please no "actually all fandoms have a good side" or "what's wrong with (toxic fandom) i have a great time in it" if you would
Stardew Valley
Prob one of the nicest fandoms I've been in
Fuck
The yt-dlp fandom
also the sarms fandom and the "nootrophics" fandom
I don't really engage with fandoms, and prefer to enjoy the work separate from the community. If I have to say one, then I think it's the Earthbound community.
Of course there was this shipping bullshit that went on with the Zelda fandom about Sidon, and placing him with Link or Zelda, and were FURIOUS about him having a wife in the second game, so yeah, there's that.
Most fandoms I'm in have like three people in it and those that don't are nuts *glances at all the tumblr sexy man obsessed fandoms I'm in*
Probably lego batman tho, it's not a big fandom at all (It's pretty dead nowadays), we've got some cute ships to play around with and everybody's pretty chill. But even then idk

Ball in a cup does have a nice fandom tho. Very supportive

Fear fills my very being by this simple statement. I am truly terrified to know what through your sick twisted perspective is viewed as insane. The very thought will keep me up tonight. Lol
Probably fossil fighters. Their discord is fucking AWESOME (and the community too)

I don't really engage with fandom outside of lurking and drawing stuff sometimes, but I don't hear a lot of controversies when it comes to Animal Crossing. There was that whole "space buns" fiasco with New Horizons, but besides that, I haven't seen the fandom lash out that much. Don't show me anything that contradicts this statement. I like the bliss of having only one notable twitter controversy to bring up

You never hear anything from the Tetris community
Project Zomboid.
A stressful survival game (made even more so with how masochstic i am) filled with players willing to help eachother and not give a damn on how you play the game. Had a good experience with multiplayer and talking with the community there.
Haunting Ground has a really chilled out fanbase from what I know. They're like a big happy family
Uhh....
Devilman? Maybe?
The shipping is generally respectful, Akira x Miki and Akira x Ryou are the most popular but there aren't any wars on which one should be the true canon choice. There are a ton of sequels and spin offs but you don't have to necessarily consume everything to keep up to date and there aren't many spoilers in case you do wanna check out the bonus materials.
Never had any problems in the smaller fighting game fandoms like Blazblue and KOF!

Portal, probably?
Honestly had a pretty good time in the TF2 fandom as well. The fandom as a whole was chill (with one glaring exception), somehow the subreddit and the community on Tumblr both felt welcoming and that's not something I see often.

The general technology fandom is probably the most sane fandom (for me) as mostly everyone agrees with eachother and if there is conflict it's friendly healthy debate, otherwise never been in one long enough to say so (usually because I'm the crazy fan twee hee)

The sanest fandom I've been in is, surprisingly enough, the DOOM community. The games have a reputation for being some of the most violent and controversial in gaming, but most of the fans I've met are pretty chill. There's also a ton of talent within the DOOM fandom; have you seen what WAD makers are capable of?

Weirdly enough, Hotline Miami.
You'd expect a game about committing mass shootings against foreigners as a group of ultra nationalists in animal masks to generate a fan base that's a bit more "unhinged", but I've been in the fandom for a long time when it was still popular and they're about as normal and as sane as it gets.
Hell, I've seen media with way less violently insane themes get insane fandoms that are almost unexplainable. But I'm not about to name any out of fear for my life.

For me I’d say none because even the most niche fandoms I’ve been in that are comprised of like ten people have some wackos in there as well

I noticed that the HM fan base generally keeps to themseves, and it probably helps that the games condemn the rather apish and vulgar violence trend towards the Soviets/Russians that was quite common in video games at the time.
Not too dissimilar to Spec Ops: The Line, but HM at least had a level of subtle criticism and not completely be childish ragebait and hypocritical moralizing that SOTL had.
Just stop worrying, and love the bomb.

Personally, i'm a fan of both. but i can easily say that SOTL is essentially just "shooting and crying the video game". i understand the message it's sending, i was definitely left traumatized after it, but at the same time, there are things about it that deserve some level of criticism.
But then again, apparently there were some issues during development that caused the game to not come out as expected like executives insisting on multiplayer mode which then made the writer/producer for it say something along the lines of "if anyone's going to fuck up my game then it's going to be me" and then changed a lot about the game. that, and apparently it was even more difficult to sit through and had to be toned down since play-testers couldn't finish it.
I'll give it props for what it accomplished, but that doesn't mean i'd also have to pretend it's a flawless masterpiece of writing/game development at the same time.
