I love going to the gym. My body is shaping nicely since I started going to the gym back in 2003.

I'll bookmark this club, just for the tips and reference.

Hey everyone, i'm back from Europe (well got back friday)... Every labor day my neighborhood has these labor day events that everyone does and yesterday there was the grove triathalon, there were about 50 people or so .1 mile tubing (cause we dont have the room to swim), 5 miles biking, and 2 miles running... I came in third place :D... I'm a little pissed cause earlier in the events my knee gave out in the 50 yard dash (even though i still came in second) and i think i could have come in 2nd but me knee hurt too much in the last 4th of the final mile... Today there is the 1 mile running race and the 2 mile biking race... I hope i'll do well in the running race (cause i did join cross country this year, even though thats to get back into shape) and well i'll probably win the bike race (biking is my strong point)...

Thanks nightmareLeecher for the sig.

Yeah those sports day like events are great to see how fit and athletic you really are. At last years sports day I came 1st in the 100m sprint 2nd in the 200m, came 1st in the relay race. I also came 1st in the 3 legged race and sack race :D

Well in the triathalon i was beat by my friend Jane who runs cross country and she passed me near the end of the last mile (cause shes a good runner and im not)... The guy that came in second is this big (large/fat) guy named Mr. Scott, hes a father of 4 and hes just incredible at sports... So in all honesty i dont think it really shows how fit you are just how athletic you are... I'll let you guys know about the races today when they are done...

Thanks nightmareLeecher for the sig.

10 Things You Can Do To Lose Fat Without Even Trying

1. Eat smaller more frequent meals - not only is your metabolism boosted every time you eat something, your body can more efficiently process smaller meals. Instead of having 3 large meals in a day, try to break them up into 5 or 6 smaller meals.

2. Drink more water - regular water intake helps to flush away waste products in the body. Get at least six to eight 8 oz. glasses per day. An easy way to do this is to keep a water bottle handy and drink from it frequently.

3. Be inefficient - do you need to go to the kitchen to get a couple of things? Break it up into two trips even if you can do it in one. Being inefficient like this can easily double your activity level, burning calories without even trying.

4. Eat more protein - foods high in protein include chicken, fish, eggs, dairy, beans, lean red meats, etc. Your body burns more calories processing protein than either carbohydrates or fats. Protein also helps to support your muscle tissue, which burns calories all day long!

5. Take the stairs instead of the elevator - any time you can add in a little more physical activity, do it. This doesn't mean you need to slog up 20 flights of stairs. Even a flight or two done regularly will add up.

6. Don't let yourself get hungry - when you get hungry you will have a much greater tendency to overeat when you do finally get something to eat. As well, because your body is starting to go into starvation mode, it will be much more likely to hold onto whatever you give it.

7. Order small portions at restaurants - it's tough to order small french fries when "supersizing" your order is such a great "value." Take note, however, your real savings will occur in the calories that don't end up on your backside.

8. Eat more fiber - fiber is very filling. By eating more fiber rich food you will find yourself full sooner. This feeling of fullness will last a long time as well.

9. Wait 20 minutes between servings - your brain takes at least 20 minutes to register that you're full. By waiting that long, you'll give your brain a chance to realize that you don't really need any more food.

10. Cheat on your diet - one thing I always make my clients promise is that they will cheat on their diet. The only thing I ask that they do is to cheat ONLY when they have planned to cheat. By planning when you are going to eat the foods you crave, you take back control of your eating habits.

Question for someone to answer:

In a few days I should be getting a new inner tube for my bike. So I'll be able to ride it again. Now since my Elliptical Trainer has broke I've decided I'm just gonna cycle. At about 6.30AM since A, its apparently better in the morning, as it burns more fat. B, it'll wake me up for college.

Now the question: Whats a good amount of distance to do? I used to do half an hour on my Elliptical Trainer at a steady pase.

I'm planning on working out more often, I've noticed VirginLungs tips seem to be very helpful. Anyone have any tips on what foods to eat to be more healthy, and a way to exercise your lungs to strengthen them? I have a breathing problem due to an anxiety issue, which is why last year when I ran in this 2.5K race I came pretty much dead last because about half way through my anxiety kicked in and I found it hard to breathe, it doesn't help living around smokers.

I should come to the NG Gym more often lol, haven't been around since it started heh.

Run or jog, like maybe, 20-30 mins a day, just to build up your leg muscles.
Cross country is always good, or even just riding a bike to your friends instead of taking the bus.

How long does it take to get a six-pack like yours VL?

a while, and heres is how to get one if anyone is interested..

How to get a 6-pack.

First of all you must have a slender waist. There is no point doing 200 sit ups a day if your have any sort of all belly. Sit ups and other abdominal excerises do not burn fat Its no good building up your abs if they're covered by a layer of fat where no one can see them is there?

You'll need to have AT LEAST a 32inch waist before you start doing sit ups etc.

To make your self more slender you going to have to so more aerobic excerises. This means more running, cycling, sports or anything which you enjoy most. Cut your calorie intake (stop eating fast food, crisps, chocolate etc) and do an hours excerise a day. Once you've got yourself a slender waist its time to tone it!

Ok there is another way to tome your abs without doing 200 sit ups a day. Train your abs every two days, this gives them time to rest. Its when they're resting is the time they're growing. 100 sit ups (or whatever you can manage) is enough.

But when I mean sit ups I don't mean lying on your back knees on the floor and you moving up and down and doing about 1 every second. I mean PROPER sit ups, ones that take 6 seconds per sit up. My favourite excerise is this: I put my feet under the bed and lie on my back. I curl up slowly and twist my torso at the same time so that my right elbow is past my left knee. I slowly twist back down again.

You can view lots of great sit up excerises here

Remember that you abs are made up of 3 different muscles so you have to train all of them.

6.30 in the morning?! Your determined, i'll give you that. Well first off what you must do to is to have a good breakfast, something light so that you don't get a cramp but also something nurishing and that will give you energy. I recommend a banana and a yogurt and plently of water.

First of all I don't really know your fitness level so its hard for me to answer your question, but i'll do my best. If your cycling HARD for over half an hour your doing well. That would be about 300 calories burnt already. (100 calories per ten minutes cycling)

The more you cycle the more calories you'll burn. But be careful. There is no point burning all these calories and then going for a burger or chips after school with your mates cause then all your hard work will be for nothing, y'know? Eat sensibly.

Check out my 10 tips for fat lose on this page for more good tips.

Whoever said you have to get slim before you start working on your abs is wrong... If you start working on your abs while getting slimmer you will already have somewhat decent abs by the time you are slim...
