Welcome back to the 2025 NGMC, Newgrounds Musicians' Championship!
Unsure what NGMC is? You can read everything about it in detail here. But the short answer is that NGMC is a 10-week-long team-based audio event centered around the idea of collabing, where teams of two musicians have two weeks to compose a track which follows a given theme for each round, or Grand Prix (GP). The twist is that the teams are not permanent, and you are free to change your team between any and all GPs, and even join in in the middle of the season! Or you may decide to sit one GP out, or even retire completely. Any points you have gained will be kept regardless.
For this season, every GP will share the common theme of racing! Cold-blooded overtakes, foolhardy cornering at the very limit of grip, and incredible recoveries from certain failure. With mere inches separating total disaster and sweet victory, there's no shortage of drama and spectacle to draw inspiration from. Racing is also a theme with a wide array of interpretations: one must not look further than Mario Kart and Need for Speed to hear the variety in soundtracks.
In addition to the above theme, each GP will take place in a unique location. Together with the season theme, the GP location will form the GP theme, which you should try to convey with your teammate in your submission to the best of your abilities.
With the Desert GP wrapped up, the equatorial leg of the championship has come to an end. Now we spread out to all corners of the world, at last arriving on the paved roads of civilization...

Round 4 - Urban Grand Prix
Whether it be the maze of streets and alleys, long straights of interstate freeways, or windong corridors of massive industrial complexes, the urban environment is one of the truest tests of one's prowess behind the wheel: One wrong move and it's the wall - or incoming traffic - for you. Add into the mix abandoned service tunnels and half-finished on-ramps, and the city transforms into a deadly playground for finding your own way through the chaos and past the finish line.
With your teammate, compose a track which would fit an urban racing scene!
You have time until April 27th, 11:59 PM / 23:59 EDT (Newgrounds server time).
As this is a new event format, I anticipate that I have failed to properly explain some aspects which I myself may think are clear, so please feel free to ask any questions you might have here on this thread, in the comments of the rules newspost, or in the #ngmc2025-general channel of the audio portal discord :) I'll be glad to answer any. And if you're wondering about how/where to team-up, we have a #ngmc2025-teamup channel in the discord as well, which might be a good place to start.
Best of luck to everyone! I'll be waiting for ideas on what to keep writing here.
