RPG MAKER has functions already prepared for story-oriented games. Puzzle mechanics are made simple in it.
Though if you want to learn something, pick up Unity with C#. ChatGTP can aid. Fuckin tool is there might as well learn from it. There are also forums, though they might be misleading, as each problem has a multitude of ways to be solved in Unity.
Word of advice, set a small plan for a game and go to finish it. Or experiment with projects first to get comfortable, and acquainted with your limits of technical skill. Unity is also good for app development, or adjusting certain models for niche projects.
Think if you want to make a game, or to have a programming skill to go along with your to-be-acquired set of skills as well and whatever works for you.
