Well, I can't promise I'll be posting EVERY single day here from now till you hit 10k posts, if that's what you mean by "be around," but of course I'll always be dropping by even if I'm not around much. So if that's "around," I'll be around for sure. If you have a tighter standard, then I can't make any promises. #;-}>

Nahh, I just meant that perhaps you'll still be dropping in at the time of my reaching 10k posts. My posting rate has increased lately, though, so it's looking more likely.

Of course with your posting efforts, I don't expect you to be posting at the same rate that other more "I'm-going-to-write-one-line-which-adds-
nothing-to-the-conversation-but-does-add -plus-one-to-my-post-count" users are posting at.

They'll both end at the same time - NG WILL BE LOST WITHOUT YOU :P
For one thing, no one outside of Wi/Ht? even knows me anymore. Now, if you want to change "NG" up there to "Wi/Ht?" at least you'd be closer to reality, but even then it's not true. #;-}>

Ahh, on the contrary, there are a few users who have been mentioning you in the General forums over the last day or two. Granted, these users do also frequent the Wi/Ht forums, but I didn't see one person saying "gfoxcook... who?" So I guess some people must still remember you, even if they don't mention you all that often.

I mentioned you just yesterday in the General forums as being one of the best posters that I'm aware of, no unnecessary flattering or anything, just truthfulness.

You know what to do...
Kill fake X-Naut and stuff him in the trunk of a car and take him out into the woods and bury him?

Or just increase teh statly goodness at a faster rate... Either way works :)

Oh sure. I may miss the exact day, though. I missed Coop's exact 10k posts day, for instance, but I'll be around near enough, I can assure us both of that. #;-}>

It certainly won't after.

Any particular reason/theme to these mentions of me springing up? Just curious.

A few people in General have been commenting on the lack of effort in many people's posting habits. I simply made the point that in other forums, such as Wi/Ht, people generally make much more of an effort in their posts, and thus your name was mentioned.

Now, whenever I make a post in the General forums, I try to make it slightly longer rather than just the bare minimum. Most people will likely just skip over my posts because they're too long for them to bother reading (sad but true), but as long as people are seeing more long posts in the General forums, it'll seem slightly less acceptable to make crappy one word posts all the time.

That's my hope, anyway.

Ah, okay. Using me as an example of making longer more thought out posts is a good reason to mention teh gfox, I s'pose. #;-}>

I'd be a good role model for reviewers as well, except I don't review enough!

Indeed, indeed.

I do actually have a question regarding the Regulars list and the next update, etc., which is, when are the nominations for new regulars sent out? This being my first month on the list, I'm looking forward to casting my own vote :)

Bahamut's Catch-up posts - PART ONE

OK people, here's my catch-up posts to quote the people that said something since I posted the update. I'm sorry for taking my time, but I was originally going to reply to people on either 11th of every month and/or whenever the voting election starts, and then reply to when I make the update on the 1st of every month. After NEVR wondering where I was and how much replying I did here, I'm glad to have done the catch-up now rather than waiting until 11th or 24th March.

At 3/1/08 09:19 AM, Haggard wrote: Oh wow. Never expected this.

Hey, I was allowing at least two users to become regulars this month, so you had a good chance at becoming a regular this time. :)

At 3/1/08 09:19 AM, NEVR wrote: Wow, does that mean I got the most votes? *Blushes*

You sure did! :D

Thanks Bahamut, this was a fantastic update - it's really nicely organized and very detailed, great job! :D

Thank you very much! However, I haven't made much changes to the update layout compared to Xiivi's. All I've really done is made the stat lists neater and of course, change the user URLs from the id# to http://username.newgrounds.com.

At 3/1/08 01:33 PM, Auz wrote: Thanks a lot for this great update Bahamut. Can´t find a single mistake, so good job =)

Actually, I made a few minor mistakes. They were:

-The link to the May 2006 update said 5/1/05 and not 5/1/06.
-The link to iscrulz's profile on the stat lists was messed up.
-The link to Major-Punk's profile on the stat changes list was messed up (I left out the hyphen in the URL, lol).

