How much XP is that?

It's based on a fixed amount of the top-ranked people vs an XP threshold, although all that could be subject to adjustments too.

I've always wondered if there will ever be a Newgrounds mobile app, the mobile version of the website is really good and fast but I think a proper app would be really good.

Tom Fulp this is the greatest update. The amount to of times I've wanted to do monthly voting on mobile but didn't bother because of how janky it was is a lot. Thank you. This will make mobile expereince for me who rates a lot of stuff more fun.

Damn Tom, I really love this overhaul! Ngl I was starting to tap out of the monthly votes especially since it seemed a little dated in comparison to the rest of the site by now. But, now that you've introduced this new system and the ability to select favorite art and music, I can definitely see the potential for a re-invigoration.

Man, once I get my money up, Imma sponsor the shit out of this. Just wait until I become a crypto zillionair living on the beaches of Almeria.

PS thanks for the radio changes. I noticed. Because I actually use the radio. So many excellent tracks from like 2007 with 2 votes. This will be most exciting.

Also, arguably, you don't need an app if your site is actually half-decent on mobile (a shocking number of sites aren't)

BREAKING: Tom Fulp Cannot Stop Winning

Another excellent site update - now, after god-knows-how-long, music and art can get their time in the sun.

Hope to see some top-tier artists and musicians get that bag - hopefully, there's plenty of sponsors ready to splash some cash.

There is still more internal clean-up happening as well as lots of bug fixes / quality of life improvements but the next larger change might be upgrading the rich text editor and ultimately overhauling the commenting system for blogs, with some expanded possibilities in the review space as well. There's also a fun new idea that may or may not happen among everything else.

Re: Nominees getting to vote - I'm checking with Josh on that, granting access to nominees might have been overlooked if the old system was doing that.

We did make a change that will probably be tinkered with over time: Votes for the project by the project owner are treated as regular votes, but votes for the project by the co-authors are nerfed. This means that if a Collab has 50 people and they all pick the Collab, their votes will still help it but they won't boost it as much as they did in the past. The goal is that a big collab can win if it's truly one of the best things that month, but won't win just because lots of people were involved.

There's still a lot of room for the mobile site to improve, so ideally it will at least keep getting better on mobile. And free of Apple and Google's tyranny!

any chance newgrounds will add ActivityPub support? PixelFed uses php as well and it would be incredible if y’all reached out to the developer so their could be a version made for newground. This would allow newgrounds to easily have an app and also for our art posted here to be seen by people on mastodon, pixelfed, and lemmy

This is some very cool news. I feel like there's so much art and music each month, but this should help give both categories a little more spotlight. A lot of the time both are kind of in a "blink and you'll miss it" position with the frontpage.

But yeah, every time I’ve had something front paged I got to vote that month. But interestingly when I’ve won daily 5th but not got FP’d I’ve not been eligible to vote. So does that mean only things that are FP’d are considered “best”? So could something win daily first (and evenly weekly 1st) and not be one of the best nominees if it didn’t get FP’d? Granted something being that good and not being stuck on the Front Page seems really unlikely!

As someone who has published on iOS & Android I can confirm that headaches and stress of dealing with their bullshit is something well worth avoiding! I’m never publishing on mobile again!
