Hi everyone!
I'm a new user here on Newgrounds and was hoping some of y'all would be up for listening to my first music post, called Toady Town! It is an original composition written in imitation of tracks from the old SNES-era Square RPG classics--namely FF6 and Chrono Trigger--both in terms of the musical style (simple melody, simple chord progression, sparse arrangement, etc.) and the arrangement (LoFi looping samples, <8 voices/ channels, orchestral instruments, etc. etc.).
Although I used a licensed soundfont for inspiration while composing the song (William Kage's Final Fantasy VI font), all sounds in this final version were made by me, using free and purchased samples from the Roland Sound Canvas VA and the Proteus VX VSTi. Hopefully they've ended up sounding fairly similar to the originals :P Anyway, please give it a listen, and I hope you enjoy it!
