How would you describe your art style? Do you have a category or movement that fits it to a T? Do you find yourself comparing your style to other artists? Do you dislike it when people try to pin a style on your art? Or when they compare your art to someone else's? Let's discuss it!

Anime, I don't think my art style is unique. I only compare my style if I'm trying to learn something from a specific artist's technique.

I see the anime influence, but I can tell that's you in the eyes. You have a cool eye style going on. I like the thin lines you're using, almost not there. There's also a bit of softness in the art that's nice, mostly from the color, like in Rising, Setting.

I suppose I've settled for a specific pattern in drawing the eyes. Fujimoto (Chainsaw Man) and HutaChan were my inspirations for those. As for the colors, just my personal preference. I usually add a purple tint to the overall image.

That's dead on, that it's very chill and dreamy. You have a really good eye for color.

I'll have to check out your music! Webcore sounds interesting.

My art style is… when it comes to drawing itself, how I perceive and imagine people’s and object’s appearance in such a bizarre way.

I can look at a person to break down facial features into shapes I think it’s interesting. At the moment I finish drawing that shape onto paper or the tablet, it turns out to be anything but pretty. Same with characters I create from ideas, not real people.

Pretty sure mine is “unique”, but also disturbing to many people around me irl. They have said it is. They can be interested but not so much that they want more of it.

But still, the best way for you to understand my words is to actually look at my stuffs. Art style is not a linguistic factor. So feel free to check it out.

I'd say I'm pretty inspired by Nirami, not even on purpose either. If I had to give it a category, it's cartoony with more realistic values.

I definitely have a style that is inspired by a bunch of things but I can't pinpoint what exactly. It for sure is more on the cartoon side than anime side which I like but I do take inspiration for outfits or poses from anime from time to time.

I try to play with the style but the construction of characters stays about the same while lineart and coloring might change drastically. My goal is to have it be around T to M rating but that probably comes more with the context of the drawing rather than the style.

I do enjoy receiving positive reactions. I love it when people recognize why I have something in what I create. But this rarely happens because my art style is a formula I’ve been only developing without organizing.

For around 7 years, I’ve been building my world of imagination that the only person who needs it might be myself. It’s my desire for my artworks to look like what it is and will be that “draws” me to such style.

So is it just for me? I hope not. Artworks are great only when people think they are. Are my artworks great? Everyone except me can decide.

I learned basics like anatomy and perspective in after-school art classes. However, what enabled me to draw in the way I follow now is looking at other artists works to learn and analyze for my style’s development. Both in drawing and writing.

Yeah, I like where you choose to render things more like the hair. It's a good mix.

I can see the anime influence in the clothing and the colors, and I will say I can spot an Aapiart pretty easily! It's a unique style with good flat shading.

I'm not sure how to describe my style, maybe minimalistic? Especially in pixel art which is the vast majority of what I do now, minimalism is enforced there and it's an interesting challenge to fit important details in while retaining overall clarity. I like to compare and contrast with pixelated game art but not in a "mine's better/worse" sort of way, I just like a well-made sprite and it's good for inspiration to see what others are doing.

Either way I love the lineless look, I've thought of practicing a more caricatured Tartakovsky-esque cartoon style but I don't really have the energy to commit to serious studies right now lol.

The aesthetic I cultivate in my various character designs is much easier, everything I do radiates pure goth energy (of various flavours) regardless of how it's drawn. Even the inanimate objects according to some people.

If you're on a journey, that's OK. I see you're good with rendering and going for a lineless look. TheShokBlok piece has some good lighting!

What I attempt to do is mix both western and anime art styles I like, specifically Studio Trigger and Gainax anime with Gumball/Smiling Friends. I probably haven’t done a great job at this yet though, I’m a beginner artist so it’s hard to tell if people are gonna say I have a specific art style

You'll figure out what your style is if you keep at it. I see you want to put some more realism in, and I think that's a good idea. Drawing from life is a great way to develop the underlying principles you need to draw, and while you do this, study other styles to see what you like. Mixing ideas is how you make your own style recipe!

I'd say the two biggest influences behind the style I've tried to cultivate for my art are Don't Starve (and by extension, Tim Burton) and Studio Trigger. I love intense stylization and I've tried to incorporate elements from both of these into my art along with my own personal flair, it's an eccentric little salad mix of east & west ✨

In the past (and now, still), I've also received comments that some of my original character designs look like they belong in Helluva Boss but I don't mind that at all because hey, I like the show so the comparison flatters me o(*゚▽゚*)o

So far from my experimenting I've been more drawn towards a more sharp, harsh and sometimes energetic style. The one thing that's remained somewhat consistent and that has developed is the black and white motif. The depiction of some outsider that appears in the physical plane with it interacting with the lighting and atmosphere differently than the residents. Something still fits and looks good, but you can tell it does not belong in using the black and white motif. Like you can tell by just looking at the character that he does not operate on the same rules of the whatever world he's in.

Nihil/void made manifest.

One cannot truly visualize a true void. There's always some color present in our imagination when thinking, let alone depicting.

Always a background color of sorts.

Whether it being black or white...

Can one even imagine something where there is truly nothing?

No objects, no ground no light and no colors.

Even in the absence of light we see the color black.

But when there's nothing but pure light, we see the color white.

Well enough of my rambling. For me despite starting to develop a style. I am still experimenting.

My main inspiration is Keiichi Arawi, the author of Nichijou :)

I generally read comedy/slice of life mangas so it can be seen in my style too : I've been told that my style was nostalgic, because it looked like "something you'd see on TV in Japan after school hours". Children anime is often comedy/slice of life, like Sergeant Keroro (which I watched as a kid too)

Lately I wanted to make my style less detailed, relying more on design, so my mother often compare my art to "Maruko Chan", a Slice of life manga from the 80's

iu_1383963_23563917.jpg

Which is an anime that she watched as a kid too lol

Im quite happy that people are finding a sense of nostalgia to my drawings :)

It was not originally how I wanted to draw, I wanted my drawings to be dynamic and colorful (like Hiroyuki Imaishi for instance), but ultimately I get influenced by what I read, and I don't watch Studio Trigger or rarely anime, I'm more of a (comedy) manga reader :)

I have other influences, like Tsukumizu and his sketch-like, but very beautiful backgrounds that I really like.

I love doing harsh shadows and aim for a comic-like style. basically, find ways to avoid using the blur tool if I can help it as well as alternatives to using monochrome for the characters (like a dark blue for a black for example)

I watched a buncha Cartoon Network shows back then so that might have influenced my art style, I also watched BFDI and other Object Shows so that might be an influence.

Not working on Nightmare Cops.

Good luck on your journey. I think your path of harsh, sharp lines is playing to your strengths. I think you should push the lighting effects too. I like the glow that some of your pieces have. Increasing the contrast might have some interesting results too.
