☆ ✮ ★ Welcome to the Petpet Collab! ★ ✮ ☆
Some of you may be familiar with the classic website Neopets, a virtual pet browser game that was quite popular back in the day. But for those who aren't, don't worry! It's not necessary for the collab. All you need to know is that in this site there are a bunch of these creatures called "Petpets", all with unique designs ranging from the cutest to the weirdest to the coolest critters!
The goal for this collab is to let artist know about Petpets and let them draw the ones they feel most drawn towards, simple as that! At the end I'll compile every entry and upload it as one big collage to the Art Portal!
THE BASICS
First and foremost: Both Scouted and Unscouted artists can participate! Unscouted artists will be able to draw up to 2 Petpets, and Scouted artists will be able to draw up to 4!
If you wish to participate you only have to check the docs link that is included at the bottom of this post (and also here), in which you'll find a list of all the 500 Petpets to choose from (yes, 500). From there you only need to pick and choose!
If you have your eye on a certain Petpet and want to make sure no one steals it from you, you can use the "HOLD system" (which is pretty much just a way of 'claiming' the ones you want beforehand). However, HOLDing is technically not necessary for anyone to participate, and you can simply send your entry to me directly without any extra previous fanfare if you want to.
RULES
1- Only one entry per Petpet will be accepted.
2- The recommended size for the image is 512x512.
3- The final image MUST be a PNG with transparent background.
4- As long as your entry has no background you can use any medium for your illustration.
5- Neither AI nor NSFW is allowed in any way, at all.
6- Soft horror/grossness is allowed, but do NOT do anything that may get the rating past T
7- The number of entries allowed must be followed, as well as the HOLD system. Any extra drawings will be ignored, regardless of effort.
8- The illustration must clearly contain the Petpet you're drawing, either its base form or a variation of it (more on that bellow).
9- The Deadline for entries is June 5th, 11:59 p.m. PT.
As an extra note, the limit for entries (both for scouted and unscouted artists) *might* get changed closer to deadline, but until then it shall be respected.
THE SPECIFICS
- When submitting your entry you must send it through a DM directly to me, Gelert. However, you can also (in addition) share it on this thread or upload it to the Art Portal using the tag #petpet-collab.
- As mentioned in Rule No.7 you can choose between drawing the base version of the Petpet or a variation of it. By variation I am referring to "Painted" Petpets, which, for those unfamiliar with the term, are Petpets who are part of the same species but have a different aspect. These aspects are mostly basic color-swaps, but there are some that include some substantial changes, like Mutant, Robot, Ghost, etc.. The only aspect that won't be allowed is "Invisible", which...kinda speaks for itself as to why. There's a link at the bottom of the post to a site in which you'll be able to check all of the existing aspects.
- Only one entry per Petpet is allowed, so if you have your eye on a certain Petpet and want to make sure no one draws them before you all you need to do is ask me, either by writing on this thread or via DM, and I'll put it on HOLD for you. To "HOLD" a Petpet is pretty much just to 'claim' it, as you might imagine, but what makes the system special is that HOLDs only last for 4 weeks total. After that, if you haven't completed your drawing up to that point, the HOLD will expire and anyone will be able to claim that Petpet again. Although, you can re-claim it yourself if you're still interested in doing that particular Petpet. This system is mainly to prevent people from claiming species just to not do anything after that and locking people out from drawing them.
- Any other questions regarding the collab are allowed! Just make sure that what you're asking isn't already specified somewhere in here.
