Question, is drawing over lines like those, kinda like kids before starting to write, is a good idea practice routine?iu_1290015_8843461.png

(Made this for myself in Flash)

I know it's basic, but so I am + I'm using a mouse and my outlines aren't the greatest.

Yes, these are good, though I'd say it's best if done with a pen tablet rather than a mouse if your goal is to improve at drawing.

They seem basic, but try them. Easier said than done, right? Now try it with your arm instead of your wrist. Turns out a lot of y'all's fine control skills aren't as fine as you might think.

Does anyone have any advice for drawing hunched-over poses?

It's always gonna be "use references." Lots of pose resources out there; Maybe see if you can find the pose you want on Posemaniacs or Andorkastock, to name a couple.

Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to achieve a painterly look on a tablet? I'm struggling.

I rough-in the colour, then mostly use a blending tool to push it into place. Kind of like 2D sculpting..

That's typically going to require a combination of brush types and theory - I recommend going with the theory first and play with custom brushes much later.

This thread should probably be pinned.

Skoops and others have talked about this before, it would cause too many threads to be pinned, among other issues.

Someone please help me revive my clubs

Great example of how learning real things helps with designing not-real things

I've been meaning to post this here since it dropped but kept forgetting.

Not a Tutorial, but I think this is an extremely valuable video for this forum and thread specifically:

https://youtu.be/c8U5r9ZKXZM?si=UxoblKF6NSfeqvJy

Dude with zero baseline artistic skill does Drawabox and Proko classes for 150 hours; 5 hours a day drawing for 30 days, and sees improvement, and enjoys it. Well worth a watch

I follow artist Mark Crilley on YouTube. He doesn't post many videos anymore, but his channel is still loaded with awesome tips. I used to have trouble with perspective and doing complex poses and fight scenes. Mark really cleared a lot of that up for me. He had a bunch of videos about using references from resources around the house to help stage your drawings. Neal Adams had a whole video course about using references as well. Just great stuff.

I'm sorry, I don't know how to embed YouTube vids...

I will check his videos, thanks for mentioning him. In the meanwhile I show you how to embed videos here.

search your favourite video or video important for the thread, right click on it and then click on "copy embed code":

iu_1385688_20153888.webp

then when replying to a thread or even opening one, click on the last icon you see (the film icon) because that's where you will copy-past the embed code:

iu_1385689_20153888.webp

Once you clicked on that icon, just past the code and click "save" et voilà you have now a video posted in a thread.

Hope this helps :)

So in the video you posted this is the final result of embedded videos:
