damn i am blind.
ok i see the Reason was posted.
anyone here use it?
and if so do u have 3.0 im still using 2.5
I use 3.0....I saved up for about 6 months and bought it the week it came out. One hell of a program. I use Fl sometimes too and I've experimented with rewire....but its a hassle to run sometimes. I've never used 2.5 except for the demo which was very limiting but i was immediately hooked.
i havent messed around with the rewire iv had bad experiences with it while using Reason 1. whatever. i got Rebirth and it messed it up to were Reason wouldnt open back up cuz the rewire was messed with so i would have to reinstal Reason. so i just dont touch it.
O and one thing that i think would make Reason better is if the samplers had a wave editor within them to make them a more powerful sampler(like most hardware samplers ie:SP808 MPCs). i dont mind having Sound Forge open to edit may samples and then load them up into one of the samplers in Reason, but it would just be nice to have it all in one. and maybe Recycle with in the DR. Rex. :)
i can dream
Hey thanks man I've been lookin for programs like Kristal and Buzz.
forgot Traktor in the list ... its from Proppelerheads a.k.a. Reason and ReBirth.
Cubase is also a great proggy.

Rockstar Games Beaterator
Free flash-based beat mixer with several loops, SFX, and a SFX creator.
GoldWave you can get the demo not sure if it has been stated previously.
I think its greate program if dont have money to spend and need good recording program for self use demo is good. Has lots of features and you can save what youve done.
Not sure if care just there if you do, haha...ya
So which of the programs would be good with just a mouse and keyboard...or would that be all of 'em? I don't wanna buy one and not be able to do intricate things cause I don't have an electronic keyboard or something.

Fruity Loops allows you to use your PCs keyboard as a piano, but it is very limited. It's totally worth forking over about $30 for a BASIC MIDI Keyboard. I payed $250 for mine but it has all these features I'm probably never going to use (or don't know how to use). hehe.
which one is the best free one : |

Is Reason 3.0 just as useful witout a keyboard? I'm currently lending mine out right now, so I'm trial-and-erroring the program out for the first time. It looks GREAT but as far as composing the music, can it only be done with a keyboard?
Or do I just need to spend a little more time tinkering around with it?

First off, you can do everything with or without a keyboard...But without one you will have to click in the notes on a grid, like writing tablature. You are greatly reducing your creativity because you cannot record yourself playing live on the keyboard. It is very time consuming.
Mixing and live performances:
Mixman Studio 2
think the site is www.mixman.com , not sure
it's an ok program, the live effects are awesome though. Has some great .wav tracks in it too that work great with FL and Acid
and I didn't see ACID Pro up there, $400 prog, but worth every damn penny! Good for composing and hella good for mixing and editing.
Hope this helps :)
Hehe, I think I should change my abbility to make music... I started out with musiccreation for a year ago, but almost all this time, I have been using FL for sampling and eJay for the completion of the track... Maybe I should go to only FL, eh?

Unless you're making very specific styles, which use repetition and grouping to make the music. For example, glitch and hardcore don't require much composition input in this way, and require more cutting/pasting and arranging.

Precisely, and more often than not, a really fucked up mind :P
Hey has renoise been mentioned here? Its an awesome high quality tracking program with vst support. if you're into tracking at all it may be something to check out, personally im a reason 2.5 and mpc2000 with hardware synths kinda guy....fruity loops blech
*note to self read whole thread first....
This program is used to make midi's but i am sure you can convert them. The instruments sound good and there are a good amount of them. This is actually composing music (putting black and white notes etc. just like on music sheets) compared to putting sounds on bars and gaging their lenghts. It's hard to do but someone who's good with music might like this.
I use FL Studio 5 by the way. Ehhh, who cares :D
all these things are handy... but audacity is the one that im trying to use, and it saves it as .aup so it is useless in flash, is there a converter that can fix this?
I'm new to this whole making beats and instrumental type thing on the comp
any programs you guys recommend for beginners?
Thanks

I own Reason, and it is very good for that type of thing, the strings and woodwinds samples are perfect (missing a bit of percussion though). These samples are in the Orkester Soundbank, which came with my copy of Reason (along with Reason Factory Soundbank) I'm sure my copy was cheaper than $500 though. Just whack a couple of NX-40's (can't quite remember name) on the rack, hook a few violins into them and you got a fairly decent sounding orchestra at your disposal.
