That one is ear rape, which goes against the rules.
Musicians make music , producers make products. * drops mic :D
Need to get back into the swing of this.

Sorry I've been kinda dead on this forum. I've been wanting to get back into posting a massive amount of audio again. But I've been busy and I'm now sick.
EDIT: Although I'll still check here to see if anything legitimate got posted.

Don't burn yourself out. It's more than fine to drop a one off and go. This isn't a 9-5 job. :) I hope you feel better soon. You really have been a big help. Honestly, I didn't even know myself that the theft was as widespread as it was until we were both coming up with massive lists -- only, I would run through, listen, remove, and ban, and you'd be flagging and posting.
EDIT: Although I'll still check here to see if anything legitimate got posted.
Thank you, really, for what you do. Our eyes are not infallible, nor are our ears, so a second or third set always helps.

What?
I mean, you've been doing a great job finding stuff that most of us would not recognize, being as you're somewhat more of an audiophile than I am.
In other news, I'm making a masterpost for resources regarding the AP, scouting, what to look for in terms of flagging stolen audio, etc. If you have written or have seen some good resources, PM me a link and I'll get to looking over it. If it's informative and accurate, it'll be added to the master post.

I'll probably look through there a little bit if I have nothing else I could be doing, I'm sure I won't accidentally report something to here because if you ban it, it will probably be gone before I post it here.

Have you added JK-FlipFlop's (or cank, currently) method of scouting? I've used it a couple times, and it's worked to where I can trust scouting someone.
I do have a couple methods for what to look for as far as stolen audio, though. I'll pm them to you, so I'm not taking up space on this thread.

@NekoMika and I are reviewing that right now to make sure it's just right before listing it. I'm checking your mail out now. The power went out earlier -- two transformers exploded, and a line was down in my yard. Trees fell on the line. Meth heads blew up the other two, I think.

Bear in mind not everyone knew of that song from Newgrounds. If people actually knew what songs were on Newgrounds we wouldn't have so many Waterflame and TheFatRat uploads (excluding the ones people upload from those artists if they never posted it to NG).

This appears to be spam but not ear-breaking. Their other submissions are the same. @Exedor, your opinion?

I know in the end it's a moderators opinion that counts, but Lexa did disregard a few "vocal" submissions that I posted here, even if they were spam or didn't make any sense.
EDIT: While it is an unnecessary audio, I'm just going by the reports that have been disregarded by them.

This one sounds like a midi rip, but it's a cover of a copyrighted song. We can't really have those here anymore, which is pretty depressing.

@MonsterboyGD (haven't figured out how to respond to two forum posts in one yet) I'm sure the mods also appreciate you finding legitimate stuff to be recovered. Doing community work also means protecting it. Hence why I dispute some stuff that's been posted here.
@EDM364 Isn't there some kind of protection against that? Like, an ex post facto law where you can't be punished if you did the act at a time where it wasn't against the rules? There's so many good remixes on here ;^;
So wait.. if Skrillex is owned by a label, would that mean all these are against the rules? I probably took a huge risk flagging all of them but..

This I don't know. I do know that submissions containing copyrighted content are now having to be taken down due to copyright law and that @TomFulp has lamented on covers and remixes for ages. In fact, not being able to do remixes and remakes specifically of copyrighted works has kept me from submitting a lot of pieces I've made as a learning exercise.
I'm not sure whether we should hunt down old covers and remixes much the same way we do abusive content such as thefts and ear-rape or not. Some of these submissions have been downloaded over 30k times, etc. and enjoyed by no small shortage of people, but we are dearly trying to avoid copyright fuss. I'll have to get an wiser opinion than my own for sure. I did however remove one of those submissions that had a copyrighted sample in it. We're not allowed to have even a "millesecond" of copyrighted content in our submissions without explicit and legal permission.

I probably just screwed up flagging all those Skrillex remixes, huh?
At 1/12/17 10:52 AM, NekoMika wrote:
Nah, I have to check each remix flagged anyways, you did not do anything wrong. For giant label artists, we may have to remove those actually. :x
I actually downloaded some of them, in case they really have to get removed. But I'll keep in mind what you said about the remix thing, so maybe I'll know which remixes can stay and which ones can't.
I went and had a small chat with Tom about the issue and from what I understand, basically, if you have a question about a remix, bring it up here; like @NekoMika said, if it's using more than 10% of the source material, it probably has to go. Additionally, any big name radio artists like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez also need to go -- you can always check something like the big bad list of copyright bullies (Taylor Swift sued a couple for using her song at a wedding without paying royalties). If they don't have any of the source material at all, that's a bigger question. So I would say, no witch hunt based off of his responses, excepting the big name labels' songs. Age and popularity doesn't appear to have a factor, much like our old classics which have died as a result of copyright, and that's sad, but we really are better off not giving these labels any representation on our site. The more they have, the more power they have to do evil.
In short, anything with copyrighted acapellas and samples has to go. Big name artists like Taylor Swift, Selena, or any other artist whose label hunts down copyright, stuff owned by the big 3, has to go. Videogame remixes can stay, as long as they aren't a talentless midi rip or something like a "how to" with the audio playing in the background.
