They all got deleted and for the life of my I can't figure out why?

I'm looking at the removed art and looks like it's people photoshopped into other existing pictures? This one has a Heritage Auctions credit on it:

We have some wiggle room for photo manipulation but in general we avoid Photoshops like these in the Art Portal.

I've noticed that pre-2012 thumbnails are upscaled to fit the screen, whereas those posted after 2012 are instead shown much smaller.

Yeah, it's a side-effect of a script that ran a while back, where anything with a traditional 140x90 thumbnail was left alone but anything with a larger thumbnail was updated to frame the larger thumbnail inside the new box - for some entries it looks ok but for others the framed thumbnail is still pretty small. Goal is to just manually update all of them over time.

From 20KB to 500KB, experimentations with image stitching and decompiling to go beyond what I can screenshot, etc. is clogging up my Dump space, so I ask this question:


Do you still need the thumbnails in my Dump or am I free to delete them?


Alternatively, could I also use the "Team Tools" of an unpublished "dummy" project to store thumbnails?

You can go ahead and delete the old thumbnails in your dump, the site has different copies from when they were uploaded to the projects.

Now because of the comic format, there's no good way to crop this to the needed widescreen. What you can do (and without bandicam) is to fullscreen the animation in Ruffle and WinKey+PrtScr the animation at certain parts, which gives a few more scalable options:

Both of these can be cropped in a bit to get the border out, which in the icon modding panel I can do with a slider scale. Both of these would be good representations, but the doc ready to catch the flying baby matched the OG thumbnail so I'll choose that one.

To improve on the ones you're suggesting, try and follow these suggestions for icons:


Higher Priority - Submission has no set icon (yellow tank default)

Lower Priority - Submission has an icon but:

  • Proposed icon would be a substantial improvement over the existing icon
  • If possible, icon can reflect the artists original icon/title screen (sometimes takes some photoshopping to erase things, I don't mind doing that on my end)
  • If not possible to reflect the existing icon, icon represents the work without spoilers or awkward framing