But they were nothing major, so that's great. :)

So it looks like we had 4 voters this month, that´s not bad. Let´s hope NEVR, life and Haggard are all gonna vote next month.

There was supposed to be another one voting, but he ended up not voting (he said that to me, so that's fine). Still, 4 voters is good considering this was the very first Regulars List update in ages.

Woh, I finished second in total gain this month, almost first. That´s pretty cool. I guess my activity has increased a lot over the years. I remember that I was at the bottom of this list and always had some of the lowest averages out of all the members.

And now NEVR is at the bottom of the list, but as the months go by, he'll be climbing up the ranks.

Thanks again Bahamut, looking forward to the next update.

You're welcome, and I'm looking forward to the time when I make the next update. :)

At 3/1/08 01:45 PM, NEVR wrote: Congrats on that! I'm at the bottom now, looking forward to the days when I'm a bit higher up :)

Heh, when I entered, I was the third lowest user on the rankings, but as time went by, I managed to get to 2nd place, but could never reach the top spot, because:

1. The Regulars List died. (obviously)
2. I moved onto the Member List last May.
3. Wylo had too many points for me to pass him.

Oh well, 2nd was still a great place.

2nd place? That's a fancy word for losing!

At 3/1/08 02:00 PM, Haggard wrote: Definetly! I always vote, when it's "Monthly Voting Time" and I sure will vote here, too.

Brilliant! Looks like there'll be about 7 or 8 users voting for the next update. :D

At 3/1/08 02:01 PM, Kirk-Cocaine wrote: Sorry I didn't vote this month. I totally forgot. =(

Ah. So I guess you intended to vote for the update, but forgot to (due to all the PMs you must get for being a moderator on NG? :P).

At 3/1/08 03:22 PM, life wrote: I guess updating the b/p list is a fast track to a regulars spot.

Yep, and that's a great reason for yourself to enter the Regulars List. :)

At 3/1/08 03:36 PM, Casualty wrote: I must say that's a very nice first update!

Indeed, and there were only a few minor mistakes, which can easily be corrected next time. It's a good thing I made some tests on my news posts with the regulars list, despite I didn't make a test before posting the latest update. Oh well.

I'm not much interested in the data

Because you were never and will never be able to become a Wi/Ht? Regular? XP

Huh? Are you saying Wi/Ht? members were allowed to vote in this election? Nobody sent me an invite. **pouts**

No, it's just Coop messing things up again. :P Only Wi/Ht? Regulars from the October 2006 update were able to vote. I know what he meant there. He was talking about not saying anything about his votings on the BBS, which I think is fair enough. Then again, I think that should apply to everyone when they're posting on the BBS.

Big congrats to Haggard, life and NEVR for becoming the newest Wi/Ht? regs! **digs for gif**

Congrats to all those who made it on the list this time around... I think I'll start checking out here now and then.

Thanks. I did incredibly well at work experience this week. I did so well, they want me to be there every Monday and Friday. :D
But not T/W/TH in between, eh? THOSE BLIGHTERS!

Well, I do need to have rest in between. Besides, it gives me time to attend my e2e courses whenever I have to go to them, although I'm not required to attend any of them next week due to staff training week. :) The sad thing about the course, however, is that my expected date of completing the course is 15th August, which is Clock Day. That I found inconvenient, but maybe I can work really hard and finish a few weeks before OR I actually get into employment at my dad's place.

The place I go to for the course said that if I get into employment, they'll be happy and I will appreciate the help they've given to me and the sessions I have taken while I am/was there. So far, I've taken useful sessions such as Health and Safety, First Aid and Interview Techniques, which I think should have been taught in high school. Well, I did cover the First Aid topic in school, but that was only the one time when I think there should have been a recap sometime incase anyone forgets anything, like I did.

