Hey there, you remember that you couldn't quite recall whether or not you posted in this thread. Well I guess since I am doing your one now that you must have posted. Indeed I remember quoting you on it... So apologies for the delay, but consider it kinda worth it :) If I was at work for this, the client would've been billed a not inconsiderable amount! (Not that I see much of the billing... but that's another gripe and story for some other time).

We know each other through a few threads that are on the BBS as well as the fact that we joined the BBS/NG at around the same time (give or a take a few months), You've possibly seen me through this thread, modship and others and I've seen you around the place, although not on the end of my bans as far as I can remember. Does this mean that you're getting started on the right foot? I hope so, I don't want to be writing a negative review today as it's a lovely sunny day and I'm in a good mood :) But needs must... If your posts disappoint... (I am trying to be scary... See Jade's pic of me doing these pscyeanalysis things in the linked sig topic I've got...).

Anyway, enough pre-babble. As usual, sig, profile and then posts and background information...
Getting started then with your sig, it's a little more decorated than most people's on the BBS. You've managed to get the formatting right to get five links there and a nice sig-pic that rotates, (why is it not clickable though?). So your first link is about computer games, then a rather funny picture thread... Something silly about Wade, interrupted with Zen444 getting accused of being a Nazi, finally the link to Paltalk. Meh, I detest Paltalk and the people that spawn *from* it, but at least you went *too* it.
According to your profile you're from the States and are 19, you've obviously not been bothered with XP stats, or other Newgrounds stuff, but I question why you bothered to get to 1210 before stopping... Maybe you get bored easily... Also what do you mean, 'This is the message. That is all.', don't you mean 'This is a message', if you were telling us 'the message', it should be with a capital letter. I am only being unusually picky because you have pulled me up on my grasp of English once!
Anyway, you've made some flash and have an okay score on those. One of them is... Paltalk... but I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and read all your posts! One reason I don't like Paltalk though just for your information is all the little inside jokes that people take to the BBS and apparently think are funnier than things here, or more important... Heh.

So your profile and sig aren't that strong really. You're not a stats person and you're not linking to anything that you've really created... You had a part to play in the 'Best Pic thread'... But I guess you're not too concerned with being noticed that much. I mean compare yourself to me... Poor Sarai links only to her own topics... Am I arrogant? Hah, don't answer that... Anyway, summing up, a rather bland profile etc... We'll come back to it later.

As with any of these, the posts people make tend to give us the greatest idea of who they are. Sometimes I am able to know people from outside via chatting on AIM/MSN, but I don't think I've really done that with you too any great extent at all... So, I'm going to have to rely on your posts. As at the date I wrote this analysis you had 100 pages of posts exactly. You started back on 15/09/05 with questions about Flash. I guess if you are 19 now you were about 17 then. Raised on a diet I guess of Internet movies, computers and so forth you had some rather 'hax0r' language including using the word 'Joo' in your first post. Also, didn't you know that saying 'Don't flame me' is *always* *on* *any* website a sure fire way to get roasted?
When you joined you demonstrated some beautiful drawings as examples of your work (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v386/Lifef orce/MilitaryCsmall4.jpg), besides from asking you to enter my Art Contest (please!), I think they showed a level of maturity to them that was actually quite quickly picked up in your posts. For example literally only ten posts after you joined, (post 2977) your spelling, sentence structure and so forth was so different. Did you 'fit' yourself into Newgrounds by stepping up a gear, or what? I mean you vary yourself at different points going forward, often calling yourself; 'i m teh uber nub'. It's an interesting way of keeping some conflict out of threads where you were just asking questions.

