War of the Portal - Part 4
11 - “Games”
Interesting note: Story has now reached 40,000 words.
The King breathed slowly as he looked at the world around him. Green grass with flowers and various trees growing from hills and drops and all sorts of places. This was too disgusting. The King grinned as he walked forwards, dissolving through the cloud of air.
An ancient memory tugged at his brain as he felt nostalgic yet again. He remembered the day he declared the fate humans would have to deal with forever onwards.
The four guards in blood circle stood closely as they spoke softly.
“D0GMA’s power was supreme,” Replied Piconjo. “Too supreme. I have never witnessed a moment where the Holy Ones have allied with the mortals. What shall we do now?”
“The King is foolish,” Replied one guard. “He will die if he intends to play with them. He is not aware of what they are truly capable of.”
“The King has always wanted to prove himself before others,” Muttered the second guard. “He will lose his life is he is not careful.”
“Then what do we do if this were to happen?” The third one asked.
“We will fight together.” Said Piconjo. “We will summon every power of all submissions and send them all to these mortals. That way, they cannot defend themselves.”
“Interesting indeed. We backstab the King and then we will cripple the mortals and take the world for ourselves.”
“Well, allow me to explain how the Power works,” gfoxcook said as he looked at ReconRebel, _lightning_, Inuzuka-Kiba and -Myst-. “The six, me, Stamper and the four of you are the only other people that can use the Power. We might as well teach you the basics.”
“That was bad English.” Murmured Alkador.
“I have no time going too deep, but the Power requires two things. A portal stone or a large area of opened earth. Using the Power requires a strong will and uses the stone as a key to draw power of the crimson threads in the portal. One cannot become tired in using the Power unless it is directly related to their bodies, such as sacrifice and other forms of abilities.”
“So Power requires a strong will,” Said Inuzuka-Kiba to himself. “There are some people that do not need to speak ancient to modify these threads from what I have done. But I cannot put their shape into form.”
“Don’t step ahead of yourself Kiba,” gfoxcook winked at him. “One can summon threads if they have the correct genes inside them. But it requires different genetics from using the Power. Using the Power does not require one to physically draw threads, but only mentally pull them without thinking about it.”
“It’s rather confusing…” -Myst- said. “So if we have a strong will and a portal stone, don’t we need to know Ancient tongue?”
“I was just going to get to that,” Replied the guard. “I will teach you the basic attacks of fire, ice and bolt. I will also teach you how to protect yourself from basic spells. But I cannot tell you how to throw magic back, as it requires counter, meaning you need a higher knowledge of the Ancient tongue.”
Alkador nodded. “Stamper is the only one here who can produce bodily modifications, healings and alterations to full affect. He is elite in the Power.”
The ground shook as all turned to look a hundred feet in the grass before them. It erupted suddenly as they gasped as a black cloud that flew out.
“The King of the Portal!” Cried Stamper as he quickly mobilized a protective barrier around the group.
“Greetings foolish mortals,” Grinned the King. “I was bored and I overheard you conspired with D0GMA to kill my brother. A foolish choice.”
The King flew upwards soaring high into the sky. _lightning_ summoned a bolt from the skies as it bounced of the King’s spherical shield, striking the man unconscious. The King looked down as his white teeth flashed with a smile.
“Die now.”
He began to mutter Ancient tongue as gfoxcook gasped, looking at the King who raised his hands upwards. He did not know who this person was. An enemy submission – that was all.
A single thick red thread flowed upwards from in between his palms, rolling around him forming a cacoon like sphere. It moved faster and more rapidly as it spun like a web, hiding the black body amongst the red threads that spun too fast to be seen.
“This is…” gfoxcook quickly used the stone of Dobio to summon the exact counter spell he had used with to save all from the nuclear attack. He could not remember the words, but he felt something push him. He looked behind as Stamper nodded at him.
They spoke in unison as hexagons began to appear around the white ball of molten flame, the sound of the thread still moving faster each second. The purple shapes of protection faded into existence like stars as the counter was complete.
The King laughed as he opened his eyes and released. They would lose.
