So I'd like to share a bit about my "workflow" I follow when I come here. I would like to stress beforehand that I do not think that any of you do a bad job. I wouldn't even be able to do what I currently do without your work. My reasons will become apparent by the end. This will be an incredibly boring read that nobody asked for. :) So here goes:
"Step 1":
- I pin the most recent unread post,
- open every "suspected" upload in a respective, new browser tab,
- give the submission "a ???-star rating", for future identification (I won't say which one...),
- and then I open the uploader's profile in the browser tab.
"Step 2":
- Every browser tab with an uploader who has only one Audio Portal submission and no fans gets closed.
- Every browser tab with an uploader who has only one Audio Portal submission and 1+ fans gets their "fans" checked for Audio Portal submissions or "looking like these accounts tend to look..." (These might get investigated later, but most of the time, it's just an obvious case of Multi-Abuse and it ends there. That's also how I find a few Ban-Evaders, but they are very rarely as extreme cases as the one we had here recently. Usually it's an abandoned account with "a noise" left as their first "test upload".)
- Every browser tab with an uploader who has multiple Audio Portal submissions (usually 2-4) gets their other Audio Portal submissions opened in respective, new browser tabs. If any of those submissions are not marked with "a ???-star rating" by me, they get said mark and I write a bare-bones report that usually looks a bit like this: "Probably 'also' [stolen/AI], like their other upload ( [URL of the post that lead me to that user] )"
·
Now I feel the need to point something out before I continue:
Please keep in mind that "I (probably) have more Whistle Points than GOD"*, which, under the current system, evidently makes me report more reckless than the average user. At the same time I do not forget that "hypothetically" an actual artist's hard work might be on the line:
- They might have been wrongfully reported... (Humans make mistakes! That is a constant of life.)
- They might have been uploading a stolen song/AI-generated track "just that one time" to boost their whateverthef**k-statistics...
- "Their little brother" uploaded the stolen song/AI-generated track... Somehow... Despite 2FA and the entire story being incredibly hard to believe... (But even if that story is true: "You are responsible for your own account. Any beef you might have is with your "little brother". "Continue" to make music and ask for forgiveness in a year or so.")
- "The dog ate their homework..."
Well, probably not the last one, but you get what I'm saying. So I always point out that this is a speculative report. Not because I'm worried I'll "lose statistics", but because I could otherwise cause more workload for the moderation team - instead of "helping out".
·
Now, I'd like to ask you if you also look into these accounts a bit and write similar reports or are you estimating that the moderators will always do detective work of that nature on their own?
And for the moderator(s) reading this: I know for a fact that you are busy enough as it is, but do you do that kind of detective work regularly or only when you have the time? And do you do it immediately or do you torture your future self with bookmarks?
·
* If you are religious and take offense to the joke above, feel free to react with the angriest emoji you can find if it helps you vent. I will check your account for abusive/spam reviews later on... ;) (The previous sentence was also a joke.)