On another track away from Flash and drawings however you were a rather typical young male... When you joined you talked about Anime you liked and there's a post where you say that you're getting up early to go buy 'DOA4', you're a Kasumi fan right! Personally, if I was *forced* to have one, I would like Ayane, she's deadly... like me :p
I am really only putting this here because it's important to see people who are 'rounded' on Newgrounds. Not that many people are if you actually look. They focus on the 'Newgrounds trip', being someone they are not, doing things they wouldn't do in real life... So when I read you posting about your real life quite early on in your post history (and there are more examples than the little one above) I don't feel the need to add too much 'salt' to what you say on Newgrounds like I do with other people.
In addition when I see you helping people, I believe it's proper and not forced (post 2901 for example). Yes, I often seen people helping each other on Newgrounds in these reviews, but more often than not there's a trace of sarcasm, bigotry or whatnot that filters into things. I'm not saying I won't find that in you later (I'm only on page 95 or something), but right now your posts are somewhat refreshing.

Yeah and in a way... I knew it was coming, I skipped forward to page 90 and we're more into the 'flow' of Newgrounds, your first few spam posts... Getting into general and I think your Flash projects involving those amazing drawings slipping away from your radar. Still, we found out that you dislike "Super skinny, super fat, and ugly face women" and that you were when 17 or 18 6 foot tall exactly.
Skipping ahead a bit, you engaged in doing pictures for people for a time and also contributed into topics from Wade about spam or what-not. Although I didn't read every post I didn't see us interacting.

I'll give you a little idea of what I think after reading about 35 pages now in total...

You don't seem a totally typical 'American' guy, you're a little too polite sometimes! Hah, but being serious there's something about you that's a little more refined than the typical BBS poster. Perhaps you've got lots of siblings that keep you in check, perhaps you've got strict parents, or maybe you're even part-Chinese or English ;-) But whatever of those reasons it is, there's a maturity in your posts. On the other hand you're somewhat distractible. Besides from your Flash movies when you got involved in the topic 'It ends here' with Wade your points swung about a fair few bits. It was like you were a sailing ship looking for a prevailing wind. I guess I feel that you don't always have the direction you want sorted. You aim for some things you *like* doing, but you don't complete if they're *hard* to do it. It's a typical thing to say, but in your case I feel it's also more interesting... Because you don't tend to 'whore' yourself out on the BBS, or the things you do while not delivering. For example, many people promise a lot, or think they're 'all that', your profile, your initial posts and so forth don't make me think that. What I think is that you're a touch lazy, but at least not conceited or anything.

Part 2 of 2

Around page fifty of your post history you were a bit more 'spammy', you also revealed why you don't deposit anymore (post 1473), 'you don't care'. Some people I believe when they say they don't care, but I think you got a bit lazy honestly... That level 10 barrier was high and you justified it as being a 'stat', fine... If you didn't give up on/postpone other things as discussed before... Something you don't quite give up on is getting involved in 'I will draw you' or similar threads, you do them, then fade away. Meh, it's a pity, you should get committed to doing something... This thread for example doesn't actually 'take anything' away from me, I do it when I want, but don't forget it. Where are your art threads with requests and so forth. Fine, you may not be an attention whore (good thing), but then you don't have to be to have one thread where you do something you're good at.
On this note actually, I was interested in the fact you only submitted exceptional quality parts of your flash in your first few pages of posts (eg the walking machine), after that it dried up a bit... You seem to have a problem in doing something and demonstrating it to people before it is 'perfect', preceding many of your posts (even in the 'draw you') threads, you warned them you didn't spend enough time, didn't get something right etc... You as a person don't liked to be judged against something unfinished or rough. This is hard for you, because you don't actually tend to finish that many things... It's a little paradox if you like... Example being the 'Rush to Pico Day' flash, great work... preceded by a... "I didn't have enough time to do it...." comment... heh.

I hope you're enjoying this so far, it's turned out to be one of my longer ones. I've read a fair bit of all 100 pages of your posts... Noting that your maths skill (Chevy pay) is uhh, a touch lacking, while at the same time seeing your art skills are great. Obviously the maths one is a little bit of a random thing and not representative but what I was driving at is that you allow yourself to be a mixed bag... Follow me to the conclusion to see what I mean...

