If you ever see somebody behave abusive towards others, just write a PM to Tom Fulp, the creator of Newgrounds. Accounts of people acting like that will (in almost all cases) get deleted over here - regardless of "That's troll number [N]." or "That's an entirely new troll."

Whoever behaves like that here makes it clear that they do not want to stay and participate in our community in the first place.

The spectrogram doesn't look great for this song. Although a cutoff at 19kHz is indicative of a bitrate of 192kbps, the max output of Suno, songs generated by Suno AI will often spit out a bitrate much lower than 192kbps, in this case 128kbps. Just did a quick search. I usually search in the undiscovered artists only, but recently I've found that there's scouted users with Suno AI uploads too.

This user is scouted with all Suno AI tracks. Most of their descriptions are written by ChatGPT as well.

I haven't heard many GenAI tracks but just from these I can pick out that they must have trained their models on soundcloud mp3 rips. The drums and other background elements all have this muffled VBR quality, and it appears that every other instrument gets incoherently smeared across the stereo field at various moments throughout the song.

Never paid attention to this stuff because I never really touched any GenAI music generator, but I (for some reason) didn't think it would be so easy to hear their inconsistencies. I would suppose these aren't paid generations, right?

Oh, and before the edit window closes, this track I just found has a weird bitrate, weird blasted sub frequencies and also weird max volume, can't clearly hear any other artifacts but being their only upload with no kind of thoughtful description given I would assume it might be a GenAI track.

I can see what you mean by Suno Being trained off Soundcloud mp3's. I've noticed that Suno outputs songs very similar to the largest names in music too. A month or so ago, I noticed a handful of songs that musically sounded very similar to Five Finger Death Punch, both in song progression and the vocals. While Suno doesn't disclose where they train their models, I am near certain that it was somewhat trained on everyday songs on the radio.

These probably weren't paid generations, as I think most of the generations uploaded to Newgrounds similarly aren't. From what I've seen, it appears to be a lot of kids who are uploading Suno AI tracks, as you get a certain amount of free generation credits each month. Kids don't usually have money to waste on a service like Suno, and besides, the generation it barfs out with some of their free daily credits sounds great to them, so they just upload that. As far as I know though, paying doesn't make the music any better, it just gives you more credits and generates songs faster ("priority generation queue"). Udio also has a free option, but for some reason I don't see it as often on Newgrounds, and when I do, the type of user that uses it usually skews older and are more intesrested in growing themselves as a fake musician than getting "their" music on Geometry Dash.

So you don't even pay for better trash, you just pay for more trash... that's a funny scam.

That's also really funny, they would not be able to keep up that facade for too long without learning the slightest bit of theory jargon. And if they really wanted to make it big they could not possibly perform at any kind of live event. At most they'll make a cent or two from their spotify uploads and that's it. This technology really was perfectly designed for enabling these sorts of scams. What makes me wonder why they even bother uploading to a site that doesn't allow anyone to directly profit from listens or similar bullshit. it's just such a pointlessly elaborate roleplay.

I highly doubt that concepts such as "long term plan" or "sustainability" have hit the consciousness of those people - which are in my estimation either kids or "kid-like enough that they shouldn't be allowed to use the internet unsupervised".

Story time: After an argument with their parents, the child of a couple I'm friends with decided one evening to open a window and scream "Help Police!". A neighbor then called the police and the police came... ("Who would have thunk it...?") The situation was cleared up, there was some (mandatory) investigation by child services, and appropriate punishment was had - for the child. When the child in question was asked about their motives and how they thought that would improve their situation, the answer boiled down to "I don't know."

Those two situations seem really comparable to me. :)

And this dear readers is why NG is 13+. Not that it helps in all cases...

(Maybe we should update that age limit to 16+... In that case, maybe just the 13-15 year olds would sneak in and the 8 year olds would leave us alone...)

In my experience, that's pretty much universal among AI boosters - no concept of long-term consequences, no thoughts for sustainability, just trying to make more money/get some clout right the fuck now.

If/when Suno/Udio go bankrupt, this goddamn tidal wave of Auditory Impersonation should hopefully stop as well. Sure, there's gonna be some promptfondlers who will try their luck with local models or shit like that, but they'll be few and far between.
