Running Shine 10 year Anniversary Collab

I’m working with @melotron and Tropics to put together a collab for Running Shine’s 10 year anniversary! We’re looking for artwork and music related to or inspired by the Running Shine youtube reviews, streams, or games covered (or even mentioned!). Anybody who’s a fan of the channel is welcome to join in!

The plan is to put together everyone’s work in a gallery/music player that looks similar to a Running Shine review. Here’s a quick mock up to give you a rough idea. (Details may change)

Rules

• Please follow Newgrounds rules as the final project will be posted here.
• This is going to be a T rated collab! Please make sure your submissions aren’t past that.
• Submissions must be your own work. No AI creations, we'd rather you try your best!
• Each submitter is allowed a maximum of 2 art submissions and 2 music submissions. (You are allowed submit to both categories: 2 art +1 music, 2 art + 2 music etc)
• You can be any scout status on Newgrounds to contribute!
• Artwork or music made before the collab is allowed to be submitted, so long as they follow the rules.
• Remixes or covers of original tracks used in Running Shine videos by @melotron and @POSTELVIS can be used. You can find Vol 1 here and Vol 2 here.
• No remixes of game music, however inspired tracks are allowed. The following RS OST tracks are remixes and can’t be used for submissions: “Star Fox 64 Jazz Melody” “Starlight Zone” “Kirby 64 Crystal Shards Melody” ”Green Hill Remix “Station Square Remix” “Zero Units Remaining OC ReMix” “Steppin Remix/Step Remix” “Aquatic Mine” “Kakariko Slide” “Temple Forest Remix” “Inside a Whale Remix” “Epona’s Song” “Tomato Shop” “Polonte Remix”

Note: the joke track titled "Separation of Church and Skate by Fat Mike” on the OST is original however and can be used. It’s made by Melo (incase you didn’t notice)

Artwork Specifications:

Min: 1000 x 700 px 

Max: 1000x 1600 px 

PNG

Images smaller than our Maximum size will have black bars around them, like in an RS video. We encourage you to use any size in between!

Any artstyle is welcome!

Music Specifications:

Minimum bit rate: 192kB/s

Maximum bit rate: 320kB/s

Length: 50 second (min) 6 minutes (max)

All songs must be 44.1k sample rate

mp3 format

Deadline for submission: Monday June 23rd (1 week before the actual anniversary on July 1st to allow some time for everything to be put together)

How to submit:

Submit your entry in this thread with how you would like to be credited and the title of your entry.

Alternatively, you can submit to [e-mail] with your entry attached and the subject: RS Collab Entry. Include the name you want to be credited as. Please name your attached file as: Entry Name _ Your Name

Are we supposed to be recreating one of his thumbnails in a new style or are we creating a new image based on one of the games he's reviewed? I've never heard of Running Shine before but I'm now currently watching his Tony Hawk's Underground review.

I'm leaving it pretty open ended to let people have as much freedom as possible with what they want to submit. You can do anything from recreate a thumbnail, to make a new image based on a game covered, joke, or referencing anything in the videos or streams. If its Running Shine related/adjacent I'll accept it for this collab.

So, @RK-d, I have a quick question about the collab. I tried sticking to the rules as closely as I could, I made the size of the image to appeal to the px's you specified, and I made it a png image, but when I posted my png images to Newgrounds, they became webp files. Is that going to be an issue? I really don't wanna cause any trouble. Do I have to buy the premium thing for Newgrounds to post pngs or something? I'm not sure, hope you can clear this up for me.

Like I said in my first comment, I've never heard of Running Shine before this collab but I watched his review of Tony Hawk's Underground and I got a few good laughs. Any fan of the Tony Hawk games is alright by me.

I emailed my entry as well since posting it here really compresses the image.

I hate to go back on what I said before, but after noticing compression on images posted in the thread, I ask you send them through email to keep them as sharp and clean as possible. Here are the instructions for that:

Sorry to everyone for this update, but due to compression when images are uploaded to the thread, please opt for the email submission. If you have to submit via the thread we will accept it, but it will be compressed and we want to show off your artwork in the best quality possible!

I actually went and played Door to Phantomile and Lunatea's Veil after watching the review so I'll be drawing Klonoa! Kinda mixing his two designs from those games here as well.

Looks pretty good so far, can't wait for you to finish the coloring etc. I've sadly only been able to watch the first like 20 minutes of Melo's review on Klonoa, cause I've only played the first ps1 game, and the wonderswan one (lol that rhymed).

This is awesome man, excited to see the full thing! Shoutouts to all of you guys submitting things. We're already getting a small collection of them that'll make for a fun gallery, including some music. I have good experience with Godot and its UI nodes, so I should be able to get everything with that working pretty fast after returning from vacation.

Here's my first audio submission!

I loved the Klonoa 2 review and played through the main two Klonoa games. They were really cool and inspired me to make some Klonoa-like music!

For my second audio submission I plan on remixing that cool E-piano track that isn't on RS Vol. 1 or 2 lol.

Wonderful song! I can definitely imagine playing Klonoa's opening level, while this music is playing.

Also the way the song starts off calm, then builds to a crescendo, then calms down again at the end, is really well done!

Knuckles, an actual black guy, and fi- echidna.

Cool art btw! I like the purple shading on Knuckles' gloves and eyes, it works well with the color of his pupils.

Also don't worry about the spamming thing, it's not spammy at all. I've sent my art in this thread, as well as through email, and I don't think anyone has had issue with that.
