War of the Portal - Part 4
13 - “A Duel”
Pure_Lionheart stood motionless, his eyes filled with a monstrous hate. “You will pay for what you’ve done to my wife to be!”
“Who the hell are you?” Panted YoinK_VineS as he glanced behind him, making sure that the P-bot had not been following. -Mazza- only stared in shock.
“I am death!” Pure_Lionheart pulled a silver axed hatchet attached on a long wooden handle; from the loop of his belt. He charged towards the man who quickly took his rod.
“Mazza,” Said YoinK_VineS in a calm voice. “Even though I don’t know what he wants, you stay out of it!”
YoinK_VineS spoke ancient words as the earth beneath the charging Pure_Lionheart began to give way.
“That’s not enough,” Grinned the man. “I’ll show you!” Pure_Lionheart leapt into the air with his axe over his head, ready to slice YoinK_VineS in half.
“You will pay for hurting ramagi!”
“ramagi?” YoinK_VineS flinched, quickly ignoring the name. He produced a barrier effect in front of him.
“Too late!” Roared Pure_Lionheart as he slammed the sharp edge of his hatchet against the barrier, which cracked like glass. YoinK_VineS gasped as he attempted to leap backwards, but it was too late. The Portal stone maintaining the barrier split from the intense force of the metallic axe, breaking in half. An explosion occurred with crimson light as -Mazza- screamed.
“Too simple,” Grinned Pure_Lionheart as he walked to a sulking -Mazza-. His face changed to a look of greed as he stared at the man who was now crying. “ramagi loved YoinK_VineS and he never loved her back.”
“How dare you!” -Mazza- roared, standing up with his metallic pipe charging towards the self talking man.
“Pathetic,” Sighed Pure_Lionheart as he vanished from the avenger’s strike, suddenly appearing behind. “You’re too slow.”
“I am not!” -Mazza- swerved behind him, to attempt to attack Pure_Lionheart in a series of consecutive strikes. All failed.
“You’re a nuisance. I will have to kill you now.”
The ground exploded before Pure_Lionheart’s feet as a man burst outwards, flying directly below the man as his fist pressed against Pure_Lionheart’s chin. The impact caused him to fly a few feet away on the ground while YoinK_VineS landed safely before the small earth hole he had dug.
“Yoink, you’re alive!” -Mazza- said as he slowly moved towards YoinK_VineS, who raised his left hand to stop him.
YoinK_VineS grinned as he took a stance. “Two things; I told you not to attack. Second, can the writer please call me Yoink?”
“I agree,” Laughed Pure_Lionheart. “My name is too long; please call me Pure. And can you please take away the hyphens next to Mazza’s name?”
The writer nodded.
Yoink moved his right hand to the very front of his pants, pulling them open. He looked down into them as he placed his hand in, fumbling. Pure stared with an expression of disgust until a look of horror filled his face when Yoink produced a silver blade.
“It’s time we settle things,” Grinned Yoink. “For once and for all.”
“No need to give me clichés,” Laughed Pure. “Just fight.”
Yoink flared forwards as he swung his blade at tremendous speed against the hacking hatchet. Yoink threw stabs and slashes, ducking and weaving as if he were taking part in a complex dance of moves and techniques. Pure complied, resisting and throwing heavy attacks back, ensuring that he would not lose.
Mazza bit his fingernails as he growled, staring at the two blurs in fear. One blink or a miss could end it for them all. He could not lose his love, not now. But what did he mean when Pure said that Yoink had hurt his wife to be – ramagi?
Yoink flared in all directions as he began to move faster, ignoring his short breath and the sweat that covered his fine body. He roared as he slashed upwards, cutting part of Pure’s face. Wind roared upwards from the fast strike as Yoink took the opportunity to attack the weak, using all his strength to smash the hatchet away from Pure’s hand, who gasped at a monstrous Yoink.
“You’re not going to…?”
Yoink took no time to listen. He grabbed Pure by the collar of his neck and thrust the sword through the man’s chest. Pure coughed blood as his eyes once filled with life hazed and his head flopped downwards. He was dead.
Mazza cried, tears blurring his vision as he stared at the violence. He was hugging Yoink’s leg hard.
“Stop it Yoink, please…stop…”
“I’m sorry Mazza…”
The power of hate and evil had filled Yoink’s blood, causing him to become a monster of terror and to destroy a man’s life without considering the consequences. The sword was a deadly weapon indeed. Yoink vowed from then on to only use his blade to protect those who truly needed protecting, apologizing to his husband once more. The two buried Pure’s body as the stared at the clouded sunset, moving onwards. They could not give up, not now. There was still more that needed to be done.
