I’m as basic as they come, I play normal and if I’m feeling dangerous by the end of the game I hit with hard and try out the game in hard difficulty after ward.

For me I tend to play easy, although with certain games that mock you for it, yeah I go with the easiest where it's not insulting.
Normal for a first play through. Tends to be the difficulty where most games are actually designed and play tested around. Easy I'm usually half asleep and hard usually leads to a lot of unnecessary frustration or being forced to play a game in a way that isn't fun.
Usually Easy or Normal. I just play games for the funsies and have nothing to prove anyways. ( ˘ 、 ˘ )
Usually I go with normal, then when I replay, I play on a more challenging difficulty. Ultra-Violence is the default for me in every Doom game tho.
Any difficulty which description doesn't feel like the game is slightly trying to mock me.

Bro, I wouldn't even buy the game, I'd just watch Markiplier play this on YouTube.
depends on the genre of game, if its an fps then usually im gonna go hard (unless its COD, in which im fine being on regular. idk why) but if its something where im not used to it like total war warhammer 2, i'll stick to the easier difficulties since i have to learn SOOO much. but im a sucker for brutally hard games like hotline miami or like the infernum mod for calamity mod for terraria lol.
sometimes i'll start a game on like a harder difficulty but not the hardest one, like how i started doom eternal on ultra violence back when it came out, but now i play on nightmare and have beaten it on ultra nightmare. same thing goes with risk of rain 2, i used to play on drizzle since i was playing with friends but now i really only play monsoon and eclipse. idk theres just something i really kinda love about bashing your head into a wall for hours on end constantly failing only for you to succeed and feel AMAZING. like holy shit dude i will never forget the prison level from hotline miami 2 cause it made me so frustrated and angry but when i beat it it was euphoric lmfao
oh and i just remembered the first time i beat nightmare king grimm in hollow knight. i had decided to start fighting him again after taking a long break from hollow knight (like 2 years) and that fight is like actually a masterpiece. it took forever to beat him that first time but once i did i got even better and better and now i've done him on radiant, which is specifically fighting him without getting hit once. its awesome
um.... yheah.... check out my art or whatever. who cares
Normal I don’t care for foes having bigger health bar for raised difficulty and most games have that and putting on easy punishes you by removing content. It is the default difficulty I have nothing to prove.
I had my share of difficulty with Batttletoads and Super Ghouls and Ghost. Carrying the goddess braclet to the end level was not fun. Defeated Death Crawler in less than 10 seconds which was surprisingly cool by using bottles fire circle. I only needed 3. Yes I had save states.
depending on the genre, really, but generally i try to start and finish most stuff on Hard

i play with cheats

how is that an insult? some people play games for the story and hate getting road blocked by some cheap gimmick boss.
Easy mode because I just want to either

You don’t get the same feeling of playing the game compared to a YouTuber playing the game. I don’t think the game is trying to mock you because people who pick an easier difficulty just wanna chill and enjoy the story, not running to any bullshit on their way like more HP on enemies, they hit harder. That’s exactly what the description is saying, nothing wrong with it

While I was trying to be a little funny in the way I said this, I do believe choosing those easier difficulties defeat the point tbh, NORMAL difficulty is easy already and if I wanted to relax I wouldn't even play a game that has any challenge to it, I'd rather go play something like Katamari, The Sims, Animal Crossing or some silly multiplayer game with friends like Lethal Company or Left 4 Dead 2
