as the guard burst in a crumple of flames. In rage, he used the Power to destroy the two other guards in the room. The only submission absent was Piconjo.
These mortal fools, thought the King; think they are immortal. But soon, yes soon, I will show them my true power. I have lost my patience and they seem ready to do anything. I must find out who the third god is before it is too late.
“Are you alright?” asked Piconjo as he entered the room, looking at the dead guards, his black eyes expressionless.
“Yes, I’m fine,” said the King; “I just nearly burnt myself up. I think tomorrow I will release every submission into this world. I will let the mortals sleep for one final night.”
“Are you sure about this,” asked Piconjo, “they have proven themselves a fair few times.”
“Yes!” The King raised his hand to an uncaring Piconjo, ready to destroy him in a ball of darkness. But he stopped. “I am sorry Piconjo. Do not worry. Tomorrow, we will all fight for our freedom. Our final stand is closer than ever.”
