You are a person just as much as the others you care about. Would you ever say the horrible things to another friend that you end up always saying to yourself? I think not.
The horrible things you think yourself to be, are things that were projected onto you by others' misinformed interpretations about your character. Those who are the loudest in their outward accusations quite more often than not, have the louder skeletons rattling in their closet. Anyone of us who holds a regretful person to their past is struggling to let go of our own.
People often overcomplicate the concept of Love. They are afraid that someone will use love for nefarious purposes, but that is simply not Love, nor has it ever been. It is merely a wolf in sheep's clothing, Hate disguised as love. Love does not hurt; it can only hope, help, and heal. If your belief you follow calls for hatred towards another human being, you may wanna reconsider if you are in a cult instead of a community.
There was never anything wrong with you when you were at your most right in life; others just made you feel as if you were wrong which caused you to be wrong, and in-turn, made you do wrong. So be right, and do it right this time. Grow and change only for the better, and all of your own freewill.
If you cannot love yourself, love others; the lovely ones will help you understand how to love yourself truly.

I was open, and forced to be closed; this was my own fault though. Now I am so accessible that anything previously capable of phasing me just phases right by me. I did not need to shut myself off from the world, but to fully welcome myself into it. Do not view obstacles, but behold openings.

It's all part of the learning curve.
There is a vast difference between being self-centered, & centering your self.
One of the greatest things one could ever know is that they are indeed a vessel of a vast variety of solutions for a finite amount of problems. And in regards to a problem, when one puts more power into the solution instead of the problem, the problem will in-turn become inferior, and the solution superior.
Just stop, be still, & go with the flow; it will take you where you are meant to go, have fun & swim with it even if you wish.

I have done my best to simplify the whole thing for myself.
To me, the only thing one should ever hate is Hate itself, for Love does no harm, it can only hope, help, and heal.