Myself voting you as Most Underrated AND Best Poster for 2007 should have given you some advertisement, but it didn't. :( Also, about the BBS Awards, I managed to make it to the finals for the Most Underrated user. Myself and the other users were beaten to death by Luxury-Yacht, though, but I was still honoured to have been one of the finalists for Most Underrated.

I was like that when I was making lots of posts in the General forum. I tried my best to make every post of mine at least one line AND make many posts at the same time. Sure, I will have made one-liners to try and be funny or there wasn't much else to say (e.g. in the rating threads, I usually just said "I would like it if you were able to rate me for [whatever]"), but most of the time, I tried. On the topic starting post made by Xiivi, there was list of dates for when he (or the current regulars list updater, which is me now) would send out messages to all the regulars to vote. So according to his list, the next voting election starts on 24th March or rather 23rd March for NG because of when I plan to send out the PMs to all the regulars. Yeah, my posting has taken a sudden leap forward in terms of pace, which is odd as I'm making a concerted effort to make every single one of my posts longer these days.

At 3/6/08 03:01 PM, Bahamut wrote: Or maybe those that don't know gfox keep their thoughts to themselves.

Very possible. If somebody mentioned a user that I hadn't heard of, I'd check out their user page, and if I saw that the aforementioned user was a level 43 Supreme Commander with 9,000+ posts (so soon it'll be 10,000+ :P), then I would keep the fact that I'd never heard of them well and truly to myself.

Aware of? No, he IS definitely one of the best posters on the BBS of all time!

He's a shining beacon of posting excellence, blinding all the BBS spammers and +1 posters in his way...

I was like that when I was making lots of posts in the General forum. I tried my best to make every post of mine at least one line AND make many posts at the same time. I guess I feared the mods too much back then and wanted to avoid BBS bans as much as possible. You know what some of the mods are like, they could ban users who make loads of one-liner posts.

My inspiration for making longer posts isn't so much for fear of mods or being banned (although that is as good a motivation as any), but rather to try and set an example, especially in the General forums. I don't want to seem all self-righteous by telling users straight out that they need to improve their posting habits, but as I mentioned before, I just hope that by making longer posts myself, people will be inspired to do the same.

Besides, I'd much rather be a part of the solution than a part of the problem. So many General regulars are a part of the problem, but are perfectly happy to bitch and moan about it, whilst doing nothing themselves to prevent it.

There was one person who tl;dr'd a post of his that was only four lines long. :S

Ha, yeah. That really was ridiculous. It's users like that who are a BIG part of the problem, and generally need to leave the BBS forever.

Of course, what else?

Put the Wii inside the bag... and it magically gets painted a new colour?

Or... oh, I know, I know! Put the Wii inside the bag and smash it to bits so it doesn't make a big mess all over the place.

You know, like those websites where they smash up all the game consoles, just for the fun of making the fanboys cry?

Heh. MTE. The absence of "gfoxcook... who?" posts does not mean an absence of ignorance of who I am in General.

Anyway, I just made a single post in General, so we'll see.

Go and reply to me there if you like, go on and bump it. It'll be fun. But I ain't replying again (except maybe with gfox) for the next few days.

I mentioned you just yesterday in the General forums as being one of the best posters that I'm aware of, no unnecessary flattering or anything, just truthfulness.

Well, just as long as you don't disappear for at least a month, we'll be fine with your posting rate. :)

There ya go.

Good for you. Thanks for the effort, but it's really not necessary. I certainly would have qualified for the underrated more than the best. I'm so underrated in General, they don't even knows who I am. That's unknown AND underrated. #;-}>

Hey, I just added Luxury-Yacht to my pentalist spreadsheet. What's he like? Aside from a massive poster, of course, since I just added him from absent's last BBS poster update around the turn of the year.

Very possible. Don't forget the one he made on Valentine's Day.