Okay, from what I've read and commented on above you've seen what I kinda think. Like a few people you're not 100% able to finish what you start, you get distracted by your games and other things in life that a typical 19 year old likes. You do however talk about real life things, girls, work and that so it seems reasonable to think that you're pretty well adjusted, (a good thing!). I already said though that you have two characteristics that when combined hold you back a bit... You're somewhat of a perfectionist, or if that isn't quite the right word then you're a bit 'shy'... In combination with that you're also a tad lazy, meaning that projects and ideas don't get to see the light of day. If I was taking a little leap of faith I'd wonder why you're working / wanting to work at Chevy 'pushing buttons' when your talents obviously lie in being creative and so forth. Yeah the money from what you said sounded okay... But that's still only like 22k in the UK... When I started work here, I earned 28k and am now far higher... I do a creative thing, something you should do I think. Perhaps though 'pressing buttons' and whatnot is easy for you, your brain is away somewhere else planning a flash while you do your repetitive task. I'd have no problem with that, but I guess you get tired (and if you don't have this job, this comment still stands to whatever you're doing at the moment) and because you get tired, you don't complete.
I question therefore how you will juggle a job, a girlfriend and perhaps most importantly, what you're good at, when they all pile on together... Yeah, you're young... I should give you a bit more time.

In real life, which you do talk about here, you seem like a nice guy. You helped out on NG and I imagine that you are often asked to help people at College / Work or whatnot with things that are difficult to them. Most of the time you're happy to do this, but it does distract you, waste your time and so on.... Right? Academically, yeah, you seem quite bright, but I wonder how much you apply to the exams if what you get when you leave is 'pressing buttons'. For a guy who demonstrates pretty intelligent things on this forum have you applied yourself enough to get where you want to be? Everything is a stepping stone, including getting money for a dream... I hope that you've got what you want, but I wouldn't be surprised if it takes you longer than it should to get it.
Friends? Yeah, you have good online friends. It's easy to invest and 'multi-task' with friends online (multiple AIM/MSN windows and stuff), but you can't do that so well offline and offline, 'cock jokes' and rhymes involving 'vagina' are probably not so 'cool' anymore for 19/20 year olds, also it's hard to grand-stand with a group of people like you can do in Paltalk. I suggest therefore that you don't have a huge range of friends outside and although you're very nice and mature when you need to be, the people online have actually taken a bit too much of the place in your life than they should do. I went through something similar... Anyway, you might disagree, but I think you should look around and see which people will stick with you, which won't. Your 'NG meet up' is a good idea I guess, but you probably invest a lot of time above its worth in it... Think about it a little, for the effort of the meet up when it happens, you could probably have accomplished a lot more with your real-life friends? Meh... Maybe you disagree, but don't put all your eggs in one basket, pressing buttons all day... NG can't make that less painful to any great extent and as you get older, the emoticons and false jokes and feelings of people online will become less and less important (or should) compared to a real life girl, real life work colleagues and friends who because of their proximity will, if they're good friends, always be there for you, not just when the PC is on and MSN works...

So what do you think dear? Are you mature, probably a bit quiet? Are you more online recently than you think you should be? Are you a touch lazy but also very talented? Does that gap between what you know you *could* do and what you actually do annoy you? Do you retreat from those decisions that could have real results and let people use you with help requests rather than standing for yourself a bit? I think you're a good guy from what I read... You'd be a good friend in real-life... I hope other people see that and are those good friends to you. Weigh things carefully.

End; comments please?

Lord-Sonx, I spell-checked :p
also SS, please enter my art competition! :)

Rules and background

This is my oldest thread on NG. Like a good wine, it has matured with age from two paragraph reviews of Dobio, to two - four full posts for people who get one. Since inception over 80 people have been reviewed, for a total word count of over 110,000.

This thread is Still active, as demonstrated below by the review of Jonthomson. Therefore to prevent it getting filled with spam which mods don't like, I require the following to be done and noted if you wish to be reviewed;

i) You *must* have over 2,000 posts.
ii) You *must* have joined NG during 2005 or earlier.
iii) You must only *request once* in this thread. FROM THIS post onwards, due to the nature of the gap since the last post, all previous requests are considered completed / ignored. Therefore if you have posted before and not been done, you may now re-request.
iv) Do not bump the thread if I have not done yours. *PM me to ask where it is*
v) If you're reviewed, feel free to PM me with additional information, links or what-not you wish to have considered. I also very much like it when people bother to reply to tell me how I did. I am shallow like that and need to know when I get things wrong, or right and how to improve.

