Yay, finally a line of defense against 13 years old kiddies that writes nonsense and insults in reviews with caps lock on and think they're cool by doing it. If you don't know what I mean, check some of the reviews that give movies in the top 50 get. You know, the ones when you click rating and check the bottom of the list. Though some of the reviews are decent even if they give a 0 to good movies. The others are written by n00bs, some losers that claim to be neo-nazis, or 80 year old guys, etc. they're really annoying

i have a query what happens if we want to save a movie because we like it or find it fun to play there for we vote 5 and its actual score is on 2.3 or something does this meen we can get banned just because we like it more than other people?
also if we find a movie mildly amusing or good can we still vote 5 if it is in the portal in the attemt to save it?

score=4 is it ok to vote 1 and have a gap of 3 to the acctual score or has it got to be closer than that

Thats the reason there needs to be a time set before you can vote. If not you take away the voters free will. They may think that some great flash is no good, its their choose.

Make sure to watch the flash and then judge.
If a submission has an average or a good animation and does deserve to pass BUT you really hated it then vote a 2 or a 3. The fact that you hated should modify your judgement but it's not as important as the quality of the flash. When a flash is underjudgement, vote the quality of the flash. You can always come back the next day and vote a 1 because you hated a submission.
I totally agree with this 100%! If you opt to watch a movie, and judge it, then be fair and watch the whole thing, no matter how 'crappy' you think it is, then, if you still fell like blamming is the right thing to do, then do so, cause at least you can say you watched 'this piece of s**t"..or something. People put time and effort into making their flashes, and to the ones who dont, you watch their movie, and give it the appropriate score. The way i see it, if you plan on getting the point/rewards given to you for your vote, then do the 'work' that goes into it!!

Once again here comes the thought police. I've voted on enough movies in my long time here to know that enough people vote that the majority rules. More often than not I find a movie I think is hilarious, but because the art is bad it gets blammed. Do I go crying like a baby? No, that's the way it goes. And sometimes a movie has great graphics, but guess what -- I don't like it. I remember the last time the thought police came out. An author had made a movie about me personally that was very offensive. I don't care, but from then on I was going to give the guy a zero. And I got the e-mail from Wade saying to stop and all that crap. It's all bullshit, and it's why so many of the people who were original newgrounds users are no longer here. They are tired of it. Look how high I am in experience. I spent forever refusing to come to this site despite tons of people I knew swearing by it. Where are all of them? I'm number 44 -- where are the thousands who were here before me? They stopped coming. I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the majority of movies on here are crap. Try the random movie button -- 6 out of 10 movies you are sent to have scores below 1 that's just disgusting. Start banning the people who submit the same crap over and over again and leave voters alone.

Ok who sets the timer is it the author? If it is then he can submit a 2 second crappy movie and have you wait 12 minutes just to piss people off, and will the timer still be going if you pause the flash? Also how will the timer work for games, you can spend 2 second in a game decide that itr rocks and vote on it. There was this other game where you were Osama and you were trying to collect WMDs for Saddam, but at the eneding it turns out you were Bush and not Osama, the game had unlimited leevls and as soon as you died it showed the ending. Obviously if you didn't see the ending you would think the game was pro-terrorist and vote low on it. If the game was still under judgement how would the timer work on that?

I often blam/save after 30 seconds of a movie because at that point I can usually tell if the author put work into the file. Is doing that okay or is the problem the people who open the window, close, then vote?

People that open, close and vote usually do it instantly so it's much better than these people. If after 30 secs, you can tell what a flash deserves then vote, if not watch longer.
Well, Wade, if you're refering to the people that use an auto vote thing-a-mi-jig, yes, I believe they should not be allowed to keep it up. But in my case, sometimes you dont HAVE to watch the ENTIRE movie just to form an opinion, If i see a movie that has good animation and a few good jokes, i shouldnt have to wait till the end of it just to vote on it, i can say pretty confidently that its a good movie, so I vote 5. If I come across a movie that is 40 kB and is nothing but sticks and stupid stick fighting/violence, no watchable value, why should I have to sit through the long scenes of torture just so I can vote 0 or 1, WHY? Im not saying the cheaters should not be punished, Im all for that, yet I just think you guys at the top are giving too much credit on crappy entries. Movies are blammed, at least in my mind, for a reason. I only vote for a movie before it ends because I know that I would or would not like the rest of it, so I vote. I dont think that I should have to sit through a bad movie just to blam it, or wait till the end of a good movie just to save it, I would like to move on to the next movie. If its good, ill watch the rest, but if it isnt, i move on. How can you tell whether we watch the whole thing anyway? are you timing use from clicking the link till clicking the vote panel? What if we click to watch the movie go somewhere else, then come back when the movie is done and click "play" again and vote quickly? how would you know that we watched the movie or not? I know Im rambling and repeating myself now, I know why you are trying to weed out the cheaters, but yet you are in lieu of that judging some of us (who vote somewhat quickly) rather prematurely.

Well, I'm glad that we aren't on your radar. People are accusing us of mass voting on a daily basis (of course daily :P). Whoever submits the movie usually just submits and does whatever he or she does. There is no need to be. We even vote fairly on our dailytoons. I am not accusing anyone, but it seems unlikly that they, or anyone else can sit through over 100 movies a day and accurate rate the movie to their liking or disliking. Seems unprobable.
I, for one, am slightly ashamed, becuase I know I have "watched" a few movies in the past and not accuratly studied them to see what vote they should get. I won't do it anymore, but with movies that have a Uber crappy start screen, no loading bar, and a bunch of crappy random flashing graphics in the first few seconds, I don't bother to watch the rest. Seems it would be unfair if I or anyone was penialized becuase of that, but it won't continue to much anymore, unless I am sure.
It's you guys are cracking down though, when I submit something to the portal eventually, I want my votes counted fairly. And that's it.

In theory that's a great idea. But, have you noticed how many people on NG can't even make a button correctly. I don't think we can trust anyone to add code in the correct place, assuming it's even possible (people are using differen versions of flash and older one's don't support the type of communication that would allow that). Plus Wade would get emails everytime someone screws up and their submission can't be voted on.