Huzzah!

I'm glad you're happy. :)

Thank you very much! However, I haven't made much changes to the update layout compared to Xiivi's. All I've really done is made the stat lists neater and of course, change the user URLs from the id# to http://username.newgrounds.com.
Still, it's obviously a big job, even if you are using a pre-existing template, so my gratitude remains!

Very true. I had to get all the linkings done right since Xiivi didn't send a notepad/wordpad file of the Regulars update layout. Plus, I am handling a list that's major to the Wi/Ht? forum.

And now NEVR is at the bottom of the list, but as the months go by, he'll be climbing up the ranks.
I should hope so, too. I'm not that far behind Haggard, so perhaps I'll overtake him at some point in the next few updates.

Why not focus on the other users? But yeah, it seems you'll pass Haggard soon (sorry, mate :(...)

1. The Regulars List died. (obviously)
2. I moved onto the Member List last May.
3. Wylo had too many points for me to pass him.
Ah well. Moving up to the Member List is as good a reason as any, and with Wylo's silly amount of B/P, overtaking him would have been a long and arduous journey...

Yeah, becoming a member of the list was an honour for me, and I'm still grateful to all those who voted me to become a member (whoever they were). :D

Heh, I saw the same quote by Coop in the LUL earlier on.

We both love Futurama!

Yeah, my posting has taken a sudden leap forward in terms of pace, which is odd as I'm making a concerted effort to make every single one of my posts longer these days.

A bit like me in my days. Slightly longer posts, but still managed to post a lot.

He's a shining beacon of posting excellence, blinding all the BBS spammers and +1 posters in his way...

That and dumbass General forum users.

And a few months ago, I was talking about getting an army of mature users and try and take over the General forum. Although your plan may not work, but at least you're giving it a go and some will recognise your great posts.

There was one person who tl;dr'd a post of his that was only four lines long. :S
Ha, yeah. That really was ridiculous. It's users like that who are a BIG part of the problem, and generally need to leave the BBS forever.

Or get a 30 day ban. >:) I'd rather they take their stupidity to YouTube or 4chan. 4chan would be a great place for them to go to since many of them like to quote 4chan memes such as "IT'S OVER 9000!!!!!", "THIS! IS! SPARTAAAAAAA!!" and rickroll everyone, although Zerok has zero tolerance on the latter. Also, for YouTube, I see many retards there, so that site is appropriate for the General retards to go to. :D

Excellent. I did read Xiivi's post, but I wasn't sure if it had been changed in the course of this thread, so I thought it better to ask :)

Nah, the only things that have been changed from those guidelines are the email part, which I obviously send PMs rather than email. There's also the time I send out the PMs to all the regulars to vote, but in my local time zone, the date I sent them out is correct.

Why not focus on the other users? But yeah, it seems you'll pass Haggard soon (sorry, mate :(...)

I will do soon enough, but I find it easier in the short term to focus on smaller goals, and work my way up gradually, rather than thinking of the bigger picture straight away. I mean, when I started B/Ping all the way back in 2005, I never thought I'd get as high as I have done, but taking each level as it comes has added up over time, and I'm now over halfway to Supreme Commander!

I'll take the same approach with working my way up the regulars list.

Yeah, becoming a member of the list was an honour for me, and I'm still grateful to all those who voted me to become a member (whoever they were). :D

I've only just been added to the regulars list, but I can imagine how great it must feel to be voted onto the member list.

Hahaha... that's probably the one I was thinking of when I said I'd made another short post or two as of late. Let's see here... post #199 in my history right now, will be #200 in a moment, of course... from 2/14 in LUL, yep:

We could totally storm General if we wanted to.... but there's two problems with that:

A) even if we could get everyone currently active on Wi/Ht? to commit to going over to General and spending time making topics and contributing to topics there to clean up General a bit.... it would then make us neglect Wi/Ht?... and isn't the point that we like it here better than General, anyway?