Well I hope everything started on the right foot. I'd like to think I'm doing well here, but I guess I'll see later on :D

I understand why some people dislike it, but I don't mind. Let people have their opinions. I like going there, and I like a lot of the people that come on. We've had a few people come in and insult people they've never known besides things they've heard on the internet, but it's not that bad. We do tend to have quite a few "inside jokes", but we usually introduce new comers that act mature to how they became jokes and what not. Anyone who wants into the loop can enter, in other words.

True, for the most part. I am actually really good at finding things to keep out of boredom (I like to voice act/ impersonate, so I like to entertain that way, as an example) I can be deemed "lazy" at times. I can be active, but as of late, I would have to say I have been on the lazy side as of late. (I also regret correcting you in English T_T lol :D)

Heh.

Actually, for the Paltalk flash, the only thing I did to participate in that was to draw that quick picture. I was added by a friend (which actually lowered my batting average, hahaha) I already said stuff about Paltalk earlier ^_^

I don't yearn for attention. There are quite a few people here who post random threads in order to be noticed (they know who they are). I'm not into that. I've done it a couple times, and I've kept a few of them alive, but I'm not one to continuously bump a thread to toot my own horn. (Not saying you're tooting your own horn with this thread. This is actually a great thread, and you do spend time on your "clients" and give out good responses. I'm happy you've kept this thread alive ^_^

As with any of these, the posts people make tend to give us the greatest idea of who they are. Sometimes I am able to know people from outside via chatting on AIM/MSN, but I don't think I've really done that with you too any great extent at all... So, I'm going to have to rely on your posts. Also, didn't you know that saying 'Don't flame me' is *always* *on* *any* website a sure fire way to get roasted?

If you ever want, you can contact me via AIM or MSN. I usually don't ask to speak with someone through IM, especially if I don't know them very well. I would find it wierd to have someone I don't know at all PM me asking if I wanted to chat with them, so I assume it's that way with others as well.

And, quite surprising, I wasn't really flamed as much, even with the whole "reverse psychological jargon" that happens when I ask not to be flamed, hahaha.

I changed my grammatical structure based on the posts of others. Not so much an "impersonation" (actually, quite the opposite. I actually thought about what I was typing), but more of an adaptation. I studied the site, and lurked for quite sometime. I didn't post as much then as I do now, mostly because I saw how others posted, which was basically a form of internet jargon, 1337 speak, and emoticons. I acted similar to get the responses I wanted. In other words, I used a form of adaptation in order to get what I wanted (which, at the time, were opinions) I had seen people act completely serious and get burned for asking for serious help, while not receiving any at all. So by acting or "pretending" to be like some of them, I'd get what I wanted.

After I got what I wanted, I posted however the hell I wanted ^_^

On another track away from Flash and drawings however you were a rather typical young male... When you joined you talked about Anime you liked and there's a post where you say that you're getting up early to go buy 'DOA4', you're a Kasumi fan right! Personally, if I was *forced* to have one, I would like Ayane, she's deadly... like me :p

Actually, I knew of quite a lot of guys that played just for the "girls" in that game, if you get my drift. Actually, my two best characters were Ryu Hyubusa and Jan Lee, hahaha.

I tend to act differently on the BBS then in real life, but I do show the truth. I am rather shy in real life, but my thoughts are the same. Sometimes I purposely "joke" around just to be funny, but I usually take the time to be more truthful (though sometimes sarcastically, lol)

Ahh, it's refreshing to hear that so far my posts are alright ^_^

Yeah and in a way... I knew it was coming, I skipped forward to page 90 and we're more into the 'flow' of Newgrounds, your first few spam posts... Getting into general and I think your Flash projects involving those amazing drawings slipping away from your radar. Still, we found out that you dislike "Super skinny, super fat, and ugly face women" and that you were when 17 or 18 6 foot tall exactly.

