In case you do note have original version of both programs, don´t count on things to work properly. In fact, even if you DO have everything original, still I wouldn tcount on things to work... but at least there´s a support somewhere for you in that case. So don´t count on things not original to work 100%, that´s the way it is.

Try opening Reason first? :/
Reason is always the midi slave program - as is it can only run as a VST type instrument in rewire mode, and not as the sequencer, unless you're rewiring it to Rebirth which is the sole case where it's the other way round.

The correct way to do it is always open the sequencing program first, but that's whats causing the error.

It dosn't seem to be something you're doing wrong, maybe a sound setup error?

Yeah I misread his post the first time, and tried to save my pride by offering another explanation, however lacking as it was haha.

I don't have much experience with ReWire. I tried to route it to cubase onetime and ended up getting frustrated.

Note: Always route your Redrum to a Mixer and combine for more control.

Ran Reason first thing this morning, was working fine.
I have just started Reason up again and now I have absolutely no sound output in any Reason song file. This is confusing the hell out of me as I've not changed a thing.
I'm probably being a fool and have managed to do something wrong, but god knows what it is!!

This is driving me crazy so if anyone has some good, honest suggestions then i'm listening.

ps... I've not muted any tracks, all the levels are still showing on the devices, just no sound is coming through. I still get sound from other programs such as ACID and iTunes.

Check preferences --> sound and make sure your soundacrd is selected. You find preferences in one of the menues, cant remember wich (cant check no reason on this comp)
sometimes that spookes out by some reason (lolreasonfng)

Is there any way to export a bunch of patches into a refill.

Simple as that

Download Refill Packer. :) You can get it off the propellerheads site but you need to have Reason registered with them. Lol. But I guarantee you another site has it.

is it possible to import a real song in reason?

Response to The Reason Thread 2007-02-13 22:27:30

reason sampleunits NNXT and NN19 can handle .wav and .aiff formats.

Also, you can import MIDI to earlier mentioned sampleunits, synths, drummachines, loopplayer etc.

If you do not know what MIDI is;

Musical Instrument Digital Interface have no sound itself. It carries data that tells the sampler/synth etc. what to play;
- What note (pitch)
- How long to play the note
- How hard the note is being pressed (velocity)

+ a few other stuff, but screw that now.

Hey. Is there any way I can get a piano-like sound in reason, without recording a real one? :)
All the pianos I've seen are weird electric ones or other strange shit ;)

Have you tried loading up the grandpiano with NN-XT? Doesn't sound all too bad with some effets.

If you don't mind using presets, you could always open up a Combinator Piano patch

copy paste from the thread u created, wich is no longer alive;

you can, if u got a midi-keyboard, no prob.

go to edit--->preferences--->page (high up) ----> control surfaces and keyboards

autodetect whatever u got and follow ev. further instructions.

also, this is a slow moving forum. get yourself together, get all info in ONE post and then wait for reply. stressing through like that (double posting, making threads before lurking) makes u look stupid only.

you have to setup the midi device, which can be done under Edit>Preferences.

At the top of the window switch from General to Control Surfaces and Keyboards on the drop down menu. If you have your keyboard setup and working in FL Studio, then you should be able to simply press Auto-detect Surfaces and be on your way. You might have to restart your computer for it to start working properly.

Would you mind speaking audio-noob language? :)
I don't know that much about this computer-audio business (yet ;) )

Ok, I'll try to make this as clear as possible.

Open up a blank Instrument Rack in Reason 3. Right click and and find "Combinator". Click that and a blank combinator is opened. Next, click the gray folder icon, next to where it says "init patch". Make sure your in the reason sound bank folder, and find the folder "Combinator Patches". Find the folder called "Piano and Keyboard". Then you can pick any type of piano tone you want. It plays like a regular module.

Hopefully that helped =)

Only that the demo doesn't have that folder.. :(

I'm not sure if you can do it with the keyboard. But I have heard that there are programs that allow you to use the keyboard as a controller. Look around google

Response to The Reason Thread 2007-02-19 19:24:31

Reason is VERY MUCH compatible with keyboards. Just plug it in and go to preferences.

no no no

you know you can play the vst's and in VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTS with your keyboard ( windowS)
in FL STUDIO

can you do that in REASON

Response to The Reason Thread 2007-02-20 07:34:09

You can not play VST´s in reason because it have no VST support, but all the things that comes with reason you can control with a MIDI keyboard.

Next time you ask something, try to be a little more specific kthx.
