It's cool how the voting's finally been revised, but it also feels like saying goodbye to one of the last pages on this website with the old early-mid 2010s style.

I was actually gonna mention it when the calendar was updated that the monthly voting was the last main thing that needed a visual overhaul (at least that I know of). Great work, can't wait to check it out!

On the one hand, it would probably be a major ballache to implement. On the other hand, ActivityPub support would give NG some inroads into the fediverse, which could work out pretty well if Twitter's demise causes it to blow up.

This is something we still need to dive into, to see what all it would involve.
A tricky thing with NG is that if we end up serving files to millions of people on third party apps, it would make the whole situation here even more untenable with hosting fees.

like the change to doing it 7th - 14th. always felt like there are biases towards games posted at the start of the month versus late, so hopefully this change will make it a little more fair. also movie and game voting separated is awesome !!

Currently it's the people in the top group of XP but we'd like to expand it to include more of the artists on the site, so we're working out some plans there.
Thanks so much for overhauling this, I couldn't vote for July because I was so busy and the time window was so short, the inclusion of new categories has me SO excited too!

From what i understand the hosting fees dont get very bad because the other servers start hosting the content when it gets pulled into their service when someone shares it. It also helps that servers usually publicize how much the server costs are and how much theyre getting in monthly donations so the members make sure to always keep a healthy amount in the servers “bank”.
If i ever get enough money i'll become a sponsor :D

Yup, we have one old page that still needs a redirect and some pages related to the defunct rev-share system but other than that, our list is all internal pages, which we'd also like to tackle for the sake of tidying up.