Ha ha, saying "ugly face women" seems a bit harsh, but that IS what I said. I'm more into getting to know a girl then just looks or "lust." Lust doesn't lead to a happy life. I did get into the whole "newgrounds" thing, but for me, acting goofy was just a form of venting.

Skipping ahead a bit, you engaged in doing pictures for people for a time and also contributed into topics from Wade about spam or what-not. Although I didn't read every post I didn't see us interacting.

I did engage in some very small newgrounds art projects, but most of the time it was to pass time and just to get a quick laugh.

I do have strict parents, (not military strict, but more strict then others) and I do have siblings, but I keep them in check as well (I have two brothers. I am the middle child).

It's not that it was "hard" to finish some of the projects, a lot of it dealt with things happening here. My flash, for instance. A story I want to create into a flash has actually been in my head for several years, slowly being redefined with new ideas and concepts. The first few motion clips I made of my characters were all down with a mouse. I vowed to get a Wacom tablet before I continued to do any other form of art work via the computer. I later saved for a Wacom Intuos 3 6x8 tablet. After practicing with that, tragedy struck, as my laptop (which I had paid $1600+ in order to be able to do ANY of the things I have done) got a virus while being used in college. I'm not sure if someone had connected onto my network, but it slowly degraded my laptop, until I finally reformatted it to it's current state. I couldn't even properly view my flash tests because it would lag.

Unfortunately, now I have no design programs (No Adobe Photoshop CS2, no Flash, no anything) literally speaking, the best design program I have on my laptop at this very moment is MS Paint (so I don't know if I'll be entering your contest Sarai) =/

I've actually been trying to commit to something for awhile, but unfortunately, by the time one thing went right, another thing went wrong. If you remember, I tried to make a futuristic story (you PMed me about it a few times). I specifically wrote that because my flash was still on my mind, but I was incapable of working on it (I have cable internet, but for some reason, my download speed is at an average of 60kb/s [I won't even get into the work I've done trying to fix that], so even downloading the programs again is out of the question at them moment)

To be honest, yes I did get lazy with my level. The goal bored me, and I used to actually WATCH every single flash that hit the portal when I voted. A lot of people will simply click a link to a video and vote on it with out watching it, so I realized that most people simply wanted a higher level, so with that plus my combination of laziness, I stopped. (though on occasion, I'll get back to voting)

"I didn't have enough time to do it...." comment... heh.

Exceptional parts of my flash? Make that "only" parts of my flash. Yes, there were a few things I didn't want to share, but for the most part, that's all I had. I hated having to stop, and I still hate trying to find flash again (still in the process of getting it, by the way) Most of my work for the flash was in it's script and story board (by story board, I didn't draw the pictures, but I described them) Not many people here are willing to read large chunks of text, and I really didn't want to give away a lot of my flash, so I kept that stuff on the down low.

Those two flashes I did were both done during college time. I actually had a much different script in mind for that flash, but I changed it completely (everyone dying in the end) because I felt that my college work was more important at the time. Pico day was literally done just before it was to be over. I had exams almost RIGHT afterwards. Thankfully I still did great on my exams. I have quite the busy real life, hahaha.

Yes, the pay is lacking for Chevy, but it never came true. A lot of people have asked why I haven't gotten into design. Here's an answer: I can't afford it with my job and neither can my parents. I've paid for everything I have, and it will continue to be that way. I've paid thousands upon thousands of dollars for my current college, and I'm only taking courses in my "fall back career." I actually thought of getting into design, but any of the colleges I've wanted to go to are very expensive, and I absolutely HATE and am paranoid of getting in debt. I've seen people struggle to get out. The best way to get out of a problem is to stay out of it, in my opinion.