B) I don't think we could ever truly "take it over." Sure, we could have an impact, maybe increase the maturity level over there, and reduce the amazing amount of repetitive gimmick threads that have been there for years now... I saw no less than 5 or so on the first page of General when I went over to it on 3/06 to make my "one General post" for 2008... so far #;-}>... pre hitting 10k posts....

There'd still be a flood of teh crappy General posters even with us there, in short.

No, the only hope for General is to upload some sort of virus that detects spam posters, fucks up their IP address, so they can't post in general any more. Then the users from the C&C and Wi/Ht come out of their bunkers and claim the post-apocayptic (Pun not intended) wasteland for themselves.

Heh, it's nice to see this topic getting the attention it deserves, especially after spending so long gathering dust in the depths of the Wi/Ht?'s abandoned threads.

Yeah, I'm surprised no-one else was willing to take up the list. If I didn't bring it back up now, who would have? Probably no-one. :(

For your first ever update of a list though (I am right in saying that aren't I? Or does senility strike again?) you've done an awesome job, and I think everyone can appreciate that. It's natural to make a few little mistakes - it happens all the time when someone takes over a list.

Well, I did a list for The Reviewers Club (which obviously is now dead) which just had a memberlist and a list of users who respond to every review they get, although some users got taken off due to no longer replying to reviews or just too slow. However, that list wasn't major and died when my computer got a virus back in March 2006. Ugh, awful times. But anyway, I'd declare the Regular List updates as the first actual list that I'm managing.

I will do soon enough, but I find it easier in the short term to focus on smaller goals, and work my way up gradually, rather than thinking of the bigger picture straight away. I mean, when I started B/Ping all the way back in 2005, I never thought I'd get as high as I have done, but taking each level as it comes has added up over time, and I'm now over halfway to Supreme Commander!

lol, I get ya. All the stuff I've got on this account I thought I'd never get. OK, I knew I was going to get 10k blams all the way back in Summer 2005 and would eventually get 10k EXP, but stuff like getting Supreme Commander, 10k posts, Top 15 in B/P and soon to be 100 submitted flashes are stat achievements I thought I'd never reach. For flashes, I'm only 16 flashes away and I have to admit, 4 of them will be Adolf Hitler: CAI493+D Special episodes, which speeds things up a bit. =D

I've only just been added to the regulars list, but I can imagine how great it must feel to be voted onto the member list.

It's fucking awesome. However, it depends when we're going to have another election. I don't want to sound impatient, but we could do with another one very soon.

Heh, I just hope I can keep it up and don't run out of steam.

I think you shall. Just keep up your contribution to the Wi/Ht? and C&C forums. You can still post in the General forum if you want, but as you said, it's not easy to post a lot there with the amount of shitty threads made.

Better to try and fail than to do nothing :)

We'll take our time.

I agree. All I can say is thank god for mods like Zerok. Also, bigbadron likes to give out teh 30 day bans, which is why I like him, and everyone in General hates him :)

They hate him, because he hates the posts they make. I'm glad mods like them have the common sense to ban terrible posters and quite often, giving them long bans, although permabans would be much much better.

Very true. I had to get all the linkings done right since Xiivi didn't send a notepad/wordpad file of the Regulars update layout. Plus, I am handling a list that's major to the Wi/Ht? forum.
NO FILES? Oh noe.

At least I didn't have to search for hundreds of users. I just had to look at the October update and Frostbreath's news post to get all the needed info. That was enough for me to have all the correct text for the March 2008 update. :D

If I didn't have my old pentalist spreadsheet file, I WOULD NOT BE DOING THIS UPDATE I'm working on. Trust me on that one.

Damn! 0__0

We could always balance it out. So like a quarter of our BBS time, we'd post in the General forum, and then 3/4 in the Wi/Ht? and other forums.

