Need a dev to write a short JS/TS game similar to WarioWare

Hi, i am looking to have a game created in js/typescript.

The idea is to have a game similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72MjC_reUMc

basically a collection of microgames.

The total time of playing the full game should be at least 3 minutes. Happy to discuss in more detail as i dont have anything in mind about what the microgames should be. the requirements are that the games should be played using the keyboard, there should be a timer at the top of the screen at all times showing how much time has elapsed since the game started.

Why?

I'll do it for 500 bucks.

For 1000 I'll teach you how to do it yourself :P

Why do you need this game to be made?

You don't even have any ideas for what you want it to be other than the genre and programming language.

What is the purpose of wanting this to be created? Monetization? Just because you think it would be fun? What is your budget for hiring someone to make this for you?

Yes, i want to ultimately monetise it, but the idea for monetisation is a little bit different than usual and i want to keep it a secret for now :)

I don't have any ideas, you're right, all i know is that i want to have a collection of microgames which are fast, smooth and engaging, a full session of playing these games should be no longer than 5 minutes.

My budget is around $400, could stretch it more if i really like what i see.

Does it have something to do with crypto, blockchain, NFTs, or AI?

nope, just a different monetisation model that i havent seen yet, or at least have found being used yet, it's more like a tournament model.

Lol, no :) how would you even do that with a game?

Well I hope that if anybody takes you up on this, they make sure to get their payment from you first before getting started working.

Lots of smart responses like this one here :)

I have skills to develop it myself, but but i lack in the art department so it always looks crap, i also dont have enough time to work on a game, hence the ask for someone to do it for me.

Is there an unwritten rule somewhere that i have to have a published game to ask for help in here? Why the hostility?

Also, im not asking for free labour, im offering freelance work, I wrote my budget in one of the previous messages, what else am I missing?

I came to newgrounds because the games on here look much more decent than itch.io and i created an account to post on the forum.

Honestly, the amount of hostility on the internet these days, it's ridiculous, itch.io is full of kiddies who just respond with silly jokes, reddit people jump on you just for existing on their subreddit :D

I reall don't get it, if youre interested in more info about what i want to do then ask or send me a message, what's the point in telling me that im a newbie on this site and i dont have 'an idea', i have 'some idea' and i was hoping to find someone here to help me brainstorm and develop it, and im paying, so what exactly is the issue?

If you want to start a video game project to collab you need to show your own work whether it's art, music, a simple flash game you made, and writing to convince people to. That way people can see you're a legit person that's not trying to scam or have other people do most of the work for your "idea" game. You're not the first person with a new account to post these type of topics without any of their own work to show for. Your words of payment isn't enough to convince people.

Im mostly a web/app dev, i make games as a hobby from time to time, but i havent published one since i was in uni :D

here's a demo of a game i made once which was published to the playstore:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB0fWUxiY1Y

although i dont think it's available on any stores anymore, does this add more to my legitimacy? :)

That way people can see you're a legit person that's not trying to scam or have other people do most of the work for your "idea" game. You're not the first person with a new account to post these type of topics without any of their own work to show for. Your words of payment isn't enough to convince people.

No offence but this isn't the art forum. Attacking people on baseless grounds might work there but it doesn't and shouldn't fly here.

And it's especially rich coming from someone who hasn't made any games of their own here so. Throw not stones in a glass house and all. Let he who has made a game cast the first stone. Yadda yadda you get the point.

It's a mobile game from 13 years ago.

On a technical level, it works, it's functional, but visually, and design-wise, it's just a barebones generic Pang clone, which is so far detached from the zany vibes and wacky design philosophies WarioWare offers, or even indie such as Mindwave.

If you're not "wow-ing" anyone, this is why.

To be fair @Metropoloxx didn't ask for an award-winner, they literally said "show one simple game" and OP seemed to have delivered. As far as I'm concerned, OP appears to have contacted someone and seemingly has a budget (though whether it is commensurate is another matter) so if they're going to scam someone that's a long time horizon to be doing that, lol.

I can now kind of understand why people want AI to help code, programmers included.

Yeah. I know I'm outing myself by talking on a multi-decade timeline, but I really don't like alot of the energy the non-games portals have brought in. I get that animation and audio and art are way lower effort than games and thus require much more gatekeeping (hence art scouting etc) but Jesus H.

Do I think this project is going to go anywhere? Probably not, most don't. Will it be underpaid? Almost certainly. But being the coder for these kinds of bad ideas helped me make rent back in the day. If someone goes into this with their eyes open, more power to them.

You do know that a lot of the games posted here can sometimes take just as much time, if not less, than Movies.

For example: Entries for Ludum Dare, or other game jams are very common here. FNF started off as a Ludum Dare entry, and only got bigger later on.

Which is why I didn't use the word time and explicitly used the word effort.

In comparison to the games portal, the art, audio, and even animation portals receive an absolute deluge of submissions daily. I'd estimate at least two or three orders of magnitude. That's the source of this cultural divide. You can attribute that to whatever you want if you don't want to call it effort, but the ratio is an easily verifiable fact.

This site's original secret sauce was that making interactive flash movies was itself enough of a barrier to entry that the site didn't need YouTube levels of human moderation or algorithms and could rely on fairly straight forward voting and still accept user submissions. Devs don't have to be super cliquey gatekeepers because the medium does that for us.

Going back to the beginning: OP, a programmer with some game experience, wants to make a short game, but says he "dont have the time and skills to do it". He has just made a Newgrounds account and is asking other NG members for help.

There's a place: The Collabinator

@lastxtemplar, this is the place for you.

Just specify what you need help with (ie. graphics, music, game design, etc)

Why do you need this game to be made?
You don't even have any ideas for what you want it to be other than the genre and programming language.
What is the purpose of wanting this to be created? Monetization? Just because you think it would be fun? What is your budget for hiring someone to make this for you?

Yes, i want to ultimately monetise it, but the idea for monetisation is a little bit different than usual and i want to keep it a secret for now :)

depending on your country, you can fill a patent for novel business model, but my country doesn't recognize the legitimacy of such patents, so your mileage will vary. also, keep in mind that ideas cannot be protected by neither patents nor copyright, so yeah, be careful.