Most of the above is talking of Chevy and my mindset about it, and the rest I've either talked of already or is minor, so I'll talk about the main point. As far as Chevy is concerned, and my mindset, I'd actually be very happy having a simplistic, boring, average paying life. A lot of people say, "well, you're not multitasking or doing anything useful." When in actuality, having a peaceful, calm, yet boring atmosphere is when I think. My thoughts multitask, if you know what I mean. I can think of many things at once, which are mostly ideas and thoughts. When I get nervous, I actually begin to "over think", in which I would have to many thoughts running through my head, distracting me from saying or doing things. My multitasking is in what I think, not what I do, in other words. Unfortunately, I'd love to make my thoughts into things to do or create, but right now, I'll have to try and get my programs back for what I REALLY want to do. I'm also quite patient about things, so when others are trying to get everything done with haste, I can lie back and take the time to enjoy some of the better things in life many people look over and ignore.

I question therefore how you will juggle a job, a girlfriend and perhaps most importantly, what you're good at, when they all pile on together... Yeah, you're young... I should give you a bit more time.

So far, I've juggled a job, college, problems at home, and keeping in touch with friends. I haven't had a girlfriend in a long time, but I've started to search just recently. Guys, call me crazy, but I actually LIKE to talk to girls and find women with similar interests as me. I don't care what you think of that, and you can keep your mouths shut if you disagree.

Most of my time I spend in real life is getting the money for my dreams. Unfortunately, that's a long task, but I'm patient. I'll be honest, I never studied a day in middle school or high school. I just learned what I learned in class, and remembered it. Most of the time, I doodled or drew in my notebooks, hahaha.

Actually, I do have an active real life as well. I go to parties, and I keep in touch with my friends. I never understood people trying to have several friends in real life. I think a few great friends is better then a lot of alright friends. Quality over quantity is what I always say. I have about 10 great friends, and almost all of them I've known since my beginning years in elementary school. Not many people can do that, so I think I do a great job in keeping in touch with friends (even with them in colleges far away, though now they're back home) I had never mentioned this in my posts, so it'd be impossible to realize how much I actually do hang out with my friends. I do post a lot of truth in these forums, but there's a whole lot of truth I just haven't wanted to post or haven't been asked to post.

As far as my online friends, they're just as much friends to me as my real life friends. I have their numbers, I talk to them sometimes, and I play games with them. Most of the time, I am on paltalk or talking to my online friends when I'm done hanging out with my real life friends, or if I'm tired FROM hanging out with my friends in the real life (perhaps staying the night with a few of them or going to a party). Again, this couldn't really be noted well because I really never explained. That's why I'm writing a response ^_^

I've been told by many that I matured faster then most, though I'm capable of acting childish on purpose (I love to impersonate and act out people, which to most is a hobby a child would partake in) I am very shy in the real life, but once I know someone, I am quite outgoing. If I'm with friends, I'm more outgoing as well (more willing to meet new people, in other words).

I don't believe I'm on the internet too much. I know some people who are on almost all the time, but I still have a great real life. There's just too much to talk about in my real life.

Yes, I get VERY annoyed having things blocking my progress. Sometimes it's laziness, but for the most part, it's the LACK OF ANY FORM OF DESIGN PROGRAM, AND IT MAKES ME WANT TO CRY. I actually had such a need to draw with my wacom tablet, I would actually use MSN's drawing message feature to draw pictures to them in regards to the current topic, hahaha.

I stand for myself quite a lot actually. I stand in what I believe, but I let others believe in what they want. A lot of the times, that is confused with "following" others. A lot of people get into fads and don't use any of their own ideas, whereas I have my ideas, use them, but I don't try to make others follow me. So I'm the middle man, I guess you can say.

Right now, I'm keeping my life in balance, but keeping it in balance has its sacrifices. I can't lock myself indoors and devote myself to my flash ideas and stories, for it would take away form my college time, friends, and my life. Right now, I like to believe everything is in check, and I constantly DO check to make sure everything is balanced. Unfortunately, to a lot of people, my balance make some people think I don't do much, when in all actuality I could be doing something on the other end of my life.

End; comments please?