B) I don't think we could ever truly "take it over." Sure, we could have an impact, maybe increase the maturity level over there, and reduce the amazing amount of repetitive gimmick threads that have been there for years now...

Well, by having more mature users in the General, it would make Wade happy, referring to this news thread. I hope Wade still wishes the General to have more "intelligent, mature, and interesting topics and posts!"

There'd still be a flood of teh crappy General posters even with us there, in short.

Which is why we'll try and form an army...Sometime.

So... Better to just make Wi/Ht? as good as it can be.

Improving the General forum would make me post much more. :)

Don't want to flood the topic with too much back-and-forth convo'ing, eh? I gotcha.

Yeah, that's right. This is the sort of stuff we'd be discussing in your 10k thread and the LUL, but I don't mind replying to whatever people say here, even if it's unrelated to the Wi/Ht? Regulars List.

Don't forget that picture I did of you stealing The Last in Line CD from HMV on another planet.
Oh, I won't! I'd wager that's why I was "heh"ing, in fact.

YAY! =)

Oh yes. Smashmyxbox, Smashmywii and that. Fun videos, but the one with the PSP is the best and most destructive! :D
I haven't seen the destruction of any handhelds.... hmm... I'll have to check out the PSP destructions sometime.

Have fun.

And bring back all the other Wi/Ht? Members and retired regulars. That would be a dream come true.
All is impossible, but.... as many as possible.... would be nice.

It's impossible, because Afro_Stud refuses to come back to the BBS. That bastard!

I'LL NEVER FORGIVE MYSELF!

Oh great.

Please don't disappear for a month like you did before.
There ya go meant "I'll try not to, man." #;-}>

Thank you. :')

Yeah, I had realised that, since it was Thursday night when I hit 10k. I knew you had your M/F internshipnesses, so I figured you won't be on again till Friday. No rush, though. #-}>

I should hope so, too. I'm not that far behind Haggard, so perhaps I'll overtake him at some point in the next few updates.
Why not focus on the other users? But yeah, it seems you'll pass Haggard soon (sorry, mate :(...)

Well, his pace in B/P is higher than mine and there's no way I can overcome the shortfall in B/P with the other stats. NEVR has more posts than me anyway, he deposits his Exp daily, so that stat evens itself out... and there's no way I can write that many reviews to keep him off (at least not if I don't want to turn into some kind of KWAS71KCk/Cyberdevil :D ) .

Well you're the only dragon I know. Just make sure you 'surprise' people who wouldn't be missed were they, for example, to be eaten by a large blue dragon...

Yeah, I'm surprised no-one else was willing to take up the list. If I didn't bring it back up now, who would have? Probably no-one. :(

Fair. The only list I've done is an update of the Elite Guard Barracks roster. It's not a biggy, but I had to do this particular update completely manually, which took me a fair amount of time.

lol, I get ya. It's fucking awesome. However, it depends when we're going to have another election. I don't want to sound impatient, but we could do with another one very soon.

What is the criteria for being a Wi/Ht? member? Is there anything special you have to do, or is it just a recognition of a large contribution to the Wi/Ht? over time?

I think you shall. Just keep up your contribution to the Wi/Ht? and C&C forums. You can still post in the General forum if you want, but as you said, it's not easy to post a lot there with the amount of shitty threads made.

No, precisely. I try to post in General at least a few times a day, but it's so hard to find anything that's worth replying to. At least the Wi/Ht? and C&C forums, despite being slower than General, always have some quality threads to post in.

They hate him, because he hates the posts they make. I'm glad mods like them have the common sense to ban terrible posters and quite often, giving them long bans, although permabans would be much much better.

I know a few alts of KK members have been permabanned. Obviously it's not an official permaban, but rather a constantly-renewed 30-day ban.

It stands for Where is, How to. It is a forum board for newgrounds (you are on it right now). It is meant for asking questions and talking about newgrounds, even though some people use it just to ask any kinds of questions.
