So I just wanted to know how popular new grounds still is , I still see new content but I don’t really see a lot of reviews. But this is just a weird question because I really want to start posting on this website but I don’t want to post on a dying website (even tho it’s not but I just want to make sure)

You want popular? Try TikTok, YouTube, DeviantArt, whatever. But I'll be here for history, community, its attitude, but most importantly for what it represents: Unrestrained artistic expression through the internet.

The site is not dying at all. I myself recently began to actively engage in this. Here, first of all, they pay attention not to popularity, but to how original and unusual your art is. Unlike YouTube, TikTok and other social networks, Newgrounds does not have an algorithm system, it all depends on the quality of your content. Well, actually, the better you do, the more people will appreciate it.

literally all you have to do is look up something popular that you saw on yt or instagram or whatever the fuck you use that is also here and compare the numbers. no. newgrounds does not pull the numbers that other sites do, yet there are still a lot of people here, WHY COULD THAT BE I WONDER

I would not call Newgrounds a dying website, but compared to the large unwashed masses on most of the big websites, it is smaller. Part of it is since Newgrounds doesn't have an app, there is a large amount of people who are consciously on the site to create, share , or view, vs the huge amount of people on say, Twitter, where they have the app open and are just there because their on their phone scrolling. I honestly prefer the Newgrounds way because even if its less "interactions" I value them more because I know their a real person who went out of their way to be there.

Newgrounds have been on the internet even before social media was a thing. Is one of the only places of the internet were you can post your stuff and let the quality of it speak for itself, where everyday you can see something new by someone that you never heard of, hence the name Newgrounds. I already had two accounts here during my teenager years and this place was detrimental for me to understand internet culture and develop my passion for drawing. It's common to new and younger users come here expecting to this place to operate like Instagram, Twitter, Tiktok and etc, but we don't do that here. So yeah, don't expect doom scroller normies to be here, since is a website and not an app, everyone that is here is here because they want to see and create cool stuff just for the sake of it.

Simple, like every social media site, they're are barriers on this site that prevent exposure to new users and content they generate. Depending on what kind of content you want to post here. Reddit has its karma system to force feed content you're supposed to see, YouTube has its algorithm that insists on regular uploads, which of course alienates animators, so all you're allowed to watch is sssniper wolf react to crap and hear moist critical's bland over valued opinions on stuff no one cares about.

Newgrounds gots it's scouting system, and combine that with the website's filters and no new user gots a chance in hell of getting any exposure here, unless the people running this site want you to be heard or seen. The common denominator is, you consume content the website owner wants you to consume, and they got barriers to make that happen. Newgrounds getting more traffic now, because a handful of select animators are getting exposure they can't get on YouTube.

Even if Newgrounds isn't popular - I think the fact that it's been around since 1995 makes it more on the reliable side.

Reliability > Popular.

If it was dying, I think we would know long before its actual demise.

It's not the insane information superhighway on meth that sites like Xitter and Youtube normalized, but I'd say it's lively enough if you don't judge it by that metric (a metric which you shouldn't judge anything by imo)

I shifted to Newgrounds as my primary (and really only) social media account a few months ago. Really good decision!

Newgrounds really isn't about popularity, your growth isn't determined by an algorithm, but by who you know and how good your art looks. It's been a lot of fun meeting people and getting my art recgonized.
