I accidentally somehow made it so whenever I open a new FL 5 file, it opens a crappy song I made awhile ago. I've looked all over for default settings and such but I can't figure out how to open a completely new document.

Any help?

Ok there are totally a huge number of repeating questions here. Let's sum up the Q & A

1) Regarding the note locking to the grid, FL Studio 5 and beyond are set so that you can choose how to align the notes. The easiest way to correct this is:
- Open FL Studio
- Go to any track and open up the piano roll
- The very last icon at the top that looks like a grid is the menu to choose how the notes will lock. Step is locking to the lines. 1/2 step is locking to every 1/2 line. Etc. Etc.

2) VSTi plugins are the basis of the sequencing. They provide us with more tweakable settings. Now, I don't know why people are installing the VSTis in weird places. I usually default them to C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins. If you install a VSTi, it won't show up in FL until you do the following:
- Go to Channels-->Add one--->More...
- Click Refresh--> Fast Scan
- Your new plugin should be red on the list. Check it off and it'll show up in the Channels.

3) SF2 are a soundfont format. Basically, they are variations of the files your computer uses for the sounds when playing back midis. With the huge selection on the internet and their small file size they are an excellent addition to your song. However, installation can be a little awkward.
- Copy the .sf2 into:
c:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 6\Data\Patches\Sounfonts (For FL Studio 6)
c:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 5\Plugins\Fruity\Generators\Fruity Soundfont Player\Data (For FL Studio 5)
- Add the soundfont channel in FL
- In the plugin tab of the channel, click the folder and open the soundfont

One thing to mention. Unless you pirate or purchase VSTis, most of the free ones out there aren't that good. Soundfonts are readily available and will give you a better sound then most of the free VSTis.

How do I give a note a gradual volume change? I can right-click on the note in the piano roll to change the volume, but I want it to gradually decrease from beginning to end. I only want this done to one note, not the rest. How do I do this?

If you go to FL6 and open up the tutorial Gate Effect, it makes a pretty cool beat. I was just wondering how to do that. There is a notebook on channel 8 i think, but that just doesn't help me out on it. Any help would be the shit!

1. Open up the pattern box
2. Click on an empty pattern
3. Click the recored button
4. Move up or down on the speed dial when recording.

Hope this helps

I just got the demo for Fruity Loops and I had a few questions.

1. How many of you make your Audio with Fruity Loops?

2. All I can do is make a 2 second loop. I tried reading through the help for how to make it longer and the tutorials on they're site are only for people who bought the full version. I need help or a tutorial or something.

3. Is Fruity Loops worth buying?

if you use it a lot then yes. Are using a piano roll? instead of the pattern box?

Response to Ask your FruityLoops questions here 2006-08-23 11:49:26

is there any way to time mixer effects? so it gradually fades or rises...?

I sort of understand what the piano roll is, but i'm not sure where it is and how to use it.

Ok first to understand my question you have to know about The Movies . I want to know if it would be allowed to use the music from the Audio Portal in The Movies game to be posted onto the movies officail wedbsite The Movies Online with crediting the user who made created the music. Newgrounds says its royalty free but The Movies Online says you must have complete permission from the person who made it.

So anyone know an awnser?
