Some of you are probably thinking why Shadow the Hedgehog is above Unleashed... Not a huge fan of the boost mechanic that the game introduced. I still had some fun with Shadow even if it was bad.
i should probably play some more sonic games, honestly. i used to love the guy, too, where'd my enthusiasm go?!

I've mostly experienced the classic games as of a couple years back, they're neat and I'd love to play mania one day.

Frontiers sucks ass and that alternate ending DLC plays like babby's first Kaizo romhack. Adventure 1 is better than Adventure 2. Vanilla Shadow is great if you only bother to do the neutral route. Sonic Generations was just good. Both console and 3DS. The Shadow half of Sonic x Shadow Gens was kino but I didn't see that one in the tierlist.
3DS Lost World was better than the WiiU version. More actual 3D levels iirc. Or maybe it was the opposite. Who cares.
In lieu of me writing a massive essay on my Sonic '06 opinions, just be sure to dramatically cringe at anyone who still brings up how bad Sonic '06 was.
Please explain your thoughts on Sonic 4 Episode II, since it's so high I'm sincerely curious to what about that games clicks for you.

I like the Dimps Sonic games. What can I say? I think it's just better than people gave it credit. The first one was an absolute mess but episode 2 had better polished physics. I don't wanna get too meta with my take, but it's also unarguably NOT a boost2win game putting it above every 2D section in a 3D Sonic game.
Also that sclumpy-ass Metal Sonic theme is underrated.
It also has the benefit of being better in hindsight than Superstars llololololololololol

Valid! I think Dimps is underrated within the Sonic community, they honestly get more flack than they deserve. I liked Episode II, I think it had some decent zone themes with Sylvania Castle and White Park. Sky Fortress is just a retread of Wing Fortress but I really like this song and I don't like Wing Fortress anyways, so another crack at it is fine with me. And Eggman holding Little Planet captive in this weirdo Death Egg is sick. I'm bummed it never got an Episode III to give the series a proper conclusion, and I understand why we never got an Episode III, but I was curious to what they would have done with it.
Better than Superstars though? That's an interesting take I'll have to test out for myself and replay Episode II as well as Superstars. For me the worst part of Superstars is the slogs that are the boss battles in every level. So if you could get rid of those, would the game feel better? I was waiting for a mod to happen but it turns out the Time Attack mode doesn't include the boss battles, so maybe playing through the game just through that mode would make all the difference. That's what happened with me and Sonic Advance 2 as that opinion changed drastically this year when I was just playing the Time Attack to grind out some rings for the Chao Garden in Sonic Adventure 2. Playing Advance 2 as a normal game always ends up stressing me out because I'm worried about losing all my lives from a cheap potshot and having to start over from Act 1 of whatever Zone I'm trying to clear. But playing those levels in Time Attack where the only concern is trying maximize my Ring count and get a low time? Super satisfying nailing those, especially when I see my time is close to being under a minute.

Cool, wild and Groovy beat.
It's missing Sonic Battle, exclusive to GameBoy Advance. I liked playing that game, it also uses some sprites from the Advanced series.
