I finally got my gold bar, confused, I ranked up to First Lieutenant.

That sucks about your experience at Red Robin ReconRebel. When you say that your friends "lost it" does that mean that they laughed at you? Because if they did then that isn't very nice because what happened to you happened due to negligence.

I've actually only ate at Red Robin once... and I went there with these two really hot girls. It was probably one of my favorite times of the summer last year.

I'm at a tough situation right now with quitting mcdonalds though. This morning I had my Red Robin orientation. Then I walk into mcdonalds to work and I find out that I was employee of the month. Employee of the month gets a $50 gift certificate for the mall. Which is cool in one way and not really cool in another way. The cool thing is that Mcdonalds actually gave me something. The bad thing is that people there might hate me if I say that I'm quitting by the end of the month after just becoming employee of the month. I think the entire idea of employee of the month is so that a shitty ass place like mcdonalds can keep their good workers... they want them to stay and feel bad for leaving. hah oh well... I'm still thinking about just working two days a week at mcdonalds when I start at Red Robin. After that I could think about quitting. But there are so many hot girls that work at Red Robin and I enjoy cooking.. it's going to be a fun summer.

No. It still only takes 5 days from LV 8 to LV 9. The end of the n00b levels would really be LV 10, the first level that takes about three months to gain. If LV 9 was allowed, all the other low levels would have to be allowed, too.

That doesn't really make sense. The rules should be there to solve a problem that actually exists, not one that might possibly arise at some point in the future - and especially one that already would be against the rules, anyway. You're throwing out the baby with the bathwater here.

I think overall, the rules look quite OK. One thing I'm wondering about, though, is the following: why is there a need for rules at all? The topic is quite fine the way it is currently, after all, and the rules seem to be written in a way that would mean that more or less everything that's being posted now would still be allowed, too. Why establish rules if they ultimately boil down to a no-op?

They don't. A lot of the things I suggested aren't acceptable have been posted here for months. This place is far from fine, I don't know where you got that idea. The LUL has been growing at an insane rate and is full of minor achievements that shouldn't have been posted, and it got so bad that many of the old regulars stopped posting or even browsing this thread. Why do you think RedCircle went to the extreme of making a new lounge?

I have no idea. And I got the idea that things are fine right here - granted, I've only been following the topic for a few months, so I can't say whether it somehow got worse than it worse before that time, but it always seemed fine to me. And about the only thing that I can think of that would be against the rules is the occasional post by new(er) users (I don't really want to call them newbies - that always seems to sound condescending) who post things like Level 9, or Police Lieutenant, or so. There're not that many, though, and I think it's a good thing to acknowledge these things and encourage people to keep on participating. They just may be tomorrow's blam queens (or at least valuable users who help keep the crap out of the portal while making sure the good stuff goes in ^_^).

We need a clear set of rules to keep unneccesary posts to a minimum and restore the LUL to it's former glory, a place where people can post, come back the next day and not be faced with 2 new pages full of shit that they don't have time to read.
