im pretty much starting in the electronic techno creation.....i truly dig this type of music just because its a hundred percent YOU!! no worrying about an artist writing lyrics, or having the artist say they do not like your mix...and also if the artist doesnt pay for the beat...they get the impression that the beat is theirs, its a crazy world as a recording engineer/ but as for techno/ electronica i can dig this....

I'd suggest starting with something that seems like it's going to be "epic" Take your time building up the tension and then right before things get hectic, drop your arms and retreat.

My question is, what is the basic equipment you need to start recording music?

~Computer
~Recording Program
~Instrument (Piano)
~What else?

Oh, I just got another question.

I'm using a MacBook ($1299, white); can I run recording programs on it, and if so, what program is the best/ preferred?

you can make pretty much anything with fruity loops, you'd just need some samples or vst's which are easy to come by.

looperman for samples

kvraudio for VST's

to just record your instrument you'd need a computer (obviously) a recording program (audacity, goldwave, etc), a good mic, and an instrument obviously.

i use logic 7 (although 8 is the newest, i just dont like 8 for whatever reason. im sure i will upgrade one day) and i do love it. i still think most music programs are largly increadably similar, it all comes down to either personal taste or, in professional studios, standardization. FL is something different, but that is because it evolved out of trackers and works a little differently, and reason is somewhere inbetween "professional" programs like cubase and logic and FL. well not quite but thats not really the point. most audio and midi sequencers work in the same way just you have to click in diffrent ways to do the same thing.

most big studios use protools, which tehcnically the program is free but you need the hardware to run it (cheepest being the mbox mini at £200 (i cant be doing with finding an american shop for the price there, but £200 is about $390) and then up to the £10k,£20k,£30k up protools HD systems) and the hardware is increadably good so why not use the software that its made for.

i use an intel mac with logic, a large number of plugins, some very nice westfeild monitors (speakers) and a number of peices of hardware i only use once in a while or for live just because ive collected it over the years and im too lazy to properly set it up. i wish i would becouse i love using hardware, imagin using reason but in real life, its just so fun touching things, but i dont.

logic is great for midi work, programming beats and tunes down to a detail that is just unnessisary and the envoroment is good when you need it, although i dont usually need it. its a part of the program where you can break everything apart and plug things in again, a little like plugging things in in reason but i wont go into that as it is very complicated and i dont fully understand it (dispite using logic since i was about 13) but overall if you understand reason then you can understand logic quick enough, sometimes it is even simpler.

In your 2.01 section you have a lot but your missing a few great ones that are very popular: such as Happy Hardcore, Trip-hop, and House. they are one of the greatest. If you want I could write out a description for you if you dont feel like doing it

One question, if you're a new user to the audio portal, how long does it take for people to approve it?

Fair enough, but it was more like an added opinion rather than added information.

{Question} If my audio is using something out of my production program is it still considered mine?
{Question Reason} I have submitted one with said situation...

No, derp. Everything you didn't make yourself is not yours. However, if you're using royalty free samples there's no problem in using them.

{Question Reason} I have submitted one with said situation...

If the samples are under copyright, you're breaking the rules.

1) Please be nice 'derp' is rather negative
2) A question should never be answered with words such as derp, generally, or usually, be specific
3) They are royalty free

Thank you.

P.S. Sorry if my pointing out the word derp, had offended me.
